How do I play the test center?

After you enter your password, on the screen where you would push Play, look for a link at the bottom that says Test Center. If you've never played Test
Center before you will have to go through a lengthy download first, but that's how you get into Test Center. After download, create a character in TC-5,
that's the CFU Test Center.

It has nothing to do with liking the CU or not, it was just a joke. I knew, eventually, someone such as yourself would come in and give the information.

I believe he did. He was conveying (in a somewhat round-about manner) that he finds the whole CU somewhat laughable. That is a sentiment shared by many in this forum (MyT excluded, of course).

I rather enjoyed the comments. It has been a while since I found anything funny in this forum and I welcomed it...

In the current game Docs make cash in three ways.

1. Crafting and selling items.

2. Selling our services (buffing, healing, etc)

3. Using our skills to support running missions/looting

I expect that after the CU

1. Crafting and selling items. (will go to BE's)

2. Selling our services (buffing, healing, etc) (will be reduced due to the need for such services going down and in general people feeling that since it costs us nothing to perform the service the tip/payment should be lower than if it did)

3. Using our skills to support running missions/looting. (I feel that this will be going up since groups will now be needed and our participation in those groups will be needed more)

Frankly I forsee that a Doc who uses his full 250 skill points will be just as well off money wise as they are today. It will be a matter of choice as to weather you pick up some BE to make extra coin or pick up more fight class to make (3) more a part of your game.

Remember that money is all realitive. For example, if you were a pure fight toon how would you make cash? Only in option (3) above. So by adding Doc you open yourself up for option (2) but since doc is a fight class you do not lower your ability to do option (3), infact, you may make it better. On the other hand, if you were a fight class who wanted to pick up some crafting to make more coin then you ability to do option (3) would be hindered.

In the current game, however, having a toon that is 1/2 fighter and 1/2 crafter is not a large impact since buffs/armor make anyone a good killing machine able to do any mission with ease.

So to answer you question you really have to think of your toon as a full 250 skill points can then compair the status today relative to others and the status post CU relative to others.

Well MyT generally if a thread has that many jokes posted, it means people thought the person could easily find out by putting forth a little effort (which they could) so if they "believed" the jokes to be true (i.e. we sweep streets clip jabba's toenails) then it would really be their fault for lack of effort

No I agree with that...but come on...Like the CU or not...sometimes its just to much. Your right he could have just looked around and figured it out. But some of use could have also point him in the right direction that is all I'm saying.

My response had nothing to do with the CU. It was a simple Joke, man. That's all it was.

If the original poster had just checked a few threads, they'd have had the answers they sought. It's not like I was hiding the answers or anything.

Did she notice?

Anyway..........first point......if you're in Doc just to get rich, ya might as well forget it. It's not going to be as easy as it was, nor should it really ever have been. I mean, I'm stocking up on credits before the CU, buffing my packs out, except for a few sets that hopefully will transfer over. This isn't to make money, though, it's to replace the armor that I won't be able to wear anymore, and weapons that I won't be able to use anymore. As far as I'm concerned......I enjoy buff lines, for the info I get, the friends I make, etc.....the cash has always been secondary. I mean, I met a master Artisan through my lines, who makes me whatever I want at no charge, I met my current guild through my first buff line, and the two of those together are helping me get an AV-21......no charge. That's worth 5 mil right there.....and I owe them huge.

After playing TC for awhile, more looking at the new meds, schems, and so on, here's how I see it:

*note-----------this all might change next week, it's only what I've seen from a week of TC so far, and no Elite skills yet, so I'm not a Doc there*

Buffs will still play a pivotal role, on two fronts. Newbies or new skill grinders, who are tired of getting incapped by kreetles, and higher level PvP and PvE players who need the extra boost to get them over the edge. I've noticed that the damage level taken remains constant with your skill level, unlike current live conditions. For me, I've just about finished Master Brawler, and as I've increased in skill, the higher level spawns cause an equal amount of damage to what the lower level did when I was just starting. This is without armor, of course. It's also static spawns outside Cnet and Eisley, I'll be testing missions tomorrow (when I can get weapons again), but I think it'll be close to the same. Without armor, any character will take approximately the same amount of damage from an NPC, given their skill level.

Based on that, a master Elite will probably want, along with armor, a 300 point buff to get them through a particularly tough quest, say, the Warren. From what I've seen so far, that 300 point buff is what will pull you through it.....not God-like, for sure, but alive. So, I think buffs will still be important, of course.........but as far as value goes, I don't know yet.

It'll all depend on how they finally end up working (and the only way I'll be able to test is if the devs open up skill building on the frogs), as to whether they'll be a money-making option. My guess is they probably will be, but not on the scale we've gotten used to in the last 9 months or so. I mean, really.......I can buff out 700k in profits in a night, if I want to, that's silly.

The whole economy is going to change, and probably for the better. From what I can see, you can't wear armor, or use higher-level (read: expensive) weaponry until you hit Elite skills, so artisan skills aren't going to be quite as lucrative. Newbies can now fight mobs without any armor, and not take major wound hits, but that remains to be seen if it stays that way........in which case, wound healing could be just as lucrative as buffs used to be. Not as easy, mind you........but just as lucrative.

You could also look at it this way: You get into a group, with lottery rights, and go out with them. You have no fighting skills, but you can set up a camp, where you can heal and buff, and let the "boys go play", and wait for them to come back. In this scenario, you get your share of the loot, and other members can agree to pass on an equal share of good stuff to you. You make credits, get loot you can sell, and aren't doing any more work than you were in a buff line. Not as much cash, of course, but like I said........if it's "All About The Credit-jamens", then you'll be disappointed.

One other thing to keep in mind........your cost of crafting is now gone. The main reason I bought buffs was because of the sheer cost of resources, and the fact that you can't (at least on Eclipse) buy them in quantities that don't break the bank. I mean, one set of 947 buffs costs me 150k or so to buy, and I can do that at my leisure......if I were a crafter, 150k would be what I'd be spending on just one resource out of a half dozen, to make a factory run, only to try to sell most of them to recoup my cash. You won't have to do that anymore. So your expenses are down. If you're MD, and no other Elite, you're not going to be wearing Elite armor, so your defense costs will also be down.......again, for example, in Live, Kashyyykian Hunting Armor runs about 30% more than Black Mountain, which is what a Wookiee doc will be able to wear. Same with weaponry........you won't be able to use the high-powered stuff, so your cost of offense is down.

Long winded, I know.......but it's what I've figured out from playing TC. No, we won't be uber-rich anymore, but who really needs to be? You can make just as much from running a few good loot missions as you can running a buff line, on a good day...........we'll just have to go about getting cash the old fashioned way.
