And some of use will be doing this NOT to become a Jedi totally but only for the FS enhancements we can get. It is nothing short of a slap in the face how much extra effort it will be for a Doc to take advantage of these. Every other profession will have a much easier go at it, so keeping it this rediculously difficult for doctors will not make there be less jedi. Only less docs as everyone scrambles to drop the one profession that can't expect to get anywhere in even the lower FS trees in anything short of a lifetime.

I should care about this since I REALLY want a second character slot....but somehow I can no longer give a **edit** about this messed up system anymore.

Old man == a few badges. Nothing secret about it. Getting to the village won't be hard, if we put it that way. I don't think anyone really objects to it being hard to get a Jedi. However many object to it being many many times harder than for a fighter. They have a better conversion rating (15 to 1, due to both weapon and combat xp earned at the same time), a much higher cap (900k and 300k respectively) and a much easier time getting xp (you can cap the weapon xp in an hour or two). So those 900k weapon xp and 90k combat xp will give you 60k FS xp. To get that many via medical xp you'd have to get 1.2M xp, or approximately 1000 buffs. Buffing constantly this would mean 4 hrs and 10 minutes (with not a single second break). Using typical buff pack pricing of 20k / 30 charges this would also cost you 666k cr. Now this doesn't take in account that the warrior can do this in one sitting, and probably can double the xp if (s)he has mastered two weapons (all on one buffpack). A doctor would have to go to dathomir 15 times to convert xp.
Now do you see why the cap and/or conversion rates are a bit "off"? Of course, grinders most likely would sit on dath with tumblers, pet buffing or other methods that do not require playing the game. However why is it that you need more xp of a type that you accumulate a lot slower and which has a significantly lower cap?
When it comes to crafting it's even more insane since there's no way at all to unlock even a single box without grinding. At master levels you get minimal xp since factories are mainly uses. So look forward to grinding tens of thousands of items using 10s of millions of resources (if you want to unlock using crafting xp).
Worst. System. Ever. No imagintion. How this is better than hologrinding, other than for combat chars, I don't know.

First of all though, before you can go spend Med XP on Jedi, don't you have to be chosen by the Old Man? I don't think anyone really knows the requirements to get visited by that crazy bastid, but that could be the population control right there. I know though, if I AM chosen, once this goes live, I am definitly using Med XP instead of Combat. I know it's gonna take a long time, but I don't want the reward as soon as I start, one day, on one of my many trips to Dath, I'm gonna hit that point, and then I'm gonna be happy.

I agree..hard cap should be raised or the xp conversion should grant medical xp more FS xp....

weee the jedi "paradox"
the jedi profession is a cancer to SWG, it has done nothing but cause grief, whining, and brought unbalancable situations to the game.
i am sickened that they are allowing Force sensitivity to all players which will be relatively easy to obtain..... which means that everyone will eventually have to get FS to compete in crafting etc.
the bottom line is, jedi is here unfortunately, nothing i can do to get em to delete the profession (though if i had the power it would be gone lickity split) but if your going to be jedi, then if it takes months to years, then thats great so i must
/reject
(grinding is not my idea of playing a game, grinding makes it more like a job, which i already have a Fulltime job in RL)
