I know the fake bank transfer issue has been around for several months. I decided to do an honesty check to get some numbers on how bad it really is today. This is a simple analysis that I thought would be interesting.
Location: Theed Starport, Ahazi Server
- Buffed 35 people
- 17 players paid by bank transfer
- 6 bank transfers were FAKE
- This equates to 35% of bank transfers being false
- or 17% of total players
- That amounts to a loss of $48,000 (Gross)
Location: Dathomir Outpost
- Buffed 35 people
- 12players paid by bank transfer
- 3 bank transfers were FAKE
- This equates to 25% of bank transfers being false
- or 8.5% of total players
- That amounts to a loss of $24,000 (Gross)
Is it really this bad? Can anyone do their own research? I'll try a few more times to try and get better numbers. Fakes are counted by the differnece of my ending balance should be and what it was divided by 8 (the cost of the buff is 8k).

Damn that's an epidemic, your server is infested with scammers! Haven't had a fake transfer in ages here, in fact my only fakes were shortly before names weren't capitalised anymore but I didn't know how to spot them. Looking back I see the fake rate was pretty bad, maybe 1 in 10. Figured now it's so well know most wouldn't think it worth the risk of banzor as I didn't get a fake from the static buff patch right until I effectively stopped buffing the public a couple of weeks ago... and I would constantly watch that balance like a hawk.
Can't stand the thought of getting scammed with all the hard work that goes into my buffs (collect all my own resources over months, including meat). Hope you report all those icky scammers, as if people are still doing it on your server with that regularity not enough people are feeling the sting of a ban stick.

Simple way to end the bank tip scam is to have a dialogue box come up when you're tipped asking if you accept it. The same way the dialogue box comes up for the tiper asking if they are happy paying 5% tax.

No. I meant that the devs could include one so you have to accept a bank tip. no more scam. And yes just being traded the cash would solve the problem but since bank tipping is a major part of the economy then some way to make it safe is a good idea and my suggestion is simple.

Or include in the body of the email
"Your bank balance is now xxx Credits"
That'd work too

oh ok I was wondering. Yeah that would be a great idea to add to the game. I think if I do public buffs I will not accept any bank transfers at all and if they dont like it so long buddy.

Another idea is to have an option to have the system reject tips and bank tips that way you can control how people will pay you (ie. pay through tips only, bank tips only, or both).

in just about all of the cities, the starport is VERY close to the bank. What I do, if their turn is up and they want to bank tip, I tell them to go to a terminal, get the 12k and come back. I also let them know that I will continue buffing, but when they get back they are at the front of the line. As it was said before: If they have a problem, there are other docs buffing.
I especialy like trades or regular tips becuse if you empty your "onhand" cash first, all you have to do is look at how many buff's you've sold (say 15 our of 20) and relize that you should, if all went well, have 180k in your pocket (selling for 12k a buff).
Another nice solution would be to be able to have a tip chat window that only says that you have been tipped XXX by XXXX. That way there is none of the "I allready tipped you!" "ok, let me look back through the hundreds of lines of spam..... oh yeah, yeah you did. Sorry about that" "Stupid doc, your an a$$. I missed my shuttle"
But this will never happen, it makes to much sence.

Please repeat the method to spot a fake tip mail.
And what is your approach when you get stealth bank tipped BEFORE you have a chance to tell them you dont take bank tips.
thanks

I reported this as an exploit, and the Devs do consider this an exploit. I was told that a fix was in the works to eliminate the problem. Currently if I catch a scammer, I have a few doctors and 3 of the largest guilds on the server willing to ban any scammer from all buildings and services. This is not just Doctors, I have recieved responses from Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths willing to ban any scammer.
