Thread: Are we making creds on our buff pricing??

The more I use it the more I like the rolling scale that I use.

1k per 1k buffed per stat rounded down.

0 - 999 = free
1k - 1999 = 1k
2k - 2999 = 2k
3k + = 3k

As resources change I can charge the same scale of prices. If resources get real good I can make 12k for buffs. If resources tank my profit goes down. Through the whole thing however my customers only pay for what they get.

I have had a few complaints. To these people I say good luck and have fun.

If you are hunting or running resources and someone sends a tell wnating buffs reply with the following.

I am currently off duty. I will come to [nearest town] and buff for 20k if you really need the buffs.

Time spent running to buff someone is time lost harvesting meat or running missions for yourself. They should pay a premium if it interrupts your "time off".

I agree with ya Sif....On Tempest it is getting insane at the prices ya have to pay. My guild does me good and gives me avain meat when they get it. Some is of good quality and some is not. For what people are trying to charge for meat and other resources it is insane. The fact that some Docs still charge 5-6k is nuts. Eithier they are part of the mega-guilds that they get great prices for resources or they a little insane themselves. I tried to do the artisan thing and hunt for my own resources but gave that up cause it just ate up to much of my free time. I still have scout skills to harvest my own meat though. It is getting to a point where some Docs will start to lose money and start to raise their prices. When that day comes people will be up in arms cause buffs will be to much for the basic casual player.

Well, i charge 10k for he Imps, and 5k for the Rebs. I feel as a Doc it is my duty to help all those in need, but the price goes up for those of the wrong ilk.

Recently I posted on my galaxy trade forum that I would be buffing for the low low price of 250 units of Popo ( Avian Meat ). Popo was a corellian Avian meat and was around 700ish OQ and 900ish PE 600ish DR.

Assuming the number of tells I get to buff every day I figured people would be willing to put a little effort into farming some meat for me in exchange for some Doctor Buffs. The problem is that I just can't gather enough meat on my own to keep up with the volume I need.

Boy was I wrong! In the 2 days I spent at the same location spamming that I was buffing for meat I had a total of 1 person pay in the form of Avian meat. He actually ended up brining me over 3k units of Popo. Needless to say this one person still has quite a few buffs coming his way, all paid for up front in avian meat.

People want the buffs for as little effort as they can get em. My offer still stands on buffing for meat, but I think I'll rarely get any meat. Its a shame, because they are really only helping themselves by supplying me with the meat.

Oh yeah, my average buff cost is 9k. This works out to about 36cpu for the aformentioned popo meat.

Sigh

I saw you r post ramew very good idea. I am a new doc on my way to masterand was thinking about doing what you did but I relized that people want something for nothing and if you want it they try and gouge you. I am lucky that i am not in that position yet but when i make master i think i will just keep it to myself and a few friends

Ra'ma, Popo was still in shift as of about 6pm central tonight. I have harvested about 25k of the stuff. Here's what I do: I set waypoints for Coronet starport, Doaba Guerfel starport, and Kor Vella starport. Then, I buff myself. I hop in my speeder out of Coronet, and head for DG. From DG I go to KV, then back to Coronet. I turn for the next city when I am about 1500m away, because I've noticed that spats don't spawn close to the cities. By the time I make it back to Coronet, the buffs are just wearing off, and I have between 1-4k of meat, depending on how lucky I was finding carrion spats, etc. While doing that, if it flies, I kill it (except vynocks, those are some other kind of meat), no matter how much meat it drops. The lairs to look for are called "A Nest" and "A Cluster of Brambles". Now, I realize that this doesn't apply to all servers and that not everyone can play for the duration of their own buffs, and I apologize in advance for that. Something that does apply to everyone was the time involved in getting so much meat. I'll estimate I spent roughly 2 1/2 hours on each trip, and assume that I did it for 10 days. That's a LOT of playing time dedicated to getting that meat. The people that I buff are going to pay for that time I spent gathering the best meat on the server, or they won't get buffed. As a side note, I would never pay more than 20 cpu for any meat, and even that limit is probably too high.

tonight on corbantis on dantooine, i was buffing at 10K. Some guy was complaining at the price, so i packed my droid, refunded this guy his money (he was half buffed) and started to leave. I had about 5 people sending tells for buff requests and replied to blame this individual. The flaming on this guy for causing the master doctor to leave was fun to hear. Do people have a demand for our service? Absolutely. More demand than i have for thier 10K.

This is a great approach that I haven't thought of. I was considering a pricing scheme based on what slicers charge butI like yours better. I hope you don't mind if I adopt it.

Ya know I just dont get it.. The Game is behind these low buffs under 1k its not your pack its not your resources (provided you are getting over 700 base) So why do you people insist on giving refunds on buffs under 1k? Heck If I were not a doc I wouldnt mind someone buffing all my stats at under 1k it would be free, and I would still be coming back to get more free ones. And you know what? the resources and time it took to create that buff pack would be gone. The doc would be out of a buff pack and I would be buffed for free. Heck these people know how this game works Not many people go up to a master smuggler and say I would like a 30% damage slice. well first of all the Smuggler will tell you Sorry I cant control if its a speed or damage slice and I can not determine the % you have to take your chances same as I do. People are trying to turn this doc profession into a stock market. Hmm I invest in this buff pack and if it doesnt all hit over 1k **edit** im out of creds. My buffs are 10k and they are all 883-11817 packs at the moment.. im in the process of making 920 base. and even these packs still hit for under 1k sometimes. I will not refund 1k if it does, because it was not my fault and the resources are still consumed and you still got a buff, just not what you would like to have had nor what I would liked to give you. Nearly all master docs want to get the best , highest buff the game will allow for their crafted pack. We did not hit a button that said "insert crappy buff"

On the few rare occasions that I buff someone not in my PA, I charge 10k flat. If one happens to be crappy, tough luck. You still get you stats raised by more than 100%. If thats not good enough, you can go find a Doc willing to to make a better deal. My time and resources are to valuable to be spent haggling with some 12 year old who wants "Uber" buffs.
