Thread: Fake Bank transfer stats
they're giving you money for no reason-- you haven't agreed to perform a service. just take a quick screenshot of your logs as proof that you didn't offer a service, and you're golden.

And what is your approach when you get stealth bank tipped BEFORE you have a chance to tell them you dont take bank tips.
thanks
This only works if a player has a first name and a last name. If they have a single name only you have to manually watch your balance.
It's easy. If the email comes from the player it'll have their first name only. If it comes from the system (via a bank tip) it'll have their first name, last name.
Example. I have a character named "Ima Player". If I send you a valid bank tip the system will generate an email and in thefrom field you will see "ima player". If I just send you a regular email (like a fake bank tip) you will simply see "ima" in the from field of the email.
That'sall there is to it.

the box idea rocks, lets make a petition!!!!!
- From field should say Galatic Bank, like it use to.
- Emails from the system, should bedisplayedin a different color in the CTRL-E list.
- Travin
We don't need to do the box deal. The box will become an annoyance because we will never click "NO". Who's not going to accept money?
What the devs need to do is fix the scam by making a simple way for us to easily identify what's a bank tip and what's a player sent email. They have already said they are aware of the scam. This means we only have to wait 6 months for them to implement a fix. ![]()
They could implement this for instance. If an email comes from a player the name is all lowercase regardless. If the email comes from the system it's all uppercase. Or they could simply have system emails with a different from field. For instance when someone buys something off the bazaar you don't see their name you just see "auctioneer" or something.
Just give us an easy way to identify player sent emails vs system sent emails.

I state in my advertisement macro that I will ignore any bank tip that i recieve, and that I will also ignore any regular tips that are recieved before a player is asked for them. When people give me a hard time about having tipped me to get inlone, I tell them to review their chat log, as it clearly says that all tips will be IGNORED until a player is specificaly asked for one, its as if I never recieved it. Most people realize that its their mistake and will tip me the cash when asked, but others simply up and walk a way, which i have no problem with either.

A Small Point... -------------------------------------------- "No reward is worth this!" Han Solo.
I have found there are docs who don't know about the email scam, I make a point of asking every doc I see who is asking for bank tips if they know about it now ...
I found out about it a while ago, ever since thenI have beenchecking all my bank tips.
Its very easy to spot. For example if my husband Acco Gedo tips me some money the name in the from would read acco gedo but yet in the body of the email it will say Acco Gedo. Now if it was a fake tip it would read from acco instead of acco gedo. System bank transfers put both first and last time. Player emails are just first name.
ButI do agree that we need something that will make it easier to spot fake tips like for example all system email is a different color in the from part or something. I shouldn't have to spend a few secs double checking a tip.
Oh well, maybe they will add something to fix this current probably, or maybe yet again they wont.
Fix went to test today, but the sender's name is onlyin the body of the email. Not a huge pain, but why not the subject?
