Thread: Doctors Bill
Honestly, as a master doc/aspiring fencer, I don't have a problem charging at all. I hunt quite a bit for fencer and I have a couple of policies i go by.
1) Only heal/rez people in group or guild that I'm hunting with unless I know someone else or they're helping us out quite a bit
2) No buffs are free except for IRL friends and myself
3) I don't need the xp, I have to store the resources for meds, if you want healed you will pay what i ask, if you don't that's fine, it takes my mind and time from my actual hunting to heal you.
* Basically the only reason I heal everyone while I'm fighting is that so I don't die, if you aren't contributing to my not dying, you don't need to be healed. I have a Master CM friend who only heals my mind since I'm the doc and can rez if anyone dies to keep everyone alive and keep that decay away!
Yeah, I mean do people go around demanding that BH's go and hunt for them for free?

Some folks in this game seem to think that just because you play a profession you're obligated to perform services for them at no charge.
"/say I'm a master doctor, if your medical insurance is paid %TT we'll take a look at you now, otherwise you'll need to wait for one of the junior staff members to be free. "
Good RP too
From now on in Med Centers at least I think I'll start charging a minimum of 100 credits, and ask they tip on top of that if they can.
Like you say, if someone comes in with hundreds in wounds and all they have is a Novice Medic slowly chipping away at that, they will eventually decide to cough up for the good stuff.
I also don't want to come off as some kind of greedy bad guy. However, if we were vendors and they clicked on us, got a list of healing options with a price, they'd pay it without batting an eyelid.
It all just needs good spin. I'll come up with some positive/amusing ways of demanding money for heals over the weekend, and share them here
I really like this post. I am a n00b round here really. I have owned swg for about 3weeks and have been playing about with differing basic profs. Unfortunately my sis deleted my first char as a 'joke' so I had to make a new one. I became a zabrak medic and have been grinding away at it for about 3days. 6hours or so in total. Mostly I have been hanging around in the cantina's at theed and coronet healing the entertainers with my stim A's.
Whenever I have spent any of my time in the med ceter's people have always been apriciative, except for one guy. He had wounds almost ALL of his action and health pools and big wounds to his other stats. Me and another fairly new medic were there for AGES healing him and he didnt even give one word of thanks, just got up and left! That really anoyed me.
Other than that everybody apriciated what I did alot. I was healing one guy who was even newer than me, it was his first time on the game i believe, I sat there healing him and gave him what advice I could. Gave him about 300 units of aluminium to kick start his crafting and told him that it was considered polite to tip medics/entertainers but told him i didnt want any tip. After telling him that he tipped me 100 credits. Given its not very much but to somebody who had only just begun playing that is a fair amount of cash.
When I finally make master doc and/or CM I think I will tell any regulars who genuinely apriciate my time and effort that I use my better packs on people like themselves and anybody who doesnt apriciate me and comes back I will just use lesser packs or be less willing to go out of my way to help them.
Simply Fact: Imps tip better than Rebels. Tell Rebels this...it may shame them into tipping better.

charge up front. problem solved.
Sounds simple, but it's not. You end up opening a whole other can of flames with that, even though it's what I personally used to do.
Yeah. Like the fact that everyone in the place will look at you like you are crazy, and you'll get hate tells for the next hour. I tried this for a week or so, and then stopped visiting med centers completely. I chuckle sometimes now when I hear cries for help from the med center. It's sad that SOE's tip system has forced all the doctors out of the med centers. It's really the new players that suffer because of it.
The second guy had heavy wounds, and I said I'll do it for 500. He was rather confused. After explaining further that I'm trying to promote tipping to all medics, he revealed he only had 21 credits. This was probably true given his tag and he had no Master badges, so I healed him for free (Got great XP, I used some of the new Woundpacks I made and they were great!)
If we all start doing it, it'll soon be the norm
The problem with this is people that are not master Dr.
Someone who is not master Dr wants to heal, and badly. They fight over who gets to heal a really hurt player. Which is why as a master Dr I have stopped healing at all except when it suits me to do so.
I dont want to take away from the novice that needs to heal those people for XP.

Same here. Just had a guy lastnight ask me to heal his wounds... I told him to tip me for 1k . Anyway he gawks and goes what?? for wounds ( he had 800 health wounds, number of others across all 6 stats).
Yup, I told him you did ask a Master Doctor, it's not like I need the xp. ![]()
Anyway I told him I usually wound heal if I"m buffing someone, and buffs were 6k ![]()
Had a good days healing today, tons of XP and even got tipped pretty good in Anchorhead. There was a big Imperial Raid (Including 2 AT-ST's) on Farstar so plenty of wounds to heal. Imperials lost
I've found if I use a good wound pack on one of their stats, then spurt out a general "Please tip the hard working Medics and Entertainers" we usually got a tip.
I haven't been in a med center pretty much since I hit Master Doc, and the only way I would do so would be if i decided to go CM. I only get asked for heals when i'm sitting in front of the starport buffing people, as a master doc people must understand that the profit we make on our buffs can be upwards of 300%, yes but for wounds? -100%? people ask why our buffs are expensive, that's why .... to pay for the money we spent grinding, or playing to get to master doc ... as a novice medic i just accepted the fact that i wasn't gonna get paid because i was so anxious to heal people and have made it back 10 fold as a MD. Sucks that you have to suffer through that though .... And even if i'm buffing, unless i'm not doing anything at all, i won't heal wounds ... usually backed up 3 people who are paying customers ... unless people want to pay for wound heals, i don't see this changing ...
I think I went off on a rant here but you getthe point ![]()
