I hate wasting Avian meat, so I'm always looking for ways to make Action buff packs without using Avian meat but still keep the stats matched for the set. I've got some nice 999OQ 895DR lube oil that I use to match my Action buffs to the other other packs. By varying the organic I combine with the lube Oil, I can match the duration of the Action pack to within 15 seconds of the rest and save myself 7,300 units of Avian meat. After 6 buff pack runs I've saved myself enough Avian meat to make another full run of buff sets.
I posted a write-up of my feelings on action packs not long ago. Here it is.

Duration on all packs must be within 1.5 minutes of each other
Charges must be identical for all packs in the sets
The power of the Action pack must be equal to or greater then the power of the other five stats.
I do so much production work that I don't mess with the ABECs as you do, although that is an excellent method to reduce costs I had not thought of.
Nice write-up on the action packs, by the way. Unlike the...ah....lost person on that thread, you and I are on the same page in the same book.....but thengiven our conversations, I'd expect that.
Haha, yup. Even our rules are quite similar. Of course, my organizational skills still can't hold a candle to yours... /sigh. Doesgive me something to aspire to though.
(I totally want to see your detailed sales stats and analysis btw, that would be quite an interesting little study...)
I love messing with the BECs, actually... They really provide an opportunity for the savvy crafters to differentiate themselves -- much more than anything else in the world of Docs I think.
I track not only power and charges on them, but also % experimentation on charges and resources used -- I've found instances where two BECs with identical charge percentages (though made with different resources) will have different results in the final product (b/c one gets just over the rollover point for the next charge in the final pack, and the other gets just under it), and I of course keep track of the difference between (for instance) a 24 charge 95% BEC and a 24 charge 98% BEC.
Since a difference of 2 charges in the BEC might be reflective of a 200 point difference in the OQ of the wheat used, it also might be a 10 cpu savings on that resource...
Also, there are a couple of instances where a full charge difference in BECs is not reflected at all in the final pack -- finding those places can not only result in a cost savings, but in an extra point or two of power without any sacrifice in charges...
Of course, this is all moot if you can only make a couple of different types of BECs... I can hit 24 charges with any of 3 fiberplasts and 4 wheats, for instance, so these slight variances are more important to me than most.

OK...I'm going to do two things...first I'll download the last four months sales data from my largest med sales location into an Excel spreadsheet from Merchant's Friend and send it to you.
....then I'll start working on producing the sales analysis to share with everyone. Ah....the things I do for community. ![]()

Hehe, yeah... I don't (and haven't ever) used avian in action packs. But, just as with Stims, Lube Oil isn't as good as anything with UT...
I have a collection of inorganics with UT values and OQs over 980 that I use with my 2 best organics to match durations. I think I've been within 30 seconds on my last half-dozen different types of avian meat (and, of course, the extra charges from the UT allow me to use cheaper BECs, and there can be a significant savings there in some cases).
The other factor is that Lube Oil with stats like that is worth big bucks to a chef trying to make 50-filling Vercupti, whereas something like a 990oq Gemstone might only be useful to docs.

Can I see that too ? I can send you mine too...
