I love docs, I really do and have seen some shining examples of the profession running around our galaxy, but last night just made me ask WTH?

Up until now the only complaints I've ever had was when I'd go to the medceneter and find a couple docs or medics who would rather treat their tumbler buddies than my blacklines. I tip really well to all proffessions who help me out so it's a stale interaction when this happens. It's not too often, but it does happen.

Well, last night I was standing outside the Coronet starport talking with a group of buddies when a novice Doc walks up to the group, stands there for a few seconds and then heals my action for about 15 to 20 points.

I thanks him very much and continue talking to my friends. Didn't really need it as my guild's Doc was standing right next to me but like I said, I was polite and thanked him anyways.

"That'll be 50 credits," he says.

WTH?

"50 credits for the heal."

Are some people just on crack when they play this game or is this the SWG version of the inner city window washer? This isn't something too many Docs are actively going out and doing is it? If it is, I've got novice medic and am a Ranger that will be more than content to sitt in my own field base in the middle of Dath and heal myself.

I like good player interaction, but this really taints it.

The actions of some players will never cease to amaze me.

Last night I was leaving Bestine when i got a tell

"can u come to sp and buff me for free"

No "please"

No"hi"

No "are you buffing?"

/pause 15

"u there?"

This is just a typical example of stuff that happens quite a lot.

If the guy that healed you didn't ask for 50 credits you prolly would have tipped him a couple of thousand, he'll learn I hope

I don't agree with a heal first and then ask for payment method, but I can almost understand it. There is no way in this game to make a decent living as a healer. I've been pushing for Medic Missions for 18 months now, and believe thatMedic Missionswould stop actions like this. While you might tip well, I can bet that there are 5 others that don't tip at all, and there is no way to tell who the good tippers are.

Well I agree with you. Assuming you didn't ask for the heal, he has no right to try and charge you. While 50c isn't a game breaker, its not his place to charge the people that don't ask.

However....Had you asked for healing, then yes 50c is a fair deal. I tend to charge 2cpp (Credits Per Point) when people ask me. However, I always /diag them first and give them my quote before I even use my wound kits.

So yeah this guy that healed you would get nothing if I was in your shoes. If he healed you without you asking....Tip what you wish. But considering he did it on his own accord....chargeing you.....is stupid.

Tell the guy to go home and cry about it. If you didn't ask, and he healed you randomly, you're not responsible for paying him. I regularly stim/heal/rez players that didn't ask me (not for XP, really, if they're sitting at half-strength and fighting Jantas, they might need it), and asking for payment is like me running up to a car at a stoplight, dumping 5 gallons of gas in without asking, then demanding payment for the gas.

Yup I agree with you,

I understand the problem with healing vs tips.....however If your not going to get the approval of the customer first. Then in my opinion you get what you get. As you said, you don't just heal someone and say give me 50c. You establish your price and then heal or move on.

All we can really do until medics get missions is try to educate people that wound kits cost money to produce....and hope that people understand the issue.

Tipping for healing 15 points of wounds is nice to see sometimes. It should never be expected unless an agreement was reached before the healing was conducted. Of course, if the patient requested healing, I might assume that there is some sort of payment coming my way and start the healing before settling on a payment (I rarely charge anything for healing wounds/poison/disease).

In the case presented by the original poster, the healer is out of line to ask for payment after-the-fact.

To be frank I was with ya till this part. Clearly if someone is asking for 50 credits for anything they are very new to the game and perhaps rather young.

I think you forget that the game has a full spectrum of players, not all of which are old time adults with a full knowledge of the game and game etiquette.

Perhaps rather than getting all pissy over the precieved insult you could have chatted with the person and found out more about what they were trying to achieve.

Sure, we old timers my know that asking for a payment for a service that was not asked for but already rendered is a bit wrong but dont jump to the conclusion that the person was trying to scam you. They may simply not know any better.

Totally unrelated, but reminds me of a funny story. Back when they made droids "healable" by making the repair droids or whatever (it was so long ago and I don't use droids) there was an AFK doc with their droid out. Looks like the droid hade been rode hard, it was half blackbared. Someone with a brand new droid with some new tricks healed that damaged droid, that I happen to be sitting next to. He then sent me a tell asking for his 6k. I was like, for what? He said for fixing your droid. I said, ah, I don't own a droid. He then said he will report me for theft if I dont pay him. I said why don't you examine that droid and see who's it really is. Well, that Doc was afk for a long time, and he was standing next to them for just as long, Im sure trying to get a response from them about his 6k.

It's one of my pet peeves in game - healing or buffing randomly.

A few nights ago, I was buffing outside the Coronet starport (as I usually do) and some wannabe doc sat down next to me with his droid and started buffing me. First of all, I'm a Master Doc with my tag out, if I wanted a buff, I'd do it myself. Secondly, when I asked the twit nicely, not to buff me, he got an attitude with me claiming he was doing me a favor by giving me a free buff. I responded and he spent the next 30 minutes dancing around the starport telling everyone how mean I was because he'd buff'd me for free.

It amazes me that someone with that low of an IQ managed to boot up his computer.

i'm a doc on valycn. no offense to the novice doc...and he or she isnt here to defend themselves, but it reminds of those folks that come up to your car in rl and wipe your windshield with newspaper... THEN expect a tip.

not to justify these actions, but being a novice doc is pretty tough. there's no missions out there to do for cash, you are pretty much relying on other people's tips.
