To be frank I was with ya till this part. Clearly if someone is asking for 50 credits for anything they are very new to the game and perhaps rather young.
I think you forget that the game has a full spectrum of players, not all of which are old time adults with a full knowledge of the game and game etiquette.
Perhaps rather than getting all pissy over the precieved insult you could have chatted with the person and found out more about what they were trying to achieve.
Sure, we old timers my know that asking for a payment for a service that was not asked for but already rendered is a bit wrong but dont jump to the conclusion that the person was trying to scam you. They may simply not know any better.

Marrow, you're absolutely right, I didn't even think about it that way. His title said novice doctor so I was under the impression that he'd been in the game long enough to at least get past medic. Granted, some may grind it out fast but I don't think you can even speed grind a profession like medic withough knowing how to make the money to pay for your recources.

I did tip the guy his 50 and he went on his way, it was just irritating. And like I said, I didn't even need the healing as I had just gotten it from my guild Doc

Again, I'm not trying to lump all Docs into this one guy's mold of money making. I have the utmost respect for your prof. Thanks for all the responses and for letting a grungy old Ranger vent a bit.

Im sitting in front of cnet trying to buff when a guy walks up to me and says...can you heal me....this guy had mega wounds on all 6 stats...no biggie i thought I say yes and proceed to heal him but his bf was soo high that my low end wound packs were not cutting it. I only carry a and b for wounds. I say "man this is gonna cost me cause your bf is so high I will end up crafting more wound packs. I am not use to this much wounds on people". So he says yeah my bf is high but I dont care can you just heal them.....he stands there....instead of going to heal his bf which was well over 580....he just stands there....i healed him except for 20 to stanima due to my wound kits depleted he says ok thanks I guess....and then walks away.

I tell you what I hope these people dont mind if I start charging for the high wound heals cause i may do it. I have seen other docs state in thier buffing macro...wounds healed for additional 2k....I may do that...What are your thoughts on that?

Actually I totally disagree. The amount has nothing to do with it. It's the principle. You wouldn't pull this trick on someone IRL or in game if you had any decency about you. Even teenagers know better than to pull a trick like this and actually believe it's their right to receive payment. There is no need to be rude to someone like this, but explanation of how life works is a good come back. I hold no sympathy for anyone pulling this trick.

If you wish to use RL decency in this game then lets see what that makes me.

1. I kill Elder ladies to steel thier money and jewels.

2. I bash my friends head in with a hammer.

3. I run with a pack of rebels and try to poison and disease the athorities.

4. I kill little birdies so that I can make majic that allows me to become a god.

I think you get the idea. This is a game. If someone wants to get their kicks off of doing trivial healing and asking for a trivial tip then let them. There really is no harm. You can alway just say no and move long. From what I read the guy simply asked for a tip. He did not harrase the guy for ever about it.

I just don't see why this warented a thread. It was silly little insedent. One will always find players that do not play by some imagined rules that we have in our own heads. As long as it is not so extream as to disrumpt your game play then just let it go. Clearly asking for 50 credits is not going to be game breaking.

Your right, 50c isn't game breaking, but that is not the point.

It's not about the money, its about the principle. Same could apply to Ninja Buffers. Running around jacking people with POS Buffs, and then saying Oh btw you owe me 5000c. I'm gonna tell the Ninja to take himself elsewhere, because I'm not gonna pay for that. Had I asked to be buffed (regardless of power) Sure I'm gonna pay. Same with asking for Heals, rez, cures, etc. If I ask you to take time from your day, then yeah I will pay what you ask, and if you don't ask I will tip any ways.

I was in space and got an e-mail that said someone had just bought 4 or 5 wound packs of my vendor.Shortly after Ilanded at Cnet starport to drop some loot. I am at the ship term checking stats of new loot compared to what I have when someone tells me to come outside if I wanted heals. I know it's probably a grinding doc, so I said thanks and followed outside. He heals me and we say our goodbyes and he runs off. I notice its the same guy that just bought packs from me. I tipped him 1k. Now I KNOW how much he payed for the packs. 2400 for 44uses. That means he spent a total of 110 credits to heal me, plusd I could have healed myself. But I tipped 1000 because when I was grinding 1 out of 50 people would tip. I never asked for one, but still it costs money to grind up doc. I like that he wasn't using a tumbler too. Healing pilots is a great way to grind out doc.

I usually keep my wounds instead of healing just in case a doc out there needs the XP. Some times I walk around with my HAM mostly black. And when I heal my BF and mind woundsI look for a grinding Entertainer.

You're right. He got past that and was right outside the front door of the starport

It's one of my pet peeves in game - healing or buffing randomly.

A few nights ago, I was buffing outside the Coronet starport (as I usually do) and some wannabe doc sat down next to me with his droid and started buffing me. First of all, I'm a Master Doc with my tag out, if I wanted a buff, I'd do it myself. Secondly, when I asked the twit nicely, not to buff me, he got an attitude with me claiming he was doing me a favor by giving me a free buff. I responded and he spent the next 30 minutes dancing around the starport telling everyone how mean I was because he'd buff'd me for free.

It amazes me that someone with that low of an IQ managed to boot up his computer.

first off.... what an arsehole. that's just rude.

also... 50 credits? how do you make a living? you make more money killing krevols at the termsas a novice brawler than you do doing heals for 50 credits. personally i charge 10 credits per wound, and i know thatsa lot, but if you're going to take my time for me to stop whatever i'm doing, get out the droid, and heal, thats what its gonna cost... unless ur rebel then its free

times like that when i would give him like 50k and tell him to never charge again, but thats what he wants, so i /addignore him

I suppose this is as good a place as any to post a rant. So please bear with me.

A few weeks ago, I was in cnet buffing a couple friends, and a few people who'd asked (politely, even) for my services. A complete stranger comes up to me and said, "I need a factory". I asked him if we knew each other. 'Nope.' And while I had recently purchased some factories as I'd just recently started producing (but not selling, at that point) my own meds I was confused about why he just expected me to have factories. 'You're a Doc' (actually, a lot of typos on his part were involved for the entire conversation, but I got the idea). I was still confused about that but I wasn't using mine at the moment so I offered to go back to Naboo with him and I'd set him as an administrator on one of mine. 'I need my own factory'. Wasn't sure how to respond to that. Maybe he was just lamenting about the pain of having to go get a factory. Certainly he didn't expect me to just give him one of mine. 'Give me a factory.' Guess I was wrong. As I was getting ready to log out for the night (it was around 2:30am my time) I didn't want a big argument. So I offered to send him waypoint to the nearest mall that I knew would have in stock. I was pretty sure they were about 30k a piece, so I also offered to tip him 35k to cover his expenses. He then explained that he'd already been there but they didn't have any (The vendor with the factories always has several pages of items, but has ALWAYS had plenty of factories on them, so I was pretty sure that if he had been there he hadn't looked at anything other than the first page). I explained that he should go back and this time click on the (more/next/whatever) button towards the bottom right part of the vendor windows until he got to the factories. His solution was much more elegant, however. 'Will you go buy me a factory?' Well, I explained that I didn't want to spent the next 15 minutes running an errand for a complete stranger but that I was still willing to pay for the factory. 'Why won't you get me a factory?' Why indeed? I further explained that I had to work in the morning and that I was very tired and needed some sleep. He spent the next 2minutes (or more) pestering me about the factory that I was supposed to be getting him while I was saying goodnight to my friends before I finally snapped, told him that he was being exceedingly rude and did an /addignore and had done with it. His character stood next to me until I logged off, presumably still trying to get me to go get him a factory.

Maybe it was just because I was tired, but that annoyed me even more than people expecting me to stop whatever I'm doing to buff them and then complaining when I ask for 12k instead of my normal 10k (Since I give them the benefit of the doubt about not understanding how the cost of Bivoli effects my costs). Which bring me to another point....what does Bivoli cost on other servers? I used to get +25 Bivoli for 2-3k per use. But lately (the last couple months) the few vendors that seem to have some are charging 200k for a crate...and only 50 total uses (fortunately, I found a vendor selling a crate of 75 total uses for 150k or so). Just wondering if my server had bargain priced Bivoli before and we're now catching up or if we're higher than average.

Anyway, the rant is over. Have a nice day.
