Thread: Ease of mastery making doctors a dime a dozen?
As far as classes go, doctor is pretty solid. It's not buggy and broken to the extent of other classes, it's very useful at all levels, and it's easy to master so you get the feeling like you accomplished something... I dont know about other servers, but on lowca there seems to be a disgustingly high number of doctors, and it's growing every day... I'll walk into the med center to say hi, and there'll be 10 novice doctors, and 2 patients... Has anyone else noticed this?

On Valcyn, most of the time, there are more patients than medics; however, you will have those times when it is the other way around, and then most of us take off for missions or med crafting. I just hit Novice Doctor the other day, and as a casual player, it took me awhile. I took Doctor, because there seemed to be so many complaints about Combat Medic (and I am a loooong way off from reaching the Ranged Support Requirement), not that I may not change later, depending on how the next couple of weeks go while I work on my Ranged Requirement.
Last week there were only like two novice doctors around all the time. Now I hit it, and I saw someone else get it Sunday night...but that is about it. Most of us have other professions we have been working on, and then end up doing the healing thing at night.
Um Master Doctors are buffed. I worked hours and hours to get to Master Doctor, mainly with crafting...
and when I reach Master Doctor, I not only find out Reactive Gasses were moved in a resource shift, not allowing me to make 5/6 enhance packs I should be able to make. But even with the action enhance packs with more lienent resources, I make one wrong move and they wear off. Then after wearing off, I can't reapply them for 1-2 hours, making Master Pistoleer seem further and further away =o(
I don't think there are many more doctors than other elite professions. The reason you notice that many is because you look in the med center. It's a natural place for doctors to be. It's like discovering eggs in a birds nest more often than on the ground.
When you run around in the wild or in the cities in general, you'll see a lot more combat oriented titles than doctors.
Usually when I'm in the Keren Med Center, I'm the only doctor with maybe one or two novice medics or CMs. Sometimes there will be other doctors too, but it's rare to see more than one or two in the Med Center at a time. Well, yesterday I went in to the Med Center to train Tier 3 Doc Crafting via the NPC trainer, butwas pleasantly surprised to see a Master Doctor there along with another Master Surgeon. So, I was able to get my training much cheaper than I'd expected.
that's odd... on lowca I do a search in a town, and I see many many more doctors it seems than other professions... even when I go to dathomir I see almost one doctor for every two people... and I saw a combat medic once.
And doctors have some bugs like everything else, but all in all they are a very solid and useful class. and it's easy to measure how good you are, benefits you get from advancement... and it's just solid... Must only be my server than, cause I am seeing a buttload of docs

If you take medic, why not spend just a *few* more points and get revive.
If you take CM, why not spend just a *few* more points and get revive.
so, out of 3 professions, Doctor, CM, and Medic. Pretty much all 3 of them will have a doctor title available.
I see lots of "Novice Doctors" but very few "Master Doctors"
I agree though, Medicine Usage xp is WAY too easy to get, at least compared to Medicine Crafting xp.
If they're a dime a dozen, they must be forming foursomes out at the local golf course then. I'm a novice doctor on Corellia and a couple of nights ago, just for grins, I decided to 'ride the circuit' as it were and take my doctoring on the road. The first three towns I went to, Doaba Gurfel, Kor Vella and Bella Vistal, I walked into the Med Center and found them empty of player characters, doctors or patients. I /shouted "Doctor on call in the Med Center" and very quickly found myself armpit-deep in patients.
So while there might be a lot of docs out there, they don't seem to be practicing medicine.
hmm, fair enough. True, I have been spending a lot of time around heavily populated areas... you'd think you'd see more combat medics though.
Being a doctor in a small group is ideal... If you've ever been a doctor in a 16 person biz natch group then you truly do feel useless, outside of being on res duty. I pray for CM skills in those situations, though I dont do large groups enough to warrant it IMO

well it should be relatively easy to master...its an elite class not a hybrid...
CM takes 29 more points to master than doctor...harder to dabble as a CM...
and the reason its easier to dabble in doctor is because 2 of ur 4 trees stem directly off medic skills while CM starts u on a whole set of new skills. Remember master doctor isnt really an end class...29 more points than CM make it alot more viable for you to master another class...CM isnt quiteas much of anend class as say BHbut it is one of the most point intensive classes thus making it harder to dabble in...
I dont see that many more doctors than i see of other master titles....
so while u say its easy to dabble in doctor think of the benefits you get because ur tree is linked to the medic tree...
doctors get to start off cafting in doctor with all their points from medic while CMs need to start awhole new crafting tree...
I am not sure if there are all that many doctors.
In Bestine Gorath I don't see all that many Doctors, but it could be the time of day I am playing.
Personally I think developers made leveling Doctors easy since they are the only one who can do big wound heals and I guess at higher level planets and in massive PvP, there will be LOT of people with wound damage. More than Non-Doctors can heal with woundpack B's(although personally I have yet to see this happen. Maybe the game isn't old enough yet) If such is the case, I guessdevelopers were afraid they will beswamped with complaint from players that downtime is too long due to lack ofskilled doctos. At least that is what I amconstantly being told.I'll belive it when I see it tho'
But as it stand right now, I must say there are WAY too many doctor than is needed.
