Ok well I apparently don't have the ability to quote! Arivan...I understand what you are saying and I wouldn't pay for crappy buffs either. I let each and every one of my customers know what the stats are on my buffs and would never charge a high price for bad buffs.

I guess I am saying if I am the only doc around buffing....whether my stats are good or not, you can take them or leave them. I take pride in my buffs so I only give the best service I can

/t %NT Your next. Please be ready to tip me with the 10k and I will start buffing you.

Has anyone had any success with this ??? The macro /r "insertmesagehere" works find but the /r %NT gies me "%NT is not online"

Great idea but it does'nt work.

Ive beena Master Doc for 2 months, Ive had good times as well as the bad..

Sometimes you just have to /addignore and say NO..

And maybe we should start charging 20K for buffs. or a Docotr Strike.. that will shut em up..

I've been a master doc for quite some time now. I only started buffing recently because I refuse to pay up the wazoo for resources. I happily made my own with great success.

Anyways, I tried buffing once before in Coronet, but there were one or two other docs, so I only had a few customers. I was there a mere 20ish minutes before it became boring, so I packed up and did something else. Here comes the fun part

My first real buffing experience started in Theed. I say quietly in the starport and worked on my macros. I made a /shout ad to fire off every minute and a half, along with an automated reply to include all necessary instructions. Once I felt I was ready, I closed my eyes, said a prayer, and headed to Coronet.

It was night time when I arrived. I pulled out Scalple, my trusty droid, and had him patrol around the spot I would be sitting in. As I was setting up Scalple, a couple people came by and asked if I was buffing. I nodded and said, "Yes, but I have to set up first." As soon as I said that, another five people came by asking for buffs. Tells came screaming in from all angles. I didn't react, instead calmly said "Please form a line in front of me and I'll begin buffing when I'm ready."

There was a good 10-15 people now rushing to form a line as I sat there double checking my toolbar and macros. The first few customers were jockying for first and began arguing. This whole time I wasn't really paying attention to them because I was more worried about having everything set up. At this time I look up and see the comotion. I mere says something like "Guys, I'm not going to choose whose first for you. Work it out yourself because I'm almost ready to begin." They instantly fall into place and chat idly amongst themselves.

Buffing was flawless. I'd get a tell and simply hit my reply macro. I had no worry about bank tip scams so I didn't care how I got my money. After about 20 buffs, the line disappeared and customers only came one or two at a time. The single file line was fun while it lasted. A friendly entertainer came and asked for an action buff. I said he could have one for free, he'd just have to wait in line. He happily agreed and say patiently. By this time another 4-5 people came by and wouldn't form a line, so I had to keep a list (yay /notepad!).

Things didn't get too bad. Tells were more frequent but I was still able to manage. There was one problem when one customer failed to tip me. He said he did, but I had no record at all. I even had a tips window for system messages in case this happened. He complained and whined, I retored as kind as I could, but I eventually gave it to him. This whole time, that nice entertainer backed me up and made that annoying customer go away.

About two hours later, I lost my tag, packed up my droid, and went home. I made over 300k, which I think was nice. All and all it was a good experience. I've tried buffing again in placed, but there's always been too many doctors, so the customer base was low. I know I'll have a hellish buffing day soon, but it hasn't come yet. All I have to say to that is, bring it on

Eurynome, that sounds like a fairly typical buff session to me. Fairly normal really. Sometimes things go better then others but it is more a state of mind that will allow you to actually enjoy the work.

As for people that complain about price, I can say that really don't bother me much anymore. I simply tell them that is fine they can get their buffs from someone else. I won't be offended if they don't want buffs at my price and they shouldn't be offended if I charge a price they don't like. Then if they continue to trash talk me I put them on ignore and go about my business.

In fact I must say I do take some pleasure from making a statement in spacial so the people in line can see it. That I am putting them on ignore now so I can focus on my paying customers.

Oh god guys please don't spam yell your buffs stats when you already have a line going. It gets so old and just clutters up the world.
Instead make a reply macro or a tell target macro so that you send the info right to the person. It is much better for everyone. Place the macro in a hot key and when someone asks then just hit the hot key with all the info.
Even if you are spaming the crap in yells in spacial no one reads that stuff. I sure don't. You wind up getting the same questions anyway.
Here are a few examples:
/r I am charging 10k a set. My buffs hit for 2.2k per stat and last about 3 hrs. Please pay only when it is your turn. I will prompt you with another tell when your next in line.
/t %NT Your next. Please be ready to tip me with the 10k and I will start buffing you.

If you don't read spacial anyway, then my spam won't bother you.

Sending -anything- to %NT is a useless suggestion. When I'm working the line, my current target is whoever is getting a buff - and they already know the stats. I'm not about to re-target in the middle of the macro and then have it screw up so that I then have to figure out what the last thing was that got enhanced and do the rest manually.

As for creating a reply and only using it when someone asks - I don't read spacial either. When I'm buffing I'm reading system messages to make sure they got all 6 buffs, or I'm managing my email list to make sure I didn't miss any.

The only way I even see their question is if I happen to see the balloon over their head, and I'm usually in look-down mode when buffing...which means I don't usually see all the balloons.

I don't like spam any more than anyone else, which is why I make heavy use of /addignore. Anyone is free to add me to their ignore list if they choose - or, like you, just not read spacial.

interesting, you and i buff almost identically, except that i accept any kind of tip and don't charge a set price. but the no-line-cutting, 1-stat buffs get bumped andpay if you want to, calling out the line, only healing significant wounds (i require 50 or higher, and ialmost never heal secondaries if there's a line), disease/poison cures to anyone, blah blah blah...

i try to make it about customer service. most players see doctors as commodities: any doc is as good as the other. my goal is to make the experience as pleasant as it can possibly be so that people will specifically seek me out to buff them. my buff macro concludes with an "all done" kinda thing, but i try to include a personal thank you for each buff. if there's any kind of break in continuity from one buff to another (to break out new paks, recharge droid, whatever) i try to keep the line informed. i try to remember players i've buffed before.

no idea if it really makes a difference i think it does to a degree, my most consistent stream of voluntary 15k tips comes from regulars.

so far i still like buffing better than anything, but the whole crafting thing intrigues the hell out of me. if only i had some skill points for artisan....

ah the joys of being a doc on eclipse!

1) Don't even bother responding to the tells that your buffing announcement already covers. Just send them a reply of that.

2) I can understand why someone would complain about your buff prices if you were at the same price as the master doc. To beh onest, 8k would of been more reasonable for those buffs - but - all you have to say is you could be running janta missions for 300k an hour out of freedom city if you were in it for the money.

3) If someone starts causing trouble with you, don't even bother with them. Not worth the trouble. /addignore them.

4) Buff packs are very expensive, especially for new docs. Keep it up I'm sure you have the hang of it now.

While I buff people pretty often in the Coronet SP [the source is there, I may as well make some money off it], I agree that people [including myself mind you] depend entirely way too much on buffs. As long as I have'em, I'm going to use'em, same for anyone else... I can't wait for the rebalance, hopefully they fix buffs to not be such a crutch.

I normally don't do public buffs unless I'm online at "dead" hours, which I'll port to Theed to see what is happening- and when I stand for 2-3 mins I get asked by about 5 people about buffing, I look arnd and see no other doctors so I go ahead. Daily public buffing is too intense and stressing by what I can tell from other frequent doctors I see in Theed and Coronet, so not for me but unless for when there are no others.

The only thing that pisses me off from customers is those that tip ahead, DO NOT TIP AHEAD and ensure your customers hear you to not tip. It gets confusing and can lead to fraud customers- I had 2 do just that the other night.

So far I'm enjoying doctor, I feel I'm a big help to my home town and gulidies and I work alongside a combat medic which makes us a great team.

Time went by and more customers arrived until I, too, had a long line in front of me. One out of ten customers complained about the price. The first ones are the worst, because you tend to try and explain why it costs so much.
"That's way too overpriced," the customer said. "I was once a doc too, you know, and I never charged that much!" Yet he still wanted the buffs.
"It's probably the raise in the price of avian meat that causes an increase in buff prices. Although, in my case it's more about the time I have to spend buffing," I responded.
After I had buffed him fully, the conversation continued: "Well your time is overpriced for the market".

I believe the raise in the buffprices mostly come as a result of the chef rewamp; Bivoli Tempari.

For bivoli you may have to pay 175k-225k for a crate of good +25 bivoli. Lets say 200,000 for a crate, and you have a price of 4,000 credits each use, which last 14-17 minutes. When business is slow, you will really feel the pain in those 4,000 if you try to make money out of buffing. This resulted easily in a 2,000 average increase from 8,000 a set to 10,000 a set.

Yeah, I know, a lot of Doctors do not use this (where's the selfrespect?), anyway, these docs may still charge 10,000 credits as this is the going rate for sets.

PS! I play on Starsider with starsider economy.
