The point here is I've heard people refer to her (errr him playing a her ... but whatever) as dropping her price to 2k simply to force them to leave ....

our server did not have money duping and the biggest problem we have is people camping the borgle cave to get rich quick .... before 2 weeks ago ... it was few and far between that anyone was paying over 100cpu for out of shift avian ... cough that up to farstar appearing only in novemer, i dunno .... and now because of her 200 cpu for in shift avian is common ... a recent auction has just gone in the range of 500+ cpu ....

now i'm not complaining about avian prices as thats bound to happen and I don't mind people lowering their prices, but to lower them so much in order to get other doctors to leave because she can't stand not being the only one is beyond me ...

and we're not talking about lowering to 8 or 9k which its understandable, even 6k which is what i started buffing for way back around christmas but to lower it to 2k which barely covers the cost of the avian imo is just rediculous

anyway i just wanted to see what the doctor community thought about this or if i was ... to a certain extent ... over reacting

I barely have enoughtime to keep up the shop so there's nothing i can do about this anyway but I just wanted you guy's $.02 .....

thx

just being picky...

it takes 138 units of avian to make all 6 stats. Assume you can make the bog stdard 30 charges per stat that 5 units of avian effectivly used per buff assume no bivoli etc then thats yourpain threshold on avian cpu. 200 cpu is still 1k cost so you can prolly get away with charging 2k total and still make a net profit just, working onthose stats i couldquite happily pay 1000cpu at 12k a buff id still make good money

I'll be the first to admit that I'm no economist, but this doesn't sound like pure capitalism to me. In my mind, pure capitalism is when when I put my product up against your product and we see which customers prefer (without artificial measures to change customer behavior).

You are not going to run her out of business by trying to sell her out of $2k buffs. She is sitting on millions of credits, and the buffs she has have already paid for themselves, I'm sure. I crafted a run of 150 buffs. I harvested a lot of my own stuff, and paid maybe $3 million for uber resources. I sold 50 sets of packs for $6 million, so I've already made $3 million. And whatever else I do with the 100 remainingbuff packs is just cash in the bank.I could sell all the remaing buffs at $2K each, and still come out ahead. And I have enough resources left to craft 150 more, so I could keep this up for months.

The thing that doesn't make sense is the customers. Are they happy that there's only one doc buffing at Coronet? Instead of spamming all around that there's a doc buffing for $2K, I'd spam over and over again that "Evil Buff Bot is the reason other docs don't come to Coronet. If you want shorter lines in Coronet, boycott Evil Buff Bot." Won't work with everyone, but enough people are supportive of this kind of stuff that they'd boycott EBB,

You're on the crack pipe, Rugs. I don't mean that as a flame, I'm just joking. But what you're describing is a taste test. Pure capitalism is theunrestrained pursuit of money. It includes all kind of artificial measures to change customer behavior. Ever seen a beer commercial?

Quality and price are both variables. How do you think it should work...that quality should vary, but price should remain fixed? That is definitely not capitalism. In capitalism you get to change both, in the effort to out-hussle your competition.

This person is trying to out-hussle the competition. In a way, though, that is illegal in the US. It's called predatory pricing, and the US doesn't allow it because it hurts consumers (since it limits competition).

I can't speak to other servers, but I know that on my server there's never a shortage of paying customers in Coronet. If somebody came and sat beside me selling buffs for 2K and I'm selling 'em for 10K I wouldn't drop my price. I might have a customer line of 3 people instead of 10-15, but I wouldn't ever be just sitting there wishing I had a customer (assuming there's just the two of us... I've been to Coronet sometimes where there's 4 docs buffing.... I just buff myself and go hunting).

For the most part, it's only predatory pricing if you sell below cost. Chains like Wal-mart cutprices to the bare bone and make a huge profit on volume, which is what this doctor seems to be doing. They have deep pockets, credit, smooth distribution and economies of scale behind them, which is why the small stores can't compete. Vicious, perhaps, but not generally illegal.

I'm thinking the move here is to pick up scout skills and a harvester droid and go whack some birds..
