Thread: NERF Doctors?
I think that food buffs should be allowed to last a lot longer, maybe an hour or more. Spices should be experimented to reduce downers and increase duration. Instead of pulling out a nerf bat at everything, let's think about fixing what's wrong. The main thing with doctors is that buffs and stim sales are our only real sources of income (No Medic Missions). I'm tired ofgetting cussed out when I ask for payment for healing, and nobody want stims unless they're 400+ power.

Personally I'd like to see doc buffs reduced in duration to around 1 hour, food buffs increased to around 1/2 hour, spices increased to 15 mins... remember, a doc buff hits all your stats for more than food and spices.
Also, it should improve the doc economy since you are all apparently unwilling to up your price (where did this ridiculously low 6k buff price come from? Competition? Not on my server), so I assume you wouldn't lower your prices if doc buffs went down to 1 hour. So it should double (in theory) your income...

First off, increasing food buff to 1/2 hour doesn't help chef, it hurts them. And Doctor buff aren't better than chef buff. I am not sure how familier you are with chef buff and their issues, but the reason they are so hard to "fix" is because of their stacking issue.
Food buff stack upto 4 times. That is if you eat a food that give 1000 HP buff for 10 min 4 times, you get 4000 hp buff for 10 min. Add 1000 Hp drink stack it 4 times and now you have chef that can buff your hp by 8000hp. That is why it is hard for Dev to give chef better food. If they increase their current buff of 1000 to say 1500 or 2000, then with food you can buff 12000 to 16000. Compair that with doctor buff of 2000 avg. chef aren't hurting when it comes to AMOUNT.(unless they changed this in test server recently)
What chef need is for them to match the duration of their buff to how long you are "full", that way as soon as your buff runs out, you can eat more. But if they do that then they might as well as permanatly increase everyone's HAM by 8000 and just give chef 10,000 every day for logging in.
As for price of buff, you get 20 charge for each buff pack. at 5k for 6 buff, thats dang near 1k per each charge of buff. So we are making 20k per enhance pack. I don't think any doctors are hurting themselves at that price.
So making it shorten to 1hr would make us just plain greedy.
Also being able to buff mind stats for an hour by way of chef would be VERY bad. It would make rifleman even more powerful than they currently are(focus above 1400 uses next to no mind) as currently I would probably rate them kings of pvp even only taking 90-some skillpoints. With 1400 focus I dont evenuse mind tossing a stimhealing wounds or buffing.Maybe if they balanced this in someway, but I doubt they would do this just to make chef's food last longer. And also, many times you cant eat chef food 4X in almost all the cases(maybe HP I dont know never tried). I dont think I can even eat/drinkFishaks or Vercuppi(sp?) again by the time it runs out.
I believe the timing is fine due to how hard it is to make a good enhance pack, and how many people you have to buff.
If you make the timer say 10 minutes the doc would be sitting around buffing people instead of joining the fight or healing other people.
I believe it would be better to just get rid of the duration and stick to one timer though. That way people have an idea of how much longer they have on their buffs.
Hell even some sort of count down that tells how long your buffs will last would be nice heh. OH well wishful thinking.
On a side note does anyone know if they fixed the crate situation?
Nerfing the doctors buff is just a bad idea, because buffing is one of if not the only good way for doctors to make money. BH and commandos cansolo missions for 6k to 10k with no problem and make money that way, the highest mission that I can solo is 8k in which I have to buff myself and have a great set of composite armour just to have a chance of finishing the mission (which I am nearly dead after completing). Also when I do get money I have to spend it on resources like Herb and Avion meat, which if you haven't check lately is going for 10 to 30 CPU. I pay it why you ask, because I have to it is part of the game's economy. And for the price of buffs set at 6k is the set value for a reason, people won't pay anymore than that. Of course you can find that one or two people that will pay more, but not very often. Just because someone profession is not as strong as another players doesn't mean it needs to be nerfed.
I am tired of people saying nerf this nerf that it is unfair. People decided on what they wanted to be, they knew the pros and cons of it to begin with. If you are master chief don't complain about another profession just because they can do something you can't. I don't yell nerf everytime I get eye shot or set on fire. These are just skills that they have and I don't, which I can live with. Besides I have medical forage and I don't hear anyone complaing thatI have that skill, as stated in another post is the most powerfull AKA useless skill in SWG. Instead of nerfing lets come up with ideas to fix other things like the DE or the merchant.
Don't nerf other profession just to make yours stronger than theirs, that is just dumb. If you don;t like your profession, there is a comand called surrender skill, become something else.
Sorry for gramer or spelling errors this is just the dumbest post I have seen, well other than the nerfing of /citywarn.

For the guy who asks if doctors should be nerfed should really think twice about that. If doctor's got nerfed who would care to be one? So there would be no one around to buff or ress let alone heal you or your wounds. Boy, wouldn't that just make for a fun game?
It's not bad enough that us doctors pay through the nose for our resources and then have to listen to the whines of those we buff because of the stupid large randomness of our buffs (I typically buff 1700+ easily, with most in the 2k mark) but occasionally I get a whacky 960ish buff. Sigh. Anyways, I think muon gold and food should last longer. The current timer for those things suck. Why not fix that and stop screaming for nerfs. I don't see doctors running to the commando or TK boards screaming nerf....hmmmmmm, maybe we should! That might keep people like you quite, at least on our boards ![]()
