Thread: A client blows a fuse... aka : how can a doc survive...
I am from Kauri server. I live on planet Naboo, near Moenia
I was in the medic center last night, when a guy from a great PA came in and asked for healing. I put myself to work (with some woundpacks E since the guy was quite hurt). And when i asked him some tips, he gave me 200 (92 in tip and 108 in bank tip !). I said it was not a lot (am i the only person speaking his mind aloud ??), but said thanks. Then he said : "Ive never been charged for a heal". The following is quite funny. I told him he was probably never healed by woundpacks E's... and he began like... super bitching ! eheh Like : you stupid, im in a PA and i have docs too, that can enhance all my stats by 3k+ (yeah sure lol) and can heal and blah blah.
So basically, im supposed to heal all peeps for free with the woundpacks E i make with 900+ quality stuff... the fact is... howcan i actually run my factories if a client blow a fuse if i ask for some coins after a heal ?
Anyways, after i tried to explain the young person i did not want to "disrespect" him by daring to ask him for a small payment... i finaly sent him 500 credits, and didnt answer to his tells anymore. Guess i did the right thing, just hope this guy wont keep it inside, this kind of stress can give you cancer they say.
Anyone had the same experience ?
Yeah.
Welcome to the world of being a Doc! (And folks say money isn't an issue. hehe)
He's just doing his part to reach the universe's goal of driving all Doctors out of public service.
Charge up front. It's the only answer that makes sense. In experience, no matter how chatty, how quick, or how gracious you are, they (the community as a whole) will never offset the costs of making what it takes to keep them going. When they answer, 'I have a friend who does it for free', my answer is always, 'You should really go see your friend. That is a great deal.'. If they say, 'But you get xp',I used to answer, 'As you did running your 1000c destroy missions'. If they say, 'You're greedy', I say, 'Yes. I actually want to eventually buy something like a chance cube with my character, and with the 25c that I've been tipped so far, I'm almost a 1/4 of my way there!'. And if they say, 'Why don't you run missions if you want money so bad', I'd day, 'You're absolutely right! Good luck on the autohealing' and leave on the spot. From then on, only work on commission.
You are a genius !
Are you playing on Kauri ? If yes, msg me, well have some fun healing peeps
(and even more fun with those we won't heal !!
)
I'm with Esperson on that one.
I rarely wear the MD sign anymore these days, really only takes a few badexperiences like that to make you give up doctoring strangers. Its a shame really, butwho wants to seek out verbal abuse. Like all other crafters doctors should be paied, but the prospect of some people who mightgo crazywhen this is mentioned has made me not even bother.
A cant survive solely on healing other people wounds, and if he can I wouldnt call it living.
the only place i hang around and heal without asking payment up front is the med center of the city i grew in (dearic on talus)
when i go elsewhere i charge up front ( started doing that yesterday actualy)
they dont like it let them wait for hours to get healed
Well, this is a trick I started to use, and it increased the tips in the med center for everyone that was working there at least 5 times over what they normally get. Get a cheap R unit.. R1, R2, R3, whatever.. cuz people who are mad have a tendency to shoot them too.. so this way your not out any $$$$.. name the droid.. Remember-To-Tip. Mine is no longer named that.. but someone else took over the spot since i dont need the exp there, i only heal certain people. But if im the only one there, i keep a list of non-tippers and next time, they have to pre-pay for my services. But my droid is currently named Im-On-Strike.
Take care all.
No joke..I get flamed for asking for payment.. sad I tell you. Last night, I was sitting in Theed Med center while I was eating dinner, And this wookie is just sitting there.. then he moves in front of me and sits down.. not a word. Then he blurts out "i need a medic" i told him sorry, no medics here come back later" his response was "??????"I thought it was funny. I didnt bother to tell him that i was a doctor, not a medic. But since i use the title Medical Professor, i thought it was pretty self explanitory. A little later i had taken off my title, and was just sitting there, someone comes in and just sits down on the other side of the med center, and says nothing. 5 minutes later, a friend of mine comes in and is bleeding, so i stop his bleeding. this other person says "oooh, so you can heal." i simply replied "yes, i have been able to for quite some time" she then proceeded to flame me for not walking all the way over there and healing her.. hahaha.. i told her "thats a real good way to get me to want to heal you" and walked off.
ok, now for something positive ![]()
In the med center, a helper came by with a noob, and said this is the med center, you come here to heal health and action wounds, and asked me if i would heal him, i said ok, only minor wounds so no biggie, when i was half way through healing him, the helper says "you should always remember to tip the medics when they heal you." I was soo proud.. hahaha
I hit someone for a heal for my own XP now. I straight up refuse to heal 20 dmg and all the secondary stats. Let the newbie medics have the that *fun*.. yeah..
So I will hit only people with half black bars so i get some good XP. Then if they ask for more I say I am outa meds ![]()
If they tip me *anything* i heal them 100% (cept secondaries, or maybe if they tipped me good I do secondaries).
I have decided I have to be selfish. It's all about me. I do what i want. If I am not feeling like getting medical XP for a night I just won't heal unless I am tipped.
