Thread: charging for buffs

I am a doctor. Last night a friend of mine got buffed for free in the cantina, and I was really disappointed for the dancer or musician that did it. YOU GUYS NEED TO CHARGE. As a master doc, I charge 5K for buffing all 6 stats, 1K for just health or action. Yes, it takes resources, however it takes less than 100 resources to completely buff someone, so it probably costs me 500 credits or so. And it only takes a couple of minutes to do a full buff.

I think you are completely justified for charging 2 to 3K for a mind or focus/willpower buff. Why? Because your buffs are even more necessary than health/action buffs due to the fact that there are NO STIMS FOR THE MIND. Mind is what gets a lot of the combat types I play with...their tiny little minds get all used up and they drop like flies.

PLEASE CHARGE, and not cheaply, for your buffs. This will be an awesome reward for all the work you've done, and it takes the focus off of needing tips. Giving buffs will completely set you apart from AFKers and may start to make the combat types realize how important you are. But, that respect will not come (IMHO) if you do this for free or don't charge enough for it.

you guys should charge for buffs, as a bounty hunter i am doctored buff pretty much the entire time i'm on, and the usual cause of death is mind incap, cut down on deaths cause by mind incaps cuts down on the cost of getting more doctor buffs, imo thats worth the extra credits

Hmph...I refuse to charge to buff. It requires no resources to do them outside of time and I see no real reason to charge. Doctors can charge as much as they wish cause it requires resources, but Musicians/Dancers? Nuh-uh... you can charge, I won't.

MAJOR, MAJOR, PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE AND BUFFS!!!!

People love to cheat, and any chance they getcheat (or even lie), they will!!!!!

First, Kudos to the ability to buff. A big problem is that the musician or dancer does not receive feedback as to how much buff received by thelistener (or delivered by the musician/dancer)(if any). I /setperform, I get a message that my setperform is set to the target. Then I play my arse off for 5-10 mins (having no idea as to what level the player is getting buffed). Now the player tells me that they don't see any increase in their focus or willpower. So I tell them to stop listening (which I think sucks). They then tell me, sorry, I don't see increase in my HAM (liar). If they gave me money, they ask for it back. If they don't give me money, they leave the cantina, knowing **edit** good and well they received the buff.

DEVs, take this buff thing to the next level, and give all parties involved more feedback as to what level the customer's mind, focus, or willpower has increased to. I want to know what I'm giving the listener so I can make some money doing this.

Other than that, it's great to be a MM, with this new buff toy.

You know, I disagreed with the request to give entertainers the /diagnose command, but it would completely remove the problem your scenario brings up.

What i do is start by finding one of our GREAT Doctors that help us so much in the game and ask him for a stamina buff I tip him 2+k for this because it will help you alot. Then go to the cantina an charge 2k for your buffs. I can do both Master Dance and Master Musician so I get 4k and sometimes they tip me more. For so long I have wanted some way to help in the game other than BF and a way to make some credits at it.

If you cant have fun....get out of my sight.

I tend to agree with Nostostagh though, and hadn't planned on charging for this buff. I was actually trying to buff every person in the cantina until I found that there are a few bugs with it right now...heehee.

As far as seeing a change in the HAM bar of a person you're directing your attention to, would it be possible to have that person targetted, then stop playing (or dancing) to force them to stop listening, and then notice a change in their HAM bar (since you had them targetted)?

Correction to a proir thread...

The /diagnose command won't help you with knowing whether or not Willpower/Focus is buffed because /diagnose only shows you wound they have... not how much they have been buffed.

Then comment on entire thread:

I was a Master Doc and Master Combat Medic but have recently dropped CM to puck up Master Musician. The 2 hr doubling of Will/Focus has brought me back to entertaining. I was going to be Master Dance/Doc when I first started the game but found dancing to not be benifical.

Anyway, I highly agree with the charging of mind buffs. As with other docs... I charge all 6 stats for 5k. I plan on buffing Will/Focus for 1k. Yes, there is no material involved BUT as in real life... time is money. The time I spend buffing the mind stats is time I could be out hunting in groups or buffing others to earn money.

Just a few cents. Spend as you will.

Hmmm, last night I talked about buffing with a friend of mine who happens to be a master doctor and there was another master doctor present who wanted to try his buff on me, so I let him try...

He enhanced my action with an additional 3000 points and when I asked both of them what they charged for their buffs both of them said that they usually don't charge anything for buffing.

I'll be charging nothing for buffing, if they want to tip me for it then sure, be my guest. But I won't charge, I refuse to do that, because once I start doing that I will have very little time left to do my profession in the way I enjoy doing it.

Every buff i give, people usually give me 2k

That is fine with me, and ill prolly enforce it if someone doesnt tip me, cause its a pain in the ass, well not a pain, its just annoying sometimes, and you dont know how long it takes, there is no real indicator it worked.

Give us a graphic.

I simply play at the cantina, and when someone ask for a buff, I tell them 1K; most are cheap and decline. I don't worry. I got the buff to give to those willing to pay. Its all good.. I don't lose anything.

People natually tip me anywhere from 500-6000creds. I dont asked them but they know I want a tip. Its like leaving a tip for your waiter after you finished eating. The waiter doesnt ask for the tip buy you know they want it.
