Thread: How much to sell Stim B's?

haven't decided what to charge for the 458s I just made, but don't wanna get too outa control
458's on any server should command decent $$$
I TOTALLY agree with Davy's formula, and with Voortex's comments. The average person who has some med xp, or even at master Medic level that trys to compete with pricesor drives down the costs below prodution should be crucified and burnt in effigy!
There seems to be an ever growing number of players out there with either too much resources on their hands, or sheer stupidity. It is like healing an near dead person in a med center and getting no tip. These medpacks, buffpacks, and stim packs take alot of effort to make quality product as we Doctors can.
When I told my guild's Master Architect about the grind I was doing to get Master Doctor he was humbled to hear that not oly artisans got through a rigorous process to make components to make... another component, and do it in duplicity with a factory.
It is not easy, and takes alot of time and resources, and I am insulted to hear anyone try to drive prices below production costs!
Kudos Davy and Voortex, I am with you on this!
I am tired of threads like this inflating costs. I just finished making a batch of advaned stim-b's and I kept track of the costs (approximately). Guess what, about 120cr per unit. I picked to sell some at 500cr each and happy about it.
I have heard the arguments that these are rare resources. Tough love folks, only the Class 4 Liquid Petro Fuel is rare, everything else is easy to get (might not be good quality but easy). As long as you find a reasonable source (say around 60% or 70% concentration) and run for three or four days on the harvester, it is easy to get down to 0.6 to 0.7 credits per unit of resource.
As far as travel time, and factory time, I consider that a wash. Usually I can put down a couple extra harvesters at the same location and hit something with a 75%+ concentration and sell that on the bazaar for one credit per unit and make up the diffrence. Even without the extra harvesters, the cost of running a factory for a couple of days is not that much per unit (around 2.5 cr/unit depending on many factors).
That leaves skill level. Some combat engine with only Org Chem IV can get advanced stim-b's into the 250 to 300 rating with average resources. A doctor can kick it into the 300 to 400 range depending on resource quality.
That leave greed and the market. They guys that are buying at 5k each can probably afford 25k each. These are high level combat engines of pure destruction. Small population, high demand, and lots of extra cash. On the other hand, you have the low and mid-level characters or just plan non-combat types who can not afford them even at 1k each. Large population, high demand, and very little cash.
Don't believe me, I have done it. I have a mid-level doctor/artisan on one server and a combat engine (two pure combat classes) with Org Chem IV on another server. Both make advanced Stim-B's. The doctor is just more efficient (but very cash strapped) when making them.
Go ahead, charge 10 times the resource used. It makes me feel good to help out the little guy, so if anything, my prices is going to drop.

Icetigger what server are you on ? and are you even a doctor ? If so Ill start a character on your server just for the purpose of buying you out and reselling them the next second - Ill let you struggle to get resources and endlessly chase shifting resources and the like and make all the money for it - YOU GET ON WITH YOUR BAD SELF and ill get on making money hand over fist off you - the server again and character name ?

I see Docs selling their 35/360 stim Bs for 1300 on the Bazaar, and I shake my head every time.
I sell my 35/354, 35/359 at 1800-1875 each on the Bazaar - on safe planets like Corellia, Naboo, and Tatooine. Each batch of 10-25 stims sells out within 24 hours. On Dathomir and Dantooine, I sell them for 2000-2150. They sell out within the same period of time.
The way I price my stims is simple: (charges x power) / (6 to 7). The divisor I come up with depends on the combined labor-time-credit investment I put into crafting the batch. When I use all Advanced subcomponents, and Herbivore meat is involved (I get around 35/410 then), and I harvested all the resources myself, the price of the final product goes up. I just finished a run of 300 35/409 stim Bs, and they've been easily selling at 2200 on the Bazaar in Corellia, Naboo, Talus, and Tatooine. I'll probably put them up on Dantooine and Dath for 2400.
Think about what you need to do to get a good batch of meds:
(1) Survey for rare resources - on multiple planets.
(2) Place harvesters - pay maintenance and provide power.
(3) Check harvesters - keep track of the resource shifts on each planet.
(4) Upgrade harvesters - upped my personals to BER 4 and mediums to BER 10.
(5) For meats, spend time hunting, until you have enough for a batch.
(6) Pay for all travel expenses.
(7) Plant Factories - I need 3 Food/Chem factories to give me any decent turn-around time - pay maintenance and power.
(8) Do your experiments, make your schematics.
(9) Run the factory batches - do it again for the final product.
(10) Take complete crates, split them, and deliver to Bazaar (25 limit) or Vendor (maybe multiple locations).
(11) Start working on next resource/shift/product batch.
So - for those Docs who don't mind charging rock bottom prices, have fun gents and ladies. Me, I still want to *play* the game, explore, and do things that don't feel so much like *work*. Therefore I will charge higher prices - I'm not going after volume, but somehow I constantly sell out of what I make without much trouble.
Hehe, just my own humble opinion, make of it what you will. Good luck and above all, have fun.
IMO, this is HIGHLY server dependent. If I tried to sell 35 use, 395 heal stim b's at 60k a crate on Bria, I don't think I'd ever sell any. Prices have been slipping down due to the abundance of MD's and the prominence of a few that sell really low.
I've been selling singles of 400/30s for 1400 and around 50k per 50 (cheaper by the crate). Everyone has a different number, depends on the location of your shop really.

Glad I'm not on any of your servers...
At any rate, I think you guys selling stims for 1k a pop should consider selling resources directly -- your margins might be better!
If I were to sell the resources I use for an advanced stim B on my server, here's how it would break down:
18 units of lokian wheat @ 6 cpu (could get 8 on the bazaar, easy) - 108
18 units of fiberplast @6 cpu - 108
16 units of herbivore meat @ 15 cpu (that's a rough average, good stuff is up into the 30s) -- 240
16 units of class 4 liquid petro @ 6 cpu -- 96
6 units of dant berries, 6 units of talus water each @ 6 cpu -- 72
12 units of misc. organic, 12 units of misc. inorganic @4 cpu (low end) -- 96
Total: 720 credits.
These number assume I'm using middle of the road materials -- on my server at least, nice stuff fetches a *much* higher price.
But don't mind me, I don't sell stims anyway. Except as favors to friends.
Ledao, Valcyn
I use a stat-based formula for selling stims: Charges x Heal Rating x 10%.
Using that, here's a few sample figures for stims & crates:
- 25/250: 625cr/single, 31250cr/crate of 50.
- 30/300: 900cr/single, 45000cr/crate of 50.
- 35/350: 1225cr/single, 61250cr/crate of 50.
- 40/400: 1600cr/single, 80000cr/crate of 50.
Statsare made up and do not necessarily reflect what I produce, just tossing out some numbers. If you find it helpful, feel free to use it or adjust the arbitrary 10% number until you find a comfortable price.
