Thread: CU Focus Thread: Med Exp

How do you like the new system that gives out xp much like combat xp is given out?Good idea, in concept.B. ProsEncourages medics to get out and be a part of a group.C. Cons.XP in groups is currently bugged (you get XP based on your solo combat level, not your group combat level which was intended), so it's very difficult to tell how much XP you will get at this time. Also, healing someone directly after combat (i.e. right after a mob is dead) will yield no XP, which is a problem.D. What was your most effective method?Stay as close to the tank as possible, and heal rapidly. White or yellow cons are best, but in big groups things get messy with xp.2. Time: A. How long did it take you to get your first line of medic finished?Took a few hoursB. Longer/Shorter than you expected?LongerC. How did it compair to the time spent getting a combat line?Well, this is what happens - killing a white con mob with one other person, and healing that other person while attacking the target at the same time, you will get 1/2 the xp as your specific combat type, 1/2 as medical xp, and then the combat xp. This will slow both down to 1/2 the speed of leveling, and I'm not sure if that's how this is supposed to work or if that is bugged. As I see peoples replies I may add more focus questions on this topic. I will be adding other topics.
This gives way to bots standing and healing. I hope they dont do this.

An alternative to the new XP method, allow the granting of XP while in a hospital, add an option to the hospital terminal to allow medics to register there, not like the register for Doc's just a way of telling the system that you are on duty in the hospital to heal people.
A registered medic will get med XP while healing people in the hospital, maybe kind of keep it the way it is and gain XP in combat but provide an alternative method of gaining XP.
One of our top issues has been to give a bonus to healing in hospitals to get more medics/doctors to use them, with the new system it will keep people out of the hospitals even more than before.

1. Method: A. How do you like the new system that gives out xp much like combat xp is given out?
I'm not a fan of it but I understand the reasoning behind it.
B. Pros
Plays right into the desire to force medics into being combat only...
C. Cons.
Doesn't allow players with a "heal in the rear," (i.e. city, med center), playstyle to enjoy the game. Is healing allowed in camp? I hadn't tried that yet, but if not, that's also an issue. I can see how tumblers are a concern, however I suspect this could be eliminated via removing the recursive macros, (or somehow making tumbling not healable?). It really doesn't make sense to me to not allow healing except in combat, regardless of whether or not it's a combat class.
D. What was your most effective method?
Allow healing outside of combat but prevent the "cheats" like tumbling and such. Fighters are required to fight at their keyboard, (for the most part), healers should be attheir keyboard too, but the "fix" for that shouldn't be combat only XP.

Well they need to do something to get rid of bots but they need to give people an option to geting XP other than grouping in combat.
Ya, I'm not really all for forcing someone into a certain type of gameplay. I really don't like that they are forcing people to group. I'm a casual player who may get an hour at a time to play. It takes that long just to get a group going sometimes. Where will I stand in the CU? Do I just have to fight low level mobs from now on, even as master of 2 elite professions?
It's the new role for the Doc, we have combat mods it's what the Doc is intended for. Your'e suggesting basically for them to make a way for people to get Pistol Exp without having to get into combat. It's our role now.

No, I suggesting they find a way for Docs that don't want to do combat to get xp in a med center. I'm also saying I wish there was away to solo in the future.... I'm going to miss the quiet of a hunt and not having some jackass noob agro an entire nest of something that kills everyone. The one thing I don't miss for the old days....

This may be ok for Doctors but not novice Medics, and I cant remember anyone asking for medics/doctors to be made a combat profession, can you. Im not saying a pistoleer should be able to get XP outside of combat after all pistoleer is a (combat) profession, medic/doctor is not supposed to be.
I also see a problem with a novice medic trying to get in a group to advance, it is going to be hard, not many groups are going to want a novice medic if there is a doctor around, I can see that one coming.
I am having a serious case of deja vu here. I swear we had this conversation on these forums over a year ago..... we found ways to group then, we can prob do it again.

1. Method: A. How do you like the new system that gives out xp much like combat xp is given out? I currently like the general idea of how to get XP now. I wish we could still get XP from healing out side of combat.
B. Pros It bring Medics on a level playing fields as that of combat professions. Before this change I was out leveling people that actually had more combat skills then myself.
C. Cons. We get no XP while outside of combat. Being grouped isn't a huge issue, but we should get XP from healing outside of combat.
D. What was your most effective method? Heal, attack 4-5 times, Heal. Currently Bacta Toss and Throw do not work making healing very difficult and slow
2. Time: A. How long did it take you to get your first line of medic finished? It toolroughly 15 creatures of level 15-17 (group level)
B. Longer/Shorter than you expected? It felt right to me, because I was gaining XP at roughtly the same level as a combat person
C. How did it compair to the time spent getting a combat line? It still takes longer to get Combat XP. But Medics are not on the same leveling page as Combat Professions, so it makes up for it.
As I see peoples replies I may add more focus questions on this topic. I will be adding other topics.
Overall I like the XP changes. I don't like the fact that I have to heal in combat to get XP. We should get XP for healing at anytime while in a group. One thing that I found was that killing a level 17 (Group level 16) resulted in 1.3k Medical XP. However I only needed to heal a person one time to get max XP.
Also if I attacked the creature my Medical XP and Combat XP was split depending on how much damage I did rather then how much healing I did. Often times this would result is getting more combat XP then Medical XP even though I healed more often then I attacks.
1. Method: A. How do you like the new system that gives out xp much like combat xp is given out?
B. Pros Almost completely removes afk leveling.
C. Cons. Forced to group to advance. Every other combat profession canlevel solo (except maybe squad leader if they get their squad leader experience put back into the game)
D. What was your most effective method? Group with one other combatant of similar or lower level, take missions, have the other person kill while I heal. Even at CL 8, killing CL 8 through 11 critters yielding around 1500 medical experience a shot.
2. Time: A. How long did it take you to get your first line of medic finished?N/A. 80% of my medical experience was gained before the 4/2 patch.
B. Longer/Shorter than you expected? Experience gain seems fine, if you are in a group and if you are fighting things of similar level to you. Random hunting isn't so great and solo isn't a real option.
C. How did it compair to the time spent getting a combat line? Longer by default, since I can gain combat while soloing.
