I am truly sorry you had bad time in Coronet's Med center. Let me officially apologize on behalf of my fellow Docs. If you are ever in the area again and need assistance come see me (axishunter). There are also a few other Doctors who are very polite and would never do anything like that : Zath , Saxxo and Eepo. They've all done favors for me and were very polite. BTW a good tip for me is between 500 and 1000. The rare times I get 2000 bucks I am so gratful my patient can't leave without getting full of thank you's!

Have a prudent day.

The doctors that were dealing with you [or rather that you had to deal with] were no more than assholes at best. I would *never* speak to a customer like that. The only time I've ever told a customer to leave w/o heals [b/c I was the only Doc around ] was an Imp I had recently killed earlier and all he did was talk **edit**. Funny how things change when all of a sudden he needed to be healed... "oh comon, I was just joking man!" Ya whatever...

Anyways, I am a Master Doctor, and I still hit up the med center when I see a bunch of dots and get people moved out in short order w/o giving one word of tip request, even though it's entirely at my cost [no xp needed, gave up combat medic]. I heal someone up, give'em a /smile and tell them they are good to go and to have fun on the outside. If they tip, I /thank them, if not I bid them a good farewell. Tell you what, I've gotten alot of favors from people and alot of people come to me for medical supplies b/c of it too.

Additionally, when I see a medic/doctor in the med center demanding tips [not asking politely, demanding], I am quick to heal their patient and "scold" them for bringing a bad name to my profession. The last thing I need is someone running around giving the nice Doctors like me a bad name. I also apologize to the patient on behalf of the Doctors that actually care for the patients, not the tips. Heh, if you are in the profession for creds, it's time to find a new profession.

ANYWAYS, after all that...
I'd say if you are tipping 1000-2500, that is quite good IMO. Rarely am I tipped more than 500 at best, and when I am, I'm grateful for it [even if that person is wearing an elite profession title and I know they make plenty more ]. You say you don't wanna hear "whatever you feel is right", but honestly that's what it is. Same thing I say about tipping entertainers... tip as much as you can and still feel like you aren't being cheated... "Don't cheat yourself, but don't cheat the doctor either"

Doctors get tips? I must be in the wrong city.

On a more serious note, I think that anything above 200 would do. I get alot ofcustomers and more than half don't tip me but I am having fun just doing my job. Odd how you were treated, haven't ran into that yet (a good thing).

Good luck out there!

Just for the record I have been in Coronets Med Center COUNTLESS times, and this has only happened once. I have probably crawled into every Med Center in the galaxy at least twice, and this has only happened this one time. All the Doctors and medics I have met, novice to master, have all been really nice all the time, and treated me very well. If it is not to crowded they usually sit down and talk for a bit, asked me what has happened and how I got hurt, tell me about the guy who was in there erlier and so on...

A novice medic came running after me once when I had tipped him 2k. He was all alone in the Center, stressed out of his mind, and a lot of people was standing in line to get healed. It probably took about 15 minutes before I was healed.
He came running after me saying:
"Lady, lady! You tipped me too much! Did you really mean to tip so much??!"

I would like to see a smuggler or a Dancer do something like that, running after you, telling you that you gave them too much money. Of course i did mean to give him 2k.
He still had the Newbie Clothes on, no one should have to wear those. Heh...

You are all doing a great job, keep it up!

For 1/3 HAM? On average, that's around 300 wounds for health/action(600 total), plus other assorted wounds. Some go by the 2 cr/wound thing. I think 1 cr/wound is reasonable. I would personally tip 500-600 if it's slow healing, 1000-1500 if it's a three or four heal deal.

Yah, a novice medic healing slowly has to spend more time, but I expect people pay for speedy service and cost of good medicine, not a half hour of wound a's. It's fun when I come across a novice medic healing a nearly black HAM. Out of pity, I'll ask if I can help out.

Medic: "Go away, I need exp. He's a gold mine!"
Patient: "HELP MEEEEEE, I'm a casual gamer, I can't sit here for an hour!"

Doctors like that should really just get out of the med center. They can quote a fee up front, which is easy to determine now that we can /diagnose. There's absolutely no reason for a master doctor to treat a random stranger like that. Besides, if he's only healing for tips at master doctor and not enjoying the medical center atmosphere, why is he even there? Seems very bizarre to me. I wouldn't take this to be the norm.

Yeah - I've run into this, as well. However, I have a similar problem that lends itself fairly well to a solution to this. My problem is that my inventory is always so jammed full (I sell stimpacks for a living, so I've always got a ton of resources on me) that I can't afford to have 6 medpacks of every flavor with me. Therefore, I've now gotten to the point where I carry B's in every flavor and C's in Health and Action. For most folks, that will get them back out and running with about 1 heal to each bar - if the wounds are really bad, it might take a couple. With how cheap it is to clone, you seldom see anyone with horrible wounds anymore.

However, since the lowest meds I carry are B's (which easily heal for well over 100 wounds), I'm reluctant to heal someone with 25 wounds to every bar - I feel like I'm just wasting my meds. If there's a novice medic around, I let them heal those wounds while I take care of the bad ones to get those folks out the door and back on their way a bit faster. If there isn't a novice medic around, I'll often use tendwounds so that I don't use up my nice meds or, if the wounds are really light (less than 10), I just tell them to sit back and relax for a minute or two.

You were treated rudely, I agree.

I don't generally heal in the medical ctrs anymore because there is usually plenty of people who will heal without even asking for tips (u should tip them something 100-500 maybe), but it might take them awhile. Frankly, I don't heal at all anymore without payment in advance unless it is my friends or group. It's my opinion that a Master Doc (or even Master Surgeon) should expect to get paid 1000 credits minimum for his services. High level doctors provide very fast healing of even complete HAM bars and you just can't get that anywhere else. Smaller wounds or slower treatment cost less from novice medics and such.

If no one is healing you or value fast healing, I suggest you politely ask a doctor or highest level medic their price to heal your wounds. They can use /diagnose to determine a price. Negotiate if you need to and pay in advance. You will be appreciated. By the way most docs probably have a medical droid and don't need a med center to heal you, so you can always try in front of the starport or wherever you see one.

I think most doctors are very open to healing anyone who asks but will expect payment. I said before that I have a 1000 minimum, but can't imagine asking for more than 2500 for a full HAM bar heal (uber-fast mind u). Hope you find this helpful.

I charge 100c a 'heal'. In your case, probably 600 credits. I always thought the 2cr per healpoint was way too high as a standard. But as you can see, there are as many different opinions on what to charge as there are medics.

I almost never go to Med centers anymore. It's rarely a fun experience and I get better xp elsewhere. I do still feel it my duty to heal black bars when I see them, so whenever I am in a city Iusually have my droid out to heal them. I don't ask or demand a tip, but when given one I am always thankful. If it is a rather large tip for the heals givenI usually give the person a buff or two. Doing that, I've found encourages people to tip and creates a market for buffs . I've had quite a few former patients offer to pay for a buff when they see me walking through town.

hmm. Well, my regular enhancement customer told me once that after i've ehanced him he can go run missons and make 300k in the time period they last. 1k per statfor enhacncements is a pretty low price compared to that. However I have a steady business with him and more people that are requesting them. I think if you want to make a comfortable living as a doctor (not get rich, just cover travel expenses/resources) enhancements are the way to go.As a master doc/master CM i do not heal for freeat med centers unless its a medic/doc/cm. My fee for my stim usage whether its 1 wound or 1000 is 1k credits. non negotiable. If you dont like it, sit there. If you belittle me /addignore.

Seems like we have both extremes here and some in the middle. Kinda like real life when my five year old had a v-shaped broken arm and was being a trooper waiting for the doctor, while some punk with a small cut on his head was complaining up a storm because he had to be in emergency ward at 1am instead of partying. I chose to be a doctor to help people and contibute to society, not to get rich. I too give out heals without asking for tips and wish them well when they leave. the only thing i wish would change is the ability as a neutral doctor to heal all people regardless of faction. I have found that if I remain professional that people will remember me and tip me later when they run across me because they didn't have the credits at the time. i also get a lot of repeat customers who engage me in brilliant conversation while they are being healed. When i am not healing them in the med center or roaming the city with my surgical droid, I am playing my music in the cantina and healing their mind. One solution i have seen is a mouse droid( cheap!) with the name tipjar. you could even have a mouse out that is named tips_are_appreciated. It is all in the way you look at the way you play. if you want money and don't really give a crap about people other than yourself then play a bounty hunter or something. 'nuff said
