Thread: So for you many afk macroing docs what will the new non-reoccuring macro commands mean to you?
nope, they are taking this out. they are making it impossible to set never ending macros

As long as you can call macro_B from within macro_A, then nothing will change. You can write a very long macro out of game in a text editor and alias it ingame.
I imagine the macro would look something like:
/macro Go_Do_Something; /pause 60;
/macro Go_Do_Something; /pause 60;
/macro Go_Do_Something; /pause 60;
/macro Go_Do_Something; /pause 60;
/macro Go_Do_Something; /pause 60;
repeat ad nauseum
So really, unless you are prevented from calling a macro or calling a toolbar slot, then all this change will do is make it only slightly more trouble to do.

Subscription fees are calculated on average play time. Hardcore players cost more in badwith costs then casual players.. AFK 24/7 bots cost even more then hardcore players.
Nuking AFK bots on every server is a significant bandwith savings (actually is is getting back bandwith they probably never had budgeted... because they did not anticipate 24/7 players.
So yeah, buffbots do hurt the game, even if they don't bother you specifically.

I know what you meant. And it still won't work. They are removing the ability to call a macro from a macro. So making one macro that starts other macros will not work.

What I had there wasn't a recursive loop (never ending). It was Macro1 calling Macro2 every 60 seconds. You could very easily replace Macro2 with a /ui action toolbarslotXX for the same effect.
You can also have 200 different macros that all do the exact same thing and just call one of them every 60 seconds until the server resets ... then you start the macro again in the morning like the AFK folks already do.

actually the way i wrote it was they are removing the ability to call the macro from within itself. If thats what is happneing, then i'm fine with that

Ok I hate to say this but being a person who has used many looping macros in many games for many reasons all except this one, I must say that its time to quit when you rely on macroing so much that without it you dont see a need for your account to exsist. Sure its easy, and its nice for people to be able to run out of town and get buffed and its not my part to tell people how to play the game.
One thing should be for certain... that live Doctors should see an increase in profits.

When i wrote about it i was refering to my alt account, my main will be stil up and running. I admit i relied on macros for the alt, but how else was i meant to provide such a service whilst still playing to game with my primary account
At almost 4am who says I read every word? Of course you could do what was intended to be done and run one at a time.... by hand.

I run a fairly sucessfull buff bot on my server, and have done for a while.
I dont charge the earth for the buffs just enough to cover buff packs and maintainence (and a few jawa beers and tips for the scantly clad dancers in the cantinas)
I get great enjoyment watching someone use the bot for the first time, or someone bringing a friend to it and them talking abotu how cool it is. Not mentioning the praise I get from the regular users.
I have the bot setup in a little house on tatooine away from large cities, it is generally quiet, only shouts once every 5 mins and have never recieved any complaints.
I admit that i enjoyed the benifit of the profit it did generate whilst i wasnt actually playing the game, but it was more rewarding for me to feel that i was adding to the community and providing a dependable service.
Now that the macro lopping is going (i have to use two macros to complete one buff session because of the length of the commands) i will probably have to stop this service which frustrates me.
See this is what I'm talking about. There are tons of legit docs who do this service. They enjoy doing it. They don't spam messages in public cities and what-not. They've got houses setup to do this type of stuff. Are they hurting the live doctors buffing in Theed and Coronet? Not from what I've seen. Will the loss of them hurt the live doctors? No. But it will hurt the docs who have this setup, as well as the many customers they service.
The game has become more about the value of the time you spend playing. We already have to wait around 10 minutes for shuttles between planets doing nothing. So now we'll have to wait around for 30-45 minutes in lines for buffs? For a Casual Gamer, 30-45 minutes just so they can do any sort of combat to me is unacceptable. Buffbots take all of 5 minutes max to work. Waiting in line for live docs buffing takes anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes, depending on the time of day. Peak time, it's 45-60 minutes wait usually. At least on Scylla.
Tell me. If you weren't a doc, would YOU want to wait that long to get buffs just so you can do any combat-related elements? With Jedi in PVP and the added NPC's using specials and switching weapons, Buffs have now 100% become a MUST.
