Ifa person tipped me 5 Cr, I would tell him to shove it and put him on my ignore list.

I also had another guy announce, I'll tip anyone who heals my quickness wounds. I healed him for 302 quickness wounds in one shot. He then left the medical center. When I asked about the tip he promised, he ignored me. He also hit my ignore filter.

I'm done with healing for tips.I charge for healing.. living on tips makes me feel like a beggar.

I've also experienced a lot of what was already detailed above. It's the main reason I don't go to med centers anymore except to heal myself, friends, or folks that messaged me and promised to pay. I'm here to have fun and dealing with rude little brats just isn't my idea of a good time. So I stay away and have a dandy time As to no heal lists, mine grows larger and larger with each passing day.

Doctor's and medics should all go on strike for three days. Hehe, I'd enjoy that, I might even make trips to the medical center for a while with my doctor sign on hehehehehehe moving around but not healing anyone.... man I'm evil... anyways yeah rude patients bug me so much more than ones who aren't willing to tip. I think the best way to make money is to get to know your customers... unfortunetely as you become a better doctor you spend less and less time with each person you heal.

Anyways, 5k is a lot of money to medics, and that's nearly what I was tipping for getting trained in doctor skills, so I don't blame them for scrambling If you don't do missions, money is hard to come by I think. I couldn't afford paying for a single harvestor when I first became a doctor. In my opinion the best times in the game were when there were no doctors, only medics. Healing people took FOREVER even with multiple people healing. But, it was fun because you really got to know people... almost no one forgets to tip if you get to know them... and if they do, at least you got to chat instead of sitting around twidling your thumbs pushing F5 every few seconds

I feel really comfortable in this forum. I'm ready for master doctor but trying to get that last **edit** crafting skill box. Post-exploit crafting sucks and I completely missed that boat. I don't have a shred of respect for those people that hit master doctor the second or third week of the game because of the factory exploit, but maybe I'm just jealous. Good to see so many people saying the same things as I have said over the past month or so.

Anyways, I have met the good, the bad, and the really ugly. We all have, as I read on this thread. When I hit novice doctor I stopped doing free heals unless I was on the last couple thousand xp for a new skill at which point I would announce 'heals are on the house'. It is so true that people EXPECT us to heal them and that a tip is just a way of saying thanks, and if they aren't thankful, they dont' have to tip. Other professions have guaranteed money for doing what they do and medics and docs need the same thing. I dont ask for upfront payment, but I do give the rate up front and I have a list in my email of people banned from my service for not paying me after being healed. I will rue the day when one of those people is desperate and just happens to find me the only doctor in the area.

Using surgical droid healing vendors will be an excellent solution to doctors and medics money problems I think, except that the med center would be jam packed with droids. I think the only truly viable solution to money issues is good paying missions for medics and doctors.

As for rude people, /addignore <playernamehere> . No more rude people. Rude people don't get treatment from me. Not now, not ever.

What do you guys think about forming doctor unions? I think medics can go solo because the meds really dont take all that many resources and they can do most of their healing for free and get by. My idea is for doctors to form unions, unofficially, and come up with a payment rate for different forms of healing. Basically the same thing as a guild, but the idea is only to push doctors' interests and advocate fair payment. Send me a message if you are on Chilastra server and interested in forming a union. I believe it would take at least 200 doctors to be in a union to have any effect other than just hurting the doctors in it.

This is a good post. I have run into some of these situations. I just recently became a Master DR, but when I was about 10k exp left to get Master I had this guy come into the Med center on Lok and asked to be healed. Mind you, he was the only patient in there and I was the only Dr, so of course I was going to heal him. After I heal him, he did not thank me, but he did say to me " I would tip you, but you get XP therefor you do not need money" and he runs out. Of course, I know a few other Dr's on a few different planets.

This guy will no longer get heals from me, or my friends.

I do not mind if people do not tip me. I know that there are people who do not tip, so I take it for granted. What I do mind, is if the player doesn't in some way thank you for your services. A simple thanks, is worth more than credits to me. I do not need the Cheek that that one guy gave me, so there for he will suffer if I am the only Dr on duty.

ok geez wow all you people are really angry....im master dr in all the real dr skills..hehe crafting im still int wont get adv for a while now...but i dont need anymore medical xp. I really dont care if i get tipped and i would never charge for service thats low imo....i dont understand this ohh it costs sooooo much to amke and oh im poor....i live in anchor 20 minutes spent doing destroy mission on kreetls and gorgs will give you around 20k plenty for your harvesters and all other things. There is no need to tip in this game unless you want to...i myself never tip, ever. With entertianers i heal ther action wounds but thats it and in the medcenter i heal people and people heal me but i never tip.I have all my slots used i pay maintaince up teh wazoo but still im fine for cash, and if you dont ask for money i think people will be a little kinder, i myself have never had a rude patient....but thats just my 2 cents so yeah.

I hear ya... This is why I've abandoned the ER and now I can normally be found with parties on Darthomir, Resin and healing like a mad man and occasionally getting in some nice full auto shots with my carb on the occasional Biznatch. I much perfer this, people are NICE because they know if it wasn't for you there would be a long walk ahead of them and I've actually gotten tips although after the first I normally tell them not to bother since I'm there for the same reason they are... and I can clear 50K medic exp in 2 hours of killing as opposed to that same amount taking me a day in an average ER

I just thought I'd reply to this thread being a new novice doctor and all. I would just like to say that I usually am very strapped for cash and materials. Last time I went to lok with a hunting party I ran out of materials and had about 600 creds on me at the time. I announced this and was able to get to naboo thanks to someone giving me 1200 creds (from my hunting group). Once I got there, of course i had to travel off-world again to my home in corellia-I actually did make enough to purchase a small home-yay!. Anyways, I announced that I was a novic doctor in need of cash to travel and a player gave me 1000 creds. Anyways. This is just one example. But if you are really in need of something, just ask for it nicely...don't demand it or anything and most of the time people will come around...I need to heal one guy once, but I didnt hae the materials to make medpacks, so he gave me more than what i needed to heal him and myself. There are friendly people out there, and you really dont have to look very hard, just be friendly yourself.

Oh yeah, and one of the best places to hang out IMO is in the cantinas when there are actually entertainers in there. All you have to do is heal their action, and they are ever so greatful. great conversations too. Plus one time I did this and was tipped 5k creds by an entertainer!!!

Anywyas, thought I should add my 2cents and there it is. And if anyone reading this and needs my help, if you see me give me a /tell and I'll do what I can.

Heh, I keep a 'blacklist' of patients. Or people who give me crap so I basically ban them of any medical treatment whatsoever from me. I just have a piece of paper I write the names down on. Sure they can be cocky when there's 5 doctors in theed, but wait till you see them on yavin iv sometime in the hospital with complete black bars with you being the only doctor on the entire planet. Listen to them beg for heals, and then refuse treatment reminding them of how **edit** there were before.

It works wonders.

I base out of Tyrena, Corellia on Chilastra.

That's where I sell my stims, and it's where I got my training. I use it as the start point of all my off-planet travels as well.

And the only time I'll head into the medcenter there nowadays is if I'm wounded and want to give some medics a bit of xp, or if I'm bored and want to waste some time by helping others while I wait for a shuttle or an interplanetary transport.

But, after tonight, I'm not doing the latter again. 4 Patients in a row, with severe wounds, and not a single thank you. I didn't care about the creds, but the least they could've done was say 'Thanks'. What do they do instead? Don their expensive armour and saunter out the door like they were god himself.

I heal friends only now. Much less hassle...and at least they thank me.

At the point of where I do not need any money from tipping (a factory producing stim pack b's will really help your income out alot). However, to satisfy my altruistic urges every now and then I will go into a medical center and clear out the more heavily damaged.

Several things annoy me while I am in there before I get my fill and head back out.

Tipping -- really folks, I don't want your 20 credits. If you are going to tip, at least make it something that is respectable. If I get a tip of 20 credits from someone, I tip them back and tell them to keep it.

People exaggerating their wounds is another pet peeve. A person that comes in and can see that the available medical personnel are working on patients and still feels the need to state "In need of healing here". I click on them and see a SLIVER of black showing.

"You didn't finish the job" syndrome. I understand this should be resolved with the patch tomorrow with /diagnose but for now it bugs me. I hook a person up with over 1/2 of their HAM bar and they send me a tell - "I still have wounds". I ask how many and they respond with 6 str, 8 con, 4 qui and 9 sta. I tell him to wait for the next tick and they will all be wiped out. Some people are cool with it and others get all bent out of shape.

Along the same thought process. When I enter a medical center I check in with the medic's that are already there to make sure I am not stepping on any toes. If I am using woundpacks that can clear out 400 wounds in one shot I will leave whatever is left over for younger medics to clear. I am not 'bailing on you' when I do this.

Above all I really hope people begin to understand that people play this game for many different reasons. There are people that actually enjoy making others gameplay more fun by helping them get back into the action sooner (I like to think of myself that way :smileywink and unfortunately there are people that actually enjoy making others gameplay less enjoyable. I can only add my agreement that I don't *NEED* you -- hell my buddies make a much better heal target than some random jackass if all I wanted was medical experience.

Warning: long, rambling, ranting post written while tired.

I personally see all of this as being a self-correcting situation. Yeah, during the first few months of the game people know that most Combat/Medics/Doctors looking to grind MedXP are going to do so in the Medical Center. As such, stupid people will try to abuse this advantage and try to walk all over the people that are helping them -- after all, they're providing what the medical staff needs, wounds to heal to get MedXP. And the sad thing is, they're right. We do need MedXP to increase our skills and for the moment, at least, there is a glut of healers trying to make their way to the skill level they want. However, those with a little foresight (read: polite people who pay for services rendered) have, I believe, realized that this situation will quickly change as time progresses and people no longer need to grind and want their names remembered as being people worth healing (or at least not blackballed). I believe, or at least hope, that in the near future there will be a reversal of the situation once those who enjoy playing healers have no need of medcenters. If all they are is a source of grief then the only time medical folks are going to go there is to do quick grinds to finish up boxes with people idling there watching their HAM slowly creep back to life thankful to see even a Novice Medic. In the mean time, if you wish to speed up this process, here are some things you can do:
Get a patient list
/addfriend [nice person]
If there are a few folks you've met and liked who have a Fight Club-like penchant for being hideously wounded, add them to your friends list and make sure they know that you're the one they want to call on when their HAM is just a bit too black for their tastes.
Blackball
/addignore [stupid person]
It's easy, and it's one less annoying player to deal with. Odds are slim to none you're ever going to want, much less need to talk with them again, and if you do, you can remove them then.
Group in the Medcenter
/invite or /join
I'm perpetually amazed that this isn't done more. Entertainers seemed catch on very, very quickly that life was much easier when everybody was on the same page. It makes training easier, faster, and cheaper, helps ensure fair treatment of patients, and also makes a blackball a real kick in the teeth to the stupid person inflating their ego by belittling those helping them. After all, it's one thing if one person stops dealing with you if there are another dozen willing to fill his shoes; it's a totally different proposition if someone can send a grouptell requesting they be ignored to prevent those shoes from being filled. Let the protocol droid tell him how long the wait for the shuttle to the next town's Medcenter is.
Abandon the Medcenter
A droid with a healing chip and personal chemical crafting station is dirt cheap and the Droid Engineer you're buying it from will probably just be thrilled he gets to sell something other than a probot. Plenty of groups out there need healers to keep them up and fighting. This is how I got my Master titles. Yeah, the medcenter helped me finish up more than one box on my way, but the bulk of it came from helping friends not die. Encourage them to play on Endor, Lok, and other such hazardous places to ensure a steady flow of damage to heal. It also makes short work of crafting since you can get more than enough resources just by having the people you're keeping up and running dump their leftovers on you (one scout and one artisan contributing a couple days' haul to you can running for a week if not several). Plus with your droid following you around and you /following the hunting group leader, you can craft during the entire downtime between fights so that the only time the party needs to /camp to rest and craft is when everyone's minds are totally shot. Seriously, this is the easiest way to avoid dealing with the noise in the MedCenter -- buy a droid and never go there. Besides, I don't know about y'all, but I'm not interested in paying fifteen bucks a month to sit and chat while making stupid people's gaming easier. If I want to chat I've got GAIM and IRC. :-)
Anyway, this turned into a waaaay longer post than I originally intended, but it at least felt good to say. The current incarnation of the Medcenter is not our friend. Abandon it so that we might create a better one for our future.
