Today I heard a comment that gives people the right (somewhat) to have an attitude towards us.

Someone asked a Novice Doc for heals (he had wounds).. and to my amazement, the novice doc replied.

"I'm only healing tumblers"

I was floored.. I think it really shows how downhill doctors and customers have gone. I mastered doc about 3 months after release, and we used to group up and chat between waves of people. We would talk to the patients. We would goof off.. being a doctor used to be fun... I miss the good old days when no one would ever be told "I'm only healing tumblers"

when I hear things like this, I give their tumbler a quickness buff

I know its griefing, but I feel they deserve it

What is the point of being a doc if you are not going to use the skills...seems like a lot of skill points just to buff yourself and friends.
In protest...I have taken one day a week and dedicate that day to buffing people for free in mos eisley.
I started doing this yesterday. I advertised that I was protesting all the doc's whining about buff prices and whining customers. I spent about 3 hours buffing people....everyone was amazed that I was buffing people for free. Some people even slipped in a tip without me noticing. I even had several people that were doc's talk to me about my protest while I was buffing. Most of them agreed with me that too many docs on the forums are just too whiney.
Play how you want...the point of the game is to have fun. If you are not having fun being a doc because you feel everyone is harrrassing you....drop doc and be something else...I am sure you will find something to complain about in whatever profession you choose.
Me personally...I love buffing people. I get to take a break from hectic mission running and sit back, relax chat with people socialize. There is more to this game than run run run kill kill kill.
sheesh....have fun people and quit complaining about dumb things...

Who is whining? You can not sit there and tell me the situation I described is nothing more than me whining. Also, I didn't become a doctor to buff, I became a doctor in the beginning for what a doctor stood for, healing. We were respected, now we are nothing more than tools. And you can ruin the economy by giving free buffs, it won't change anything...people just want your buffs and will be done with you. Also, if you took time to realize the doctor's concerns and problems, you wouldn't consider if whining, they are valid complaints, which obviously you have never had to experience....but when the day comes..I guess no one will want to hear you "whining" about it.

If you want to stop the whining, adding on to it by whining yourselfdoesn't help anything. Give advice on how else to overcome problems, deal with issues or even talk about positive incidents. Those help. Thinly disguised whines and protestson the subject of whining don't.

Unlike you, many of usdidn't become a doc to bebuffmonkeys, we like the other aspects even more. It's great that you like giving free buffs away. While you're at it, can you please extend it to 7 days a week? I, for one, would welcome it.

LOL. Thanks. You made me laugh.

I understand wanting to keep your title up. You shouldn't have to take it down when you're not buffing. Iquote an outrageous price alsowhen I get asked for buffs. In my experience however, most people are not rude. Most of my patients (or customers, depending on what I'm doing) ask why so much, and I explain, and then they find someone else. For the few that ARE rude, I suggest replying with merely the words "You have been reported and ignored. Please do not ask me for anything again." Some people debate wether or not you can actually report people for foul language or rudeness, andif you are uncomfortable reporting them, then don't. But tell them you did, as it seems for me that they will leave you alone after that. Just my two cents worth.

You contradict yourself. First you question why someone would be a Doc if they don't do what others tell them (use their skills) and then you say ... play how you want.

Listen up cookie, I became a Doc to be self-sufficient and ability to solo. I should not have to hide my tag and no one has the right to harrass or be rude just because of the class I play in a bloody game.

Why is it that playing a game means people can stop being human beings?

Before typing, think first.

Again...you guys make me laugh

Also..I am not a cookie.

in no way do I contridict myself. The first statement is in the form of a question. I am not telling you how to play your char...simply it is a personal opinion. I am not in anyway telling you to obey everyone and buff at will. Simply put, I have had no problems at all when running around and someone sends me a tell for a buff...I tell them I am not buffing ATM. They tell me okies....have fun. I have yet to get a rude reply. You guys are obsessed with people being rude to you. Simple answer...if someone is beign a jerk, /addignore them. End of story.

Using Doc skills is more than being a buff monster. Now, realising that this is indeed a game...and personal goals are in play...that dosent mean you have to be antisocial. Using the previous metheod...if someone is rude to you....ignore them. you wont have to deal with them ever again.

Second... that is the whole point...having fun....quit complaining and have fun. I am not a buff monkey...I do not have a boffbot set up like some people. When I buff I am there talking to the person I am buffing...shooting the bull. Entertaining myself. I'm not in it fo rthe money...my doc is not my main char...I do it for social interaction. Also....so many of you guys are so proud of having the doc title...its no that big of a deal. It dosent take that long to get master doc anyway...especially if you cheat(tumble). Seems to me I would be much more proud having a diff title up.

Sevardos, before you start typing, you should think more...Everything makes perfect sense when taken in the context it was given.

LOL wow, this is getting funny.

If people from other profs came here and read some of the things that are said .... and for some docs to wonder why people have bad attitudes towards em ..... just put 1 and 1 together, its simple. Almost all the posts, IMO, have really good points.

I hate bringing RL into a fantasy game but think about your doc, how would you feel if you heard them say stuff like whats being said ... heck, apply it to the person at the gas station or super market. Think about it a lil and treat the customer accordingly. I have had people move from other lines to get into my line because of 1) the way the other doc treated their customers 2) the way I treat my customers and 3)the way I deal with problem customers .

I always like doing things with a lil touch of humor and a zing... something like
"I'm sorry %TT, I spend the same amount of time one each buff session, seeing how I have spent your buffing time listening to you, your time has expired and it is the %TT turn, if you wish to continue please go to the end of the line or the peadatrision(sp) it just over there. ( point to the left) Thank you. Next!" By this time those that are in line are all LOLing and the person usually leaves

Peoples attitudes are formed by the things that happen to them or the tings they see or hear. That goes for docs as well. After dealing with a problem customer and doing it as nicely as possible I dont have a problem. I even get extra tips, extra complements and bows. Its infectious just like a smile or a yawn LOL... I go as far as /wave to random people I see in the wild and ask is everything ok here? need a hand? rather then just zooming by.

We can go on and on but someone needs to take the first step .... or end the cycle. Its not just the service its the quality of service.

Ah, I'll just say my small bit which will probably repeat 90% of what was said before, but cheers anyways.

Yes, I agree it is a free market now, as it always has been, except that people have obviously grown dependent on buffs (and hence, their doctors.) Docs to me now mainly seem composed of those who wanted to do it originally or change to it cause they though it was fun, etc., and those who (probably) have alt. for it/ just want to be self-sufficient. One reason why one might think Docs "whine too much" about these sorts of things is because geeze, buffs are mainly what we're seen for now anyways (and mainly what our profession does anyways now), and we need to be present and active (unless you use some macro, which then I can say nothing about) to do our thing. This is opposed to customers getting other things such as weapons, armor, food, etc. off of the bazaar and vendors, and that's pretty much what buffing doctors would be- a mobile vendor who can turn him/herself on and off at will, and can change price at anytime Some choose to take advantage of the (lack of) competitveness at one time, some don't, and some just ignore it (like me usually )

I have to admit as well, even though I started out as wanting to be helpful and heap lots of blue upside down spade thingies onto people, the game has shifted out from that sort of personal gameplay (which took place in a med. center, arguably where docs should spend some time at least) to 'the bottom line', in which I could really care less about the needs of everyone else because it's not worth what little time I play now. If one chooses to get the now missing 'personal' experience by buffing, that's great, but most likely either the doctor has a reason for not buffing publicly all the time, or the customer is astounded by one aspect of the doctor's terms of buffing.

I never get tipped over my asking price. On Ahazi the only people that tip really are the new players, and for the most part I buff them for free. All I do is a /ex to see how new they are and don't even offer a price.

half the time they say "I can't afford buffs" to which I reply with a /t "they are on the house". Sometimes they will tip 1k, which I know as a player starting out is a heck of alot of credits.

I ignore the problem players, I ignore the hate tells. Hell I ignore most tells all together. I have a macro that runs stating the price, duration and strength even 2min. They want a buff they can wait.

I heal/cure/rez anyone anytime, if I'm not advertising I recommend getting a buff at CNet or Theed.

I have my hands full with players, I do not wish nor should I have to deal with Doctors that want to enforce their beliefs by cutting my play style by buffing for free. I am an unguilded Doctor that harvests his own materiel and supply. It is not cheap nor can I deal with the high and mighty Doctors, but I am fair and I have regulars because of that.

Want to be an anti-Doctor Doctor fine, just stay the heck away from me. My solution to guilds is simple, one person crosses my path the guild is denied services, that includes the actions of their doctors. Of course you get the "my guild doctor will buff me" but then again they have to seek each other out so this bothers me none.

I have been a master doc since a month after the release of this game and I have never had to put up with so much rudeness and vulgarity until today. As I realize how much people can make doing janta missions (and how much I can too) I hate to buff the public. It is quite frankly a waste of my time considering how much more I can make by other means. So while waiting around on dantooine, I get several tells asking for buffs (as usual since I earned my master doc title and am not going to take it down just because I am not buffing) and politely inform people that if they would like a buff it would cost them 60k. Yes I know this is a lot, but if they are desperate and really need a buff, they can work it off in 2 missions. Instead of either declining or saying no thanks, I get tells asking who the "f" I think I am and what a **edit** I must be. Do people actually think that doctors owe them buffs? We are a profession and being a free market, I can charge 100k if I feel like it, it is up to the other person to take it or leave it, not spout vulgarities and shout remarks tarnishing my name. Remember people, you are the ones asking me for something, not the other way around. Ok, just a little experience I wished to share with the community...and if anyone else has had similar experiences (which I'm sure you have, since doc griefing has become a sport as of late) feel free to share them

Yep, after being a master doc for 6 months now, I use the standard
