If it's just the sub-components, I can't see any downside to this at all.

YES! I have noticed this happening to me. It's the reason I stopped selling 2-crates of my stims on the bazaar and now sell only singles.
On the subject of subcomponent crates, I'm in favor of raising the size if the original reason they currently max at 50 was due to not being able to split them. If it's some sort of balance issue, then I'd have to learn the reason they're where they are right now before judging.

This is a great idea.
How many doctors/cm's or even other crafters HAVE to have a minimum of 2 houses, with some having as many as 4 or 5 JUST to hold resources and crates of their crafts.
There really doesn't seem to be anything that can be done about the 100's of different resources we need, but allowing crates to be made with 500 or 1000 components would at least eliminate the need for one house probably for most people.
And lord knows, anything to reduce the ridiculous need for multiple houses used JUST for storage and nothing else, would be a good thing for both the aesthetic aspect as well as database and lag issues.
The cons as i see it are non existant game wise, and the benefits to both players and the developers (lag/database issues) are huge.
