oh my bad, guess not, wasn't thinkin.... heh if u really wanted to you could do this

log in with jedi

/quit

log in with doc

go buff jedi while he is LD

/quit doc

login as jedi

i know its weak but its possible... the buff should stay

That doesn't work, because your still using the same account.

Short answer is No, you can't use your unlocked toon to buff your jedi. The only way to do it would be to get a 2nd account.

i beg to differ

no - it is not possible to have 2 characters logged on at the same time that are associated with the same Station ID

however, it is possible to /quit instead of /logoff to immediately free your station name to allow to reopen SWG sign in as that station id again, choose the different character and buff before the first character goes from (LD) to not there at all.... i've done it

It sure work to buff on the same account. Did that as late as 2 days ago. I am not only able to buff all stats but also heal wounds. Some days ago I even did a rez on same accout and my doc was a bit away. Had to switch back and forth because I had not consent. Also my dead toon did disappear (probably a loading bug) but finally got the corpse back.

To buff on same account do this:

1) be outside and standing. I think you go LD a lot faster when inside and sitting.

2) exit character you want to buff using disconnect (using the menu from shift-esc). Do not exit program!

3) login with your doc (actually not login just select the toon from the character menu)

4) Buff the (LD) character

If you for some reason is not quick enough then logout the doc and login with your other character and repeat.

I never had to use Halva, even when buffs were slower. Just use the Disconnect (not exit to windows), buff the LD char and then Disconnect/reconnect with the buffed char. Always has worked like a champ.

In your case when you try to log your other char on the char you currently have on will automatically be logged off but will stay in the SWG world long enough to buff, only problem you will have is not knowing how long you have left on your buffs(you can approximate as you will know how long your buffs will last).

If you add /multiinstance to the command in the short cut, you're first char won't be logged out. Since I have not unlocked my second slot, I can not verifie if it's doable on the same server but I have done it chars on different servers.

I don't know why there is so much misinformation about this. YES you can have 2 active toons on the same account logged in at the same time. I do this all the time. All you have to do is log in your doctor. Get him ready with food and droid out,be were you alt will log in at. Tab out and log in your jedi tab back over to your main(if your on old jedi, alt if your a new jedi) buff your jedi then log out your doc. The only catch to this is that your first instance logged in will be automaticaly log out any were from 1 to 5 minutes.

This may be fine and dandy but there still is the timing issues, i.e you have to work fast.
By doing what i will describe below, you will not have any timing issues and can log them at will, i.e you can log your doc to rebuff your jedi without having to do any other relogging to get the "order" correct.

Edit options.cfg and add the following 2 lines:
[SwgClient]
allowMultipleInstances=true

Next, make that file read-only. I have never gotten it to work without making that file read-only. This edit is to make so that you can run multiple clients on that machine. I have gotten DX errors before when I tried this without that addition, not sure nowdays though.

Next, add /multiclient (correction from my post above) to the shortcut(s) that you use to launch SWG with, that allows you to login with the same account miltiple times without restrictions. SWG uses that one when you install a TC version of SWG from the launcher.

You CAN NOT have the same account logged in twice and playable; it has nothing to do with characters, servers, or anything else. It has to do with your login. 1 account.....1 playable toon.

It doesn't work....if you have 2 accounts then you can do what you say, but with one account you can not. It doesn't matter what you do. You may catch your "jedi" in LD, but you can not have both logged in, playable, with one account.

YES YOU CAN. I have done this every day for lets see 8 months. If you don't have a jedi then you have no way of knowing. If you don't beleive me create a toon on lowca and I will show you.

For the other guy again I have done this for months and have never had a problem buffing my jedi. There is more than enought time to buff and do a trade tip him some credits or even duel.

I am jedi and have unlocked my 2nd toon. . By using this user.cfg file exactly as stated, you are able to log both toons in on one computer to the same server. Try it and see!! And just alt / Tab to switch between the 2 toons. Just make sure you're on a high end gaming machine is all. It does work, but I still get crashes, so i'm going to try 2 separate computers w/ a router to see if stability improves.

RangerRex is correct. You can have two accounts logged on at the same time on one PC. I have just used both of my accounts to aid a fellow guildie Jedi by getting his mission with my BH and then Rezzing him with my Doc straight away. As previous posters have stated just drop the added file into the 'SWG program file' and there you go. Buff you're self to you're hearts content. I've been doing it since November with no probs what so ever. Things so tend to slow up a little when using shuttles with both the accounts running at one time but I don't run both simultaneously for long periods anyway, only to buff myself when no one else is around or when a guildie needs a Doc for anyreason. You do need two accounts though as you can only have one account on one server with one key-code, unless you're a Jedi, as previously stated.

Incase anyone wants to know you logg on for you're first account, alt-tab out onto desktop. Logg on again as you did the first time untill you have loaded the second account. Then to swap between the two just alt-tab. I don't make a habbit of alt-tabbing too much cos i find it slows down a bit too much. Do what you want with both accounts then simply logg off which ever one you want and return to the remaining one.

I've got 1gb memory, 2.53 P4, ATI 9700 pro. Works fine for me :@) .

I think the orriginal question was about buffing your alt with a single account.

If you have a Jedi and a Doctor on the same account (the Doctor is the free slot opened when becomming Jedi) it is still possible to buff yourself. but you cannot log both characters on as the same time.

You need to

1. Bring the Jedi to where your doctor is located (you wont see him because he isnt logged in). - Dont get too close - 10m away, or it wont work reliably.

2. SHIFT-ESC and choose disconnect

3. Choose the doc character from the selection screen and conect.

4. Get out your droid, eat your bivoli and havla

5. Approach your Jedi who should be LD, get to 6m then apply all 6 buffs

6. SHIFT-ESC, choose disconnect

7. Choose the Jedi from the selection screen and connect.

You now are back in teh jedi having received a buff from the other character.

There is a limitation that you will not see the buff timers (this may have been fixed in 14 last night from soem stuff i have read though)

WARNING: Some Bounty Hunters will use this as an oppertunity to kill you even though you cant fight back while LD, so DONT do it in the same place at the same time over and over again.
