giving doctors the ability to heal mind DAMAGE (not mind wounds) would have no effect what so ever on entertainers.

Just make master entertainers mind buffs last longer like on the range of doc buffs...


lord knows none of the entertainers will complain

I still just ask myself 'why?'



Yes, right now mind is a mitigating factor in combat. But no one says that doctors or any one class has to be the solution to heal it. There are many actions people can do to enhance their mind pool (and protect it) - the two most obvious are spice and armor (enhancement and protection), neither are perfect, but both have their uses. But if there is already a way to enahnce the mind (i.e. smugglers), why do we need a way as well?

because if its attackable physcially, then as medics we should be able to heal anything that is attacked physcially and thus buff it from harm


if its mental and the realm of entertainers theres no need to buff mind...


this is basically the paradox of his entire discussion?! Is mind damage physical or mental?!


if its mental only make it a mana pool and take out all mind damage from combat and shift rifleman to doing 2k + damage to H and A post damage reduction to assure they maintain one hit incap ability and make the effects of BF much more severe in order to keep the need for entertainers since mind wounds will be out of game. (Oh and take CM mind Dots out too)


If its physical and targetable , then give some one a mind heal and mind buffs (and definately not medics) so we can defend against attacks...


basically is mind damage a special pool or not? if so how is it special?! the mind stim/mind buff issue is just the **edit** love child of the duel mind damage system

Skrimgeour: Because Smugglers also make Health and Action Buffs, and Chefs do as well, but they also get Mind Buff abilities. So why do they get mind buffs as well, but we don't? It actually makes LESS sense that every other class who can buff Health and Action get Mind, but not Docs. What's up with that?


But, I would also add that i really don't care if it's a Doc thing to Buff mind, or if some other class got Doc-compatible Mind Buffs to give. I.E. if Entertainer mind buffs last as long, for as much with no side effects just as our other bar buffs, that'd be fine with me.

I know. I just don't happen to think we need it. I think if there is an issue, and *no* profession has the ability to address the issue, then it may be something of significant concern. Yes, mind is the big, glaring weakness right now - but there are professions that can address it (each with their own benefits and drawbacks) to an extent. There have to be tradeoffs so there is no one uber-profession - We do some much already that I can live with this tradeoff as a doctor.

I definitely am getting all ofPistoleer ... having sacrificing CM one box at a time ...


And Elenora just like you said mass migration to BH - well I started a new character on BloodFin to become a BH. There is no question the game needs some small amount of nerfing on Underhand / Headshot / Stopshot / TKA knockdown ... one shot while realistic in the real world ... seems unbalanced in Galaxies.

Do I think there needs to be a way to heal the mind pool in combat? Definatly.


Do I think doctors/CM/Medic should get this ability, or mind enhancement abilities? Nope.


As a Novice doctor, (and having a very good Master Doctor PA friend) I know that Doctors are very powerfull as they are, with our enhancements and also with revive (revive alone makes it worth the effort to me...)


Fact is, if Docs get mind enhancements or mind heals, they become too powerfull. I honestly think mind enhancements are a bad idea, even if only entertainers could give them, because coupled with a doc, players would become uber in PvE enviornments.


So, whats a balanced way to heal mind?


Entertainers. It would have to be an entertainer elite profession, and only availible to masters of that elite profession. At master, they would gain the ability to make mind stims/some other form of healing the mind pool.


I would think that a 150-200 mind heal (max!)would be balanced.


What this does for SWG:


It makes Entertainer more interesting. It gets entertainers out of that little old cantina and out in the field with more people. It helps those people who are with that entertainer because they will survive longer. Coupled with a Doc, that group would be great for hunting.


How to keep this from being too uber? 1) difficult to make. Keep the charges to 15 per stack, and require quite a bit of specialized resources. 2) Ham costs would need to be fairly challenging to manage. The entertainer would heal others mind, but at the expense of mind wounds, battle fatigue, and significant ham costs. This way this option doesnt make players invicible, it would be there for emergencies only.

Entertainers would make the most obvious class to heal mind, but SOE has stated since beta that entertainers are social butterflies not meant to leave the cantina...so giving entertainers hjeals would make the most sense but SOE refuses to do it...


just like they refuse to fix spammed moves by adding immunity timers...


just like they refuse to fix a lot of things...


maybe we should refuse paying?
