Thread: Ease of mastery making doctors a dime a dozen?
Funny thing about that is that in Dearic, Talus, on the Eclipse Galaxy, there are 3 Master Docs based in the area, myself included, and a few morealmost to to that level. I still occasionally hit the med center and get those same oohs and aahs either because they aren't from around the area originally, normally paly at different times than those other Docs, or because sometimes the other Docs (if they are int eh Med Center at all) don't alkways use the upper level packs for healing wounds. I personally don't keep anything less than a fully experimented (for effectiveness) C pack for each wound type at all times. I know some of the other Docs don't always bother doing that.
It always cracks me up when a patient acts like that, though.
Besides if you think that's some reaction, I stood outside the Cantina last night and had a couple of leftover D & E buffs that I just felt like getting rid of. I asked some folks standing around if they were going on missions and if they wanted a buff. Most of them were pretty wishy-washy, not really caring too much about geting buffed until i finall hit one with one Health Enhance for 1500 points. You could hear the jaws not only hitting the floor but shattering into tiny pieces, the dropped so hard and fast as they watched their groupmates health bar flat dwarf the other two into nonexistence. ![]()
That's when I told them that when a Master Docs says he's gonna buff he MEANS it!
They were clamboring for the rest of the buffs then. ![]()
Yeah depending on where you are buffing in the city had been pointless. Although in some places with much larger server zones, like on Talus, it would work. I normally only buff in the field, though, and the bugs had been worth working around there. I found that with the stuck HAM bars thing ieven has a workaround, because there are generally two problems involved. One is just taht for the plyer themself their HAMs just want pas their screen and didn't rezixe. No big del, they only really need to worry about it when they start to see white and my groups generally rely on me to watch their HAMS anyway. The other is where they actually stick for, usually, me. THat's aproblem because I NEED to see their HAM bars to know when to heal. But I found if we disband the group, untarget the player whose HAMs were stuck, get outside of radar range of each other, meet back up and regroup, then it's fixed.
Hopefully all of that will not be a non-issue with the new publish.
Truthfully, I just wear my doctor hat when I want to get apprenticeship points. I only ever intend to get novice doctor, because I also dance and image design -- there's not a lot of room in my points budget.
I, too, find that most medical centers are devoid of patients and staff. Partly this is because of the incessant fighting that takes place near Bestine and Anchorhead on my home planet/galaxy, and partly because those patients who need the heals choose not to pay for them. But that's a different issue.
Here's hoping we get a door fee at the hospital -- or health insurance -- or secure trade for healing. Until then I'm not going to wear the doctor hat. (Besides, it's much more fun to be seen out in the desert as a Hairstylist instead of an Apprentice Gunfighter.)
Easy to master?
You must have a mouse finger of steel... Expert and Master Medicine Crafting are Easy?
You must've had a factory before they fixed them.
I don't know about other galaxies or even planets, but on Chilastra, Naboo I'd say 75% of the medics/doctors who are in a med center are in Theed. Poor Karen seldom has anyone. The patients soon realize this and don't bother with the lesser manned ones.
So in Theed it often is 5 medics/doctors to one patient. But in Moenia and Kaldaara it would be a somewhat better ratio.
However the original post has a point. I wonder how many, like me, started out to be a combat medic and changed to Doctor? I'd say I did so half because of the ranged support line and half because I saw that medics in a combat group are in much, much less demand in swg than in the other mmorpg's because everyone can self heal with a minor skill point expenditure. How many combat class characters do you think are without novice medic skill?
