i don't like this idea either. if u don't like buffing people that u don't know, just don't do it. if someone thinks buffing is a great way to make creds, good for them. let them do it. i don't play to make creds, i play to have fun. i don't want to associate with impatient a$$hats, so i don't buff the public, unless i need a few extra creds to get somewhere to earn serious creds with my scythe.

I don't like this idea.
We're talking about having the ability to double/triple your ham bars for 3+ hours. Imagine if you could do this anytime you wanted? .. well if everyone could? I know what it's like as a doc to be able to do it.
People say buffs have ruined the game as it is. What would they say to this?
Besides .. we wouldn't want a spam free starport would we?! Seriously ...

Ok, I lied, I will post here again, with my final idea.
Waiting in line 20 minutes for buffs isn't fun, you can't disagree.
I realize there is a chef buff that increases your healing rate. But, this isn't effective at buffing a line of 30 people, it doesn't last long enough, it's expensive, and your stomach gets full.
You can't change the way this chef buff works without imbalancing wound healing speed, so my final proposal is:
Make a new mod, something like: Doctor Enancement Speed
Now, at Master Doctor, this mod would be, say, 100, at at 100 you would buff exactly as fast as you do now at master. But there would be a new chef food that buffed this mod, at would last a long time and wouldn't fill up your stomach, and wouldn't be insane to make.

Why do buffs have to be applied by a doctor? Instead of paying 10K for a doctor in Coronet to buff me, why not just sell them at a vendor for 10K a set?
I don't see this is a super-huge balance issue, but maybe there is something I haven't considered.
Oh, I am sure the one thing SWG needs is even easier buffs. We definately need everyone to be buffed 100% of the time, not only 95% of the time. And we can't risk having anyone have to decide whether to wait for a buff or risk doing some medium-level missions unbuffed, no siree.
Oh, BTW, I was being sarcastic!
Self applicable buffs are called food and drink, and it's part of the balance that buffs are either instantly applied by everyone with lower duration and lower effect (food) or only by trained personell under controlled conditions (doc buffs). Self-buffing for everyone would disturb that balance.
You can get by with just food unless you PvP or are only looking for high-end content. Try it.

No way.
Right now there are only two ways for Docs to make serious coin: Selling Buffpacks or Applying Buffs.
The high resource requirements to make Adv. components and D enhance packs makes being a crafter much less attractive... I'd hazard to guess that the ratio of non-crafting to crafting docs is 6:1
Soyou'retalking about removingthe main source of income for approx.83% of the doc population.
The ONLY way I would even consider the possiblity of self-applying buffpacks is
1) reduce the resource requirements on Adv. components and buffpacks (i.e., use ANY fiberplast and ANY wild wheat instead of Tat fiber and Lok wheat - or that damn Avian meat!
)
and 2) make A-C packs self-applying ... D enhance packs wouldonly applicable by Master Docs.

i dont think doctors should take such a huge hit because people dont have the patience to wait 20 mins(which i think is exagerrated, longest ive ever waited is about 10, and that was a 15 person line), just watch TV or somethin, jeez...

I suppose I could go doctor myself, but I really don't want to. Sure, I have doctor friends, but sometimes they aren't around, or are too busy to give out buffs, or are just out.
I can't say I see the logic here. I mean, I can't solo anything high level, I suppose I could drop something and take up TKA or Swordsman, but I really don't want to. There should be a way for me to do that damage without taking the professions. Seriously though, if the only solution is to take up doctor, either you do it, and have the ability, or you don't and find other ways.
I'm not trying to flame or anything, but if only master docs can use buffs, and this change was made, the only reason to be a master doc would be to craft the buffs. What about all the docs that go out and buy packs and buff with them, now they can't get money because everyone is buying the sets instead of having them applied by docs. There's also the thing to consider: If you apply them to yourself, what's the stat going to be, you ahve no wound treatment mods, no 110 med droid, no +24 bivoli, no +25 wound treatment clothes. Literally, if you bought a set of 850 buffs, you would buff yourself for 850 points in each stat. Docs generally TRIPPLE the pack value. This is a problem with game balance.

I as a doc have many times seen lines up to and over 25 people, it can be very annoying. But realize that usualy there are other docs not just in starports, so if a line is ever to long i bet you anything there is another doc who would love to help you. Ive shown up at cornett and placed my droid and here a ton of guys getting mad because they just payed to wait in line for half an hour lol, so just keep your eyes open, there is always another doctor, most of the time, depending where you are, i just contradicted myself a bit there, but whatever lol. You know what I mean. My biggest gripe with the whole self buffing thing is that, inorder for me to crap my own buffs, it would take an infinite amount of my time to actually be able to make decent buffs, i rather spend a ton of creds than spend my life away looking for stuff. I could probably make atleast 2-3 times the profit, but i will go 2-3 times more insane. I dont have enough time as it is. you gets ever hear of havla? instead of making there be a need skill for enhancement speed, make havla work longer than just 24 heals. But i do agree it should be limited for doc's only and not cm's because (i am a cm) that would be way to disgusting lol. maybe make a new food for just that, give chefs more business?!

If buffs are self applicable, make the highest level buffs not self-applicable, as well as biv. taking no effect on self-applys as well as seas/cloths towards med use. This would crush the doctor job market. Terrible idea.

Why do weapons have to be sliced by Smugglers? Why does armor have to be crafter by an armorsmith? Why do droids have to be crafted by a droid engineer?
Because that is their job!!

I'm not going to post here anymore, because nobody reads past the first few posts anyway. Flame on, flame on. Whatever you say, the buff situation will continue to suck. It's one of the lamest aspects of this game, and it's 1 of the 2 reasons I've been playing CoH more and more lately.
