Thread: Doc got hit too hard by the nerf bat.
wow that last post i swear i have seen same exact wording somewhere before....
but anyways....
it is true you are more likly to get healed by a CM then a doc... but that is because it is easeir for most people to pick up some CM then doc because they already have the 1 tree from marksmen....
doc's are much better at single target heals then CM and with the right alotment of extra skill points even with cm skills they are better.....
doc's still have Buffs, they just arn't the long duration buffs anymore, which encourages more people to DRAG a doc along with them, to keep them buffed....
they get fire/poisen/disease cures
now while these are currently useless in PvE they are usefull in pve...
the inoculations will be usefull in PvE once they fix poisen on mobs....
and can't forget the Wound Healing abilities....
also don't forget the Rez.... which is the best of the 3
the rez arm, rez's you incapped, and 9 times out of 10 in a combat situation the target dies right after the rez....
cm Rez rezes with like 1% to all pools, which just sucks
Doc Rez - actually not sure as I have never been rezed by a doc...
don't get me wrong, I do know a lot of MDoc's..... but all of them are a MELEE profesion.... which is why you see more cm's cause ranged is king right now....
if I missed your point Anach plz let me know

This issue has grown tiresome.
Useless? How can I consider myself useless when, every time I log in at Dant MO, I'm immediately spammed with offers to /join somebody's group, before I'm even loaded? Instead of having a buffline in front of me, I have players lined up waiting for wound heals. I try my best to oblige anyone that needs my help, which is pretty much all the time.
As for the stims, OK, everybody can use them now. But here's a little math (these figures are rough approximations...if they're inaccurate, then I apologize, cuz I'm not in game right now![]()
Stim D (witn no food for timer): 1300 dmg every 60 sec. With just bacta jab and bacta shot (one time each with MDoc abilities): bacta jab~500 dmg+bacta shot~900 dmg=1400 dmg, with about a8 sec cooldown for bacta jab and about17 sec for bacta shot. If you spam those two heals continuously for 60 sec you get this:
(bacta jab~500 dmg*7=3500 dmg)+(bacta shot~900 dmg*3=2700 dmg)=6200 dmg in 60 sec. Even with that magic food that cuts the stim timer in half, these two heals will still outheal a stim D by 1800 dmg over a 30 sec period, and that doesn't include bacta infusion, toss, spray, or whatever else we choose to use!
So, if you're wondering where all we doctors may be, we're out in the field...HEALING PEOPLE, GROUPING UP, AND HAVING A BLAST. To those of you who have quit the game, I'm sorry to see you go...really I am. And to those of you who respec'd out of Doc, well, when you have 800 wounds come see me in MO and I'll take care of ya, but you'll have to take a number and wait![]()
If I wasn't a Doc, I couldn't solo whenever I feel like it. Not mobs of my own level (cl80+), anyway.
They took crafting away because Doc is now a COMBAT profession. Can you whiners understand that?
Tailor is a crafter. What armor mitigations do they get? What defenses do they get? NONE
Can you even guess why?! Probably not. Let me tell you:
Crafting is NOT (that's right, it ISN'T) related to combat!
Does CH craft? No. BE crafts pets that CH can use. Are you going to complain about that too?
Mdoc/Mcarbs and I solo doesn't get any better than that. When I land at agro on dant I pick and choose which group I want. Normally, when I Jedi sees me I get picked up. Not only for healing but for damage dealing. I pick and choose what XP I want to fill. I can rez, heal, buff. And I don't have to buy or craft meds. Docs are bred for healing in combat not standing next to AFK tumblers or dancers. Every role has a purpose, I happen to like my combination, and I still have a respec that I will probably not use.

HeHe, 1) what are COMBAT medics for, combat is in the freaking name!. 2) many docs did not get there becausde of tumblers and afk dancer. The ones that did are running around wearing the jedi tags.
A follow up on the tumbler/dancer comment. If they did not change doc at all during the combat upgrade the changes to the HAM would have eliminated players sitting near theAFK players. The action bar can not be healed anymore, so that removes a medic from sitting with the AFK player.

I can understand that they changed or are at least enforcing the Doc as a combat profession but all the changes to SWG have come from some group whining about it. Hell, if no one whined there may be only 1 or 2 jedi running around because people would still have to figure out what professions they need to open up the force sensitive slot. Instead, people whined and we got the holocrons, they whined some more and we have the current system. If people did not whine that docs made so much money they may not have changed Doc to what it is now.
I love being a doc,I love helping other players and as a doc I can do that best.I am not good at big groups but can take smaller groups out.
Frostbite
BTW, my comment was aimed directly at those who are calling "omg, let us sit in a medcenter all day and master off wound-healing! omg, make our buffs godly again!".
You know what is so funny, everyone one in my guild calls on me still! I am call'd on for hunts, our pilots call on me, and our solo's call on me! Even our fighters say if only they had a few more points to take a lil bit of doc or medic. No heal'n no fight'n. I am lvl 65 and take out the same things our lvl 80 fighters do. Sure it takes me a lil longer, but I do it. I only know that cause we put on competition. That isn't my norm. I love DOC, sure it is a lil harder than pre-cu. my heals aren't as strong nor as fast. But I have adapted and can still keep my party alive! You don't like it, maybe you are in the wrong party. Maybe you are not really play'n a doctor. There are doctors then there are dabblers. And I believe it is the dabbler, those who got doc just to support there combat, that are winn'n the most. True docs like what they have and know how to use what they got!
MASTER DOC since July '03
Well, I just respecced Novice Rifleman to Novice Doc last night and have to say I'm liking it alotso far. I don't plan on mastering it (only going to have enough points for 4/0/0/0), but Ithink the skills I already have and will obtain from this treewill complement mymeleeprofessions in a big way.

I am no longer a Doc, as i couldnt maintain this and still have an income. Went Droid Engineer instead. Although I miss having Doc on hand and everywhere. There are now plenty of substitutes.
*doubles over laughing*
You went to DROID ENGINEER to have an income?!?
*clutches stiches in side*
That's probably the least profitable crafter class I can think of. Makes things that are pretty much just luxery/vanety items, extremely low demand, little volume, and very little recurring business.
My wife's a droid engineer, and I must admit, it looks like a fun profession, but if crafting income is important to you, I can think of many other professions that would be more profitable. Nearly all the artisan crafting professions, in fact.
I actually used my final respec to return to Doc, so the nerf bat thing is in the eye of the beholder. I'm perfectly happy with my character, and wish you the best of luck with your new profession.
