I agree with you 100%. Some people take this game way too seriously. I also heal and buff for free. A thank you is all the payment I need. I've been threatened with being banned from cities and vendors for my actions. That seems a little drastic to me. I make my own buff paks. I work to harvest the resources. I'm certainly not going to allow someone to come along and force me to charge for buffing. It's my time and effort that went into it. If I want to give it away for free that's my business. Even if I was buying buff paks it's still not anybody's business what I do with them.
FYI just to clear something up for everybody reading. Doc is not my main profession. I make enough money from my main profession to afford buffing and healing for free. The buffs are not top of the line but good enough for me. That's all that really matters. If I enjoy buffing and healing free of charge, I have the right to do it without being hassled.

I don't charge for res, I don't charge for heals, and for buffs, though i dont tag myself mdoc anymore, if asked by anyone i have ever buffed, i do it, my price can be quoted thusly, "Tip me what you feel I am worth after I buff ya hun" usually those exact words. I am almost never stiffed. And rearely tipped a crappy tip, the buff nazis get on me here and there but I dont dignify them with a reply to me they are just assinine for presuming to tell me how to play aHELPER profession I love, and one I pay $15 a month to play.....

That's just wrong! This is a game for crying out loud G A M E !!! Purpose is to have fun. I charge what I like to. And if I don't feel like charging - I don't.. Plain and simple.
That mail has got to be one of the most pathetic things I have ever heard off!

The email thing was silly - no doubt. It's your money to SOE every month, you do whatever the hell you please (within the game rules of course).
However, I'm laughing more at many of the holier-than-thou responses.
You're all over this person who sent the email and rightly so - but then you bash players who charge a price higher than youaslabel them as priicegougers and greedy.
Bloody hypocrites.

Samuel, by the way it sounds, that was the mil I have been spreading around Starsider.
BUT the way you sound like you were buffing, I wouldnt have sent that too you.
If I did actually send that, please consider it something for when you do go into a higher buisness of buffin (also, i explained many times that all the ideas were mere suggestions, I didnt demand anything)

This is rediculous, You should be able to charge whatever you want.
Sometimes I send tells to Docs charging 10k-12k that go something like this "If you raise your prices you will not lose any customers, just my opinion, your buffs your prices

I would never tell people that they have to raise or lower their buff prices, I just tell them suggestions, and if they dont like them, big deal, they are running their own business, if their time is only worth 8k to them, or if they just want to have fun by being nice and buffing for free thats cool too.
Play the game however you want, its up to you. If you want to Charge 100k for a buff, or give buffs for free, thats your business. However if other people want to send you emails, then they are playing the game how they want too. But dont feel threatened by them or anything lol

I charge 5k for 2000/3hr 6 stat buffs and 3k for 2000/3hr 3 stat (action buffs).. I sit in coronet next to all the other doctors who are offering 500 points above my buffs for 5,000c more and my line is pretty healthy usually.. I use no advanced components at all in the creation of these buffs.
I found that the people who really know how to work with a buff or aren't going in for top end content/PvPgenerally don't bother about the extra 500 points.. People who are short of cash starting out would much rather pay 5,000c than 10,000c, and the impatient people usually hate the stats on my buffs hate waiting in line much more so they come to me eventually.
You know how much out of that 5000c is profitafter I roughly worked out my costs considering I'm a Teras Kast Master / Master Doctor / Scout 0/0/1/0 and while harvesting avian I make cash on missions which can pay forthe factories and harvestors to produce the other ingredients I need ?..
It's as close to 100% as I would care to work out to be honest.. I made a run of 50 sets of 6 the other day which allows me to buff 700 people, I spent 180,000 on some bivoli which should last me almost until the buffs have run out.. That makes 3.5 million for me, at the cost of spending timeharvesting a bit of avian and checking factories... I've used up about 400 of them already in less than two weeks.
No one has complained about me yet for my pricing, but.. There is still time I guess.. My customers on the other hand are always very happy to deal with me it seems..
Am I a bad man ?

To me its not really about profit %, its really more about what your time is worth to you. I mean, I can make a Profit off of my buffs selling a complete set for 3k. But I've spent so much time, gathering resources, crafting, and now Buffing the public, that it is more the time they are paying for, not so much the resources/maintenence/power etc.

And you are hurting their business how exactly? *chuckles* I buff sometimes for pay sometimes for free. I don't charge for healing or res'ing. Perhaps I should watch out for the Doctor Nazi too! *laughs*
