Lets Face it...

In the real world, u dont get medical attention for free.... But' lets analyze it like this...

For "free" or for cheap, get the crappy city clinic--where all the dying homeless go to get "medical attention"--aka the novice medics in the game...

For a premium, u get great health care with well trained doctors--u pay, and u get healed quilcky in game...

U dont get something for nothing!

If you want money for your service, you have to tell them up front what you are going to charge. If they want to haggle over your price, it is up to you to determinehow firm your prices are. If they start ranting and raving, tell them they will have to find another doctor to handle their needs,/ignore them. Be sure your communications are in /say, so that the other medics/docs in the med center hear what an ass the guy is too.

You can't expect to make a decent living using your medical skills though. People are too cheap. Expect to find some other way to earn your credits.

After making Master Doctor and maxxing my med xp (80k)I very seldom heal "strangers" if they ask me I tell them to go to a medical center and look for someone who actually needs the xp or pay me up front.

And if they start complaining I just add them to ignore.

I really am getting tired of some of these people out there.

Since I got master doctor I've always been a pay for heal doctor now... Except my friends of course. I usually don't charge people that look like they're really new however I tell them this is a one time good deal for now because I want to get rid of crappy meds ... I usually charge up front 1 credit per wound they don't like it they can find a medic that will do it for less. I spend my time doing missions to get money hence not in the med center anymore... So one less doctor or healer in the med center soon the med centers will be ghost towns since I don't see a lot of novice medics anymore.

Cherri, my master doc stopped healing ppl a long time ago. Too many rude people. I also removed my title so no one can tell that she is a master doc. As frustrating as being a doctor is....I feel more sorry about entertainers. They get their services robbed for free far more than doctors do and can do nothing about it.

People I heal:

Guildmates

Groupmates (Hunting)

If I'm pvping I'll heal other Rebs

If I want xp, I might go to the med center, and I'll heal for free there

If you walk up to me and ask for a heal, you'll be nicely asked to pay upfront

I usually just use my carbinier tag though...

*shrug*
I don't heal people I'm not grouped with unless they hold some personal meaning [friend, supplier, customer with good dealings, etc]. I don't wear Master Doctor, ever. I bust out my factories every once in awhile to pump out a couple hundred of whatever subs I might need in crates to carry on my back, and make up some of the various hunting kits [rez packs, poison/disease cures, Ds for pets and picking someone up, etc.].

As far as healing in a med center? No, I don't do that. If someone offers a tip up front for a heal, I'll normally accomodate them. I've put up with enough of the **edit** that people have to offer and I've used enough unreturned charges on my wound packs to care anymore how long they have to sit in the med center and be healed by Novice Medics.

I'm a Doctor for myself and my group, the general public can heal their own wounds if they want to be rude. Now, this isn't to say that there aren't some good people, b/c I have met many... but some days it seems like there are less of them than the bad ones and it just becomes all too frustrating.

Well, nice to know others share my opinions. I only heal strangers for cash up front and my friends who tend to bring me killer organics/inorganics. It is unbelievable how many folks will decide they can wait for the heal when you ask for X amount of credits up front..lol (Even on Endor *bonk* clone in silly!)

I also can't believe how many people expect you to buff them for free also. It is pathetic! They always start with the "You get xp for it." So what..hehe I have been capped on medical xp since the 1st month the game was released.

I am now known to be rather fussy. I won't sell to, heal, or buff anyone who is not Imperial. Needless to say, this has made the game a bit more interesting for me.

I just made Novice Doctor and am on Sunrunner. The med center is a vicious competitive place that really gets on my nerves. I wish there was a system that if you start to heal someone, no one else can heal your patient. So many times I have found that one patient who forgot to clone (several times and has no HAM bars at all!) I think...cool, some good xp...when all of the sudden 4 novice medics come over and heal him. My stims are great and it would not take me that long to heal him. So I just sit there and heal as best as I can. Sometimes I get lucky and they tip right up front...if they don't, I usually let the novice medic sit there and heal them.

I have never asked to be paid for my services, but I have noticed that whenever I am out and about on a different planet, someone will come up to me and try to get me to group with them saying, "I am going hunting and wouldn't it be great to have a Doctor with me!" I usually say, "Yes it would...good luck finding one." I am working very hard to get Master Doctor and have a couple of people I go hunting with because they cannot heal themselves. I get good xp and they let me harvest anything they kill.

I don't go around with my Novice Doctor tag on very much anymore. And I also do not heal pets in the med center. That is what Pet Stim's are for and are readily available on the bizaar. I don't get xp from it and get tired of seeing them in the med center. I also don't get tipped for it either...just a Thanks and off they go. Everyone should tip when they come in the med center cuz those stim's came from resources which cost money....but that is a fantasy world which will never happen.

Maybe if there is no one left in the med centers but novice medics, maybe people would get the hint. You want better service you better be willing to pay for it.

Once I hit master doc i dont see myself healing any strangers. whats the point? As of now i get tiped 1 out of every 10 customers. In the end only reason to be in med center is for the exp not cash flow.

Novice Doc on Wanderhome (sp?) - I was getting sick and tired of getting stiffed on tips. In some cases 10% would tip me a night so whatI do nowwhen I sit in a med centre, or someone asks for healing on the field, I ask them up front if they will be tipping. Most cases they say yes, and the tip ispretty good. Yet on oneoccasionsomeone did try to cheat me out of a tip. It was in Mos Esliey on Tat and a guy asked for wound treatment. I told him I would treat him but only if he was tipping, he agreed - though was not very happy about it. After I healed him he telled me and said that he wasn't going to tip me. In fact he seemed rather ignorant abou it. I calmly told himthat he was "being added to my list" - he asked "what list?" I said my do not serve list.. and yes I do keep one handy. After being so informed he promptly tipped me 1K.

Anyhow - he said later that he was "kidding" - do I care if he was kidding or not? No, but I got my tip out of him. People do not realize how hard it is sometimes to find a medic on Lok or Dat until they need one - personally it bothers me that I have to ask for tips up front, but you know, this seems to be the nature of the business now. Fighters are spending 200k on comp armor - they sure as hell can pay me 1-2 creds a wound. If not, and they stiff me after they agree to pay me they get added to my list.

Is this petty?.. whose to say, but I'll tell you what.. there will be a night not so far away that I willbe the only Doc on Lok and that lying no tipping SOB will ask forassistance, maybe he'll be 2 stat'saway fromnegative wounds, and it will be me who gets 20k out of his ass before I help him.

Cheers

PS after an hour of asking up front for tips today I made around 9k in Bestine. Is this a great amount? well its more than I made on Lok than I made in three hours there one night, while not asking for tips. - food for thought IMO

I've never been able to rely on tips to survive as a medical class in this game. As such, I spend most of my time not being able to go up in med xp too well, and that's a pain for a doc/CM hybrid, with intent to master both. Instead, I work hard on missions to pay for my harvesters and factory I need to make the things I use to heal people. Like most, it's hot and cold. When I do have enough time after sweating to break even on all of my equpiment, I sit in the med centers and heal folks. Or I bust out my droid and heal folks in town when I see them running about looking half dead.

I've healed people to full with entirely black HAM and gotten nothing, not even a thanks. Then I've healed a guy for 200 wounds and been tipped 2k. Too much, I protest, but he smiles and says that should hopefully help make up for the tips he's sure other have gipped me on.

Now I just heal. I use B wound packs unless I've been tipped. I never ask for payment ahead of time or anything, but people are slowly realizing they get little bonuses if they HAVE tipped me. I pop off a wound B. I get a tip. I start popping higher wound packs, and I top them off at the end with an enhance to Health/Action. Nothing massive, but a nice bonus that they get for just passing a few credits my way. I don't advertise that sort of thing, but me just being polite and quiet about it and throwing in a little /tell saying Thanks for the tip. I like to give the folks who do a little something extra... and popping off even a minor enhance for a 150 to a bit more enhance is a nice little bonus, I think.

People are rude and refuse to even thank, or worse, insult me when I just send a /tell with 'A thank you would have been nice' , and they get added to the 'You wish' list. And yes, I HAVE seen many of those people out getting there butts handed to them in the wilds. And I sure as hell remember. I let them get taken down, walk over, and /snort at the body. And I remind them of who I was and what they did before they can hit the clone center, or while they sit on their butt for the incap timer.

There are good people and bad people, obviously. What can we do but what we do now?
