Thread: The most useless class in the game

I have to agree with most of the posters so far. Doctors are the only class that can cure poison/disease DoTs, buff the hell out of your stats, revive the dead and turn around black HAMs in no time. The insane wound healing part of doctors is often overshadowed by their other skills, but the next time some BH torches you or a CM diseases you, I imagine you'll be thankful there was a doctor in the house.

I know I've heard that many times...

Useless eh? I wish my friends all thought that, then they wouldn't bug me to come hunting with them all the time. I've never played a pure healer class in any other MMORPG, but I now know how Bards, Druids, etc in DAOC feel like, and Clerics, Enchanters, etc in EQ feel like.

You know...I am siding with everyone else on this one. Because I'm within grasp of master doc:


- I can take on much stronger creatures (mainly, a lot of red cons) because of my ability to heal my entire HAM in a single shot from a experimented Stim-D.


- I get non-stop tells (as I'm sure a lot of you other Master Surgeons and Master Doc's do) from hunting parties begging for someone with the ability to use rez packs


- I've met quite a few nice people (and managed to get into a very friendly PA) because of all my time spent hanging out in the medcenter patching the poor masses' pieces back together (Hello out there to all the other Theed Medical Staff).


-Buffs...'nuff said


- "Duraeli...are you in Theed?" "Yup" "Good, I'm coming from Keren for a patch up."


I'm having a **edit** blast with it. Don't ask me why (I've never enjoyed playing a healer's class before in any other game I've played) but I'm really enjoying every aspect of the field and every aspect of our ability to help our fellow players.


Hell, I enjoy it so much I think CM is next on the list. Duraeli Ati, yet another Master Medic, Doc, and CM.

First, get a droid with a level 6 med module. These have a 110 medical rating, which effectively adds 10% to your buffing, and yes I've actually confirmed that it works (hit a buff for over 3x the listed value with the droid out).

Second, check the effectiveness rating on the crafting station you use. Since they didn't use to have ratings, architects made them with junk metal and didn't experiment, which has led to virtually everyone's stations having huge negative ratings. A bad station is probably why you think med crafting has been nerfed.

I use the scout/artisan surrendering trick as well. I've never heard anyone else doing it, but it'll probably become pretty standard practice once everyone begins to run out of skill points.

Traigus-I agree with you that the doctor buffs could be too powerful. However, currently thats kept in check by the fact that we cant touch the mind pool. Buffed or not, i can keep someone standing until their mind pool gives out(unless one hit does more damage than the target has, of course).Hell, im only using D stimpacks, so a master medic could do EXACTLY the same thing. Also, buffs dont do anything to help my damage output. I may be able to take on a red con for much longer than is intended, but in the time it takes me to kill iti could have gained more experience killing stuff my level.


Buffs are the reason i eventually decided to become a doctor instead of a combat medic, since without them the only unique abilities doctors have is to resurrect and to cure status changes. Curing things other than disease and poision is a waste of time, and curing poisions and diseases often take too long given the current power of the diseases and poisionsto really make it worth while trying. This leaves resurrection as the classes only unquestionably useful ability, which, since this game does not give the player huge penalties for dying, isnt nearly as necessary as it is in other mmogs.

Wrong on both accounts. I use large harvesters (except the floral cause they dont exist yet)

That is a very naive statement. Apparently you've never heard of mind damage. Deaths happen, and when they do, rezzing is invaluable.

Im fully aware of that, but that isnt the point. Your claim is that the class is useless, not that going fully to master is useless.

when you are 8 kliks fromtown and you die and you have a doc present tell me we useless.


my buffs i can hit 2k plus in all stats,,, now tel me that is useles.. and no one heals beter then a doc true we limited to 6m but no CM can beat a doc in healing power....
