Its interesting to see the Medic correspondent with an Weaponsmith/DE toon....

The problem is there aren't enough money sinks in the game. They have more money coming in than they have ways of getting out. This furthers the difference between those who are master crafters and those who aren't. When they took revocation out in Beta they removed markets for anyone who isn't a master. As a master Doc do you really think I'm not going to sell Stim Bs because I'm a Master now? You have to be kidding me! Do you think a Master WS isn't going to sell Scout Blasters because he's a master? That means to make money as a crafter you must be at the Master level to compete. No way a base medic is going to be able to make stims at the same level as I am and still turn a profit on them.

For Docs that leaves running missions or getting tips. I think we all know the resource generated from tips....

Alot of the issues are within the mechanics of the game. People who can go to Dath, take 2 10k missions run to the mission 500m attack the lair immediatly, stimming yourself and running around it. Then sprint away. Repeat for the 2nd lair but this time die and get a free trip home. This puts insane amounts of cash into the system without enough sinks. Even if they turn on the insurance, you bank everything and do it. Your pay out covers the few things you need insurance for.

What they need to do is place a 'boss' mob in every lair that must be killed before the mission is complete. That would stop alot of the problems.

This is a knee-jerk reaction. This does not solve the underlying issues of Novice to Master crafters, game mechanics, and the 'Haves and Have nots'. It's simply healing the damage vs curing the poison.

ctually I have 5 characters on 3 servers.

Chilastra
carbine/doc/ musician
rifleman /de/gunsmith

Gorath
Novice brawler (gonna be commando)
Novice medic (dunno what yet)

waiting on friends to join game.

I also have a medic on TC.

I played everything but CH/BH and jedi in Beta 3... though it is hard to say anyone could actually play commando or smuggler in beta.

People tend to focus so much on 1 small section of the game, they run around and trample other professions, by not knowing what they entail.

SWG has too many cool things for me to do...

I think u missed the orginal point of making money issue #1...

i have no money issues at all, i have played the game the way the devs made it...selling meds and running missions...do i like it? heck no, but thats the way it has to be done...does that mean i have to accept it? nope thats why we have correspondants to given feed back to the devs. Just because the system is the way it is doesnt mean it has to stay that way.

still the fact is that medical professionals lack a variety of money making avenues...this was similar to the entertainers...

now entertainers are getting mission terminals so are artisans(probably the rich profession in the game) but yet we do not. Fact is soon all classes but ourselves will be able to gain xp for their profession while earning money using an in game system.

Elenora, I do agree with you here -- and that's also not what I was trying to say. If every other class gets a mission terminal and docs don't? You're very, very right: that's bad business, it's unfair, and it's unbalancing. I also didn't know that this was an issue until right now; that's not what I was responding to. I'm still working on the game as it is right now, not as it may or may not be in the future -- I don't play on TC because I don't have the space for the extra installation. As things stand right now, it is more than possible to make money without crafting OR fedexing OR shooting anything, but what I see over and over again on the forums is that for some people (obviously present company excluded) that isn't enough. Isn't that frustrating to you, too?

Iguess I don't view such "complaints" as complaints. I try to view them as constructive criticisms (and admittedly in some cases it is really just whining, I'll admit that, but not in the majority of cases, IMHO). Maybe it's because I was in Beta, but to me suggestions for game improvements, changes to what is not the here and now in the game, but the what could be in the game, are a very important aspect of the ever-changing and ever-growing nature of what a MMORPG is.

I don't consider these kinds of topics complaints that it sucks that some particular person is having some difficulty with a particular aspect of the game, but instead consider them speculations on way in which the game might be improved.

Now I agree that making money as a Doc, in my personal opinion, is not nearly as important as some of the numerous bug fixes are that we really need to function properly. But it is also not my place to dictate my personal views on those matters. If the folks discussing money problems are driving you nuts, change the topic. Post what IS driving you nuts. Get other folks to post there that it's driving THEM nuts. That way you can knock down the items you personally view as less important in favor of those items you view as more important.

My selection criteria for the weekly Top 5 is pretty well known. I have to rely on the topics getting the most attention and/or the best Post Ratings (that little 5-star rating option on the lower right of each message) to determine which items get prioritized where on the list. So it's up to you guys to give topics that extra attention that you think they need.

Actually Artisans don't make money until about 1/2 way up their advanced trees (then they make buckets of it).

Nobody wants nearly anything made in artisan (ooh wrinkly pants and CDEF weapons...).

Most of the low stuff in the Advanced artisan profession is garbage, or is garbage untill they get 3-4 boxes in experimentation.

I have a weaponsmith / DE character. He can't afford to run harvesters, forget about a house or factory. He barely makes training costs, and spends a lot of his time sampling. I have to sell low level stuff at prices that would not pay maintenance, just to get people to buy them.

I honestly (as an entertainer) don't think entertainers need missions. I also think, I get more money and XP in the cantina.. .then any dev designed mission will give me for time/effort invested. My TC character doesn't have entertainer.

Ihe same will be true of any medic missions that may get made. They have to be worse then the best case for a medic is a good group, or good med center situation.

Interesting backup activity.. nothing more, or it would stop players from ever healing other players.... Why woudl the devs ever make a system that encouraged us to not heal other players?

I make absolutely 0 money in the med center, mainly because I never go there. If one of my PA needs some black reduced great, im right there with my bot in my pocket. If randomCH#1245322 sends me a tell asking me to come to med center and heal him and his pets up I politely refuse asI cannot afford to expend my kits on them. (I recently realized how much more peaceful life is with my carbinire tag up For point of example I figured out the actual cost of each health wound kit with advanced components, is right at about 3100 credits in parts. This is based off of what the components sell for on bazaar so give or take a few hundred. Now I get about 18 charges, and it takes me 2 to clear a half bar of health damage. So anyways its roughly 172 cred per heal in cost alone to me. Of the 9 tips ive ever gotten only 4 were over 50 credits. Its not worth it to me to lose that much money for 200xp per heal, I get more than that healing entertainers and the delay between heals is droped by 18 seconds, and cheap b's or c's will sufice.

Now to the constructive part how to make money!

1) Alluminum: find a spot out in the boonies, as far away from other miners as possible and find quality 800+ aluminum. Sounds difficult but honestly it really isnt. Drop 2 mediums and a solar. Sell stacks of 500 for 2400-2600 creds depending on supply and demand. I have bought a whole set of harvesters, a full set of custom padded, a dxr6, a probot, and a number of other items for friends doing this alone. When I log on I usually find myself with 20-30k I didnt have the night before. Half goes back into harvesters other half goes into the "twink vargyr" fund. (side note: alluminum is a major ingredient in alot of high end architect and droid items, like the generator part of harvesters. That copper and ore are ALWAYS in demand. I avoid steel because the market is usually flooded with it)

2) Stim b's: get a factory running and start mass producing high end stim b's. I use advanced chem and bio's and just standard liquid. My b's heal better than alot of the c's out there hehe. I sell them for 1k each and rarely ever catch up with my orders for them. Profit is only about 300 per but thats ALOT when I make crates of 25 at a whack.

3) Missions: I am only advanced in pistol and I can do missions that net 1800+ a run, I know this is changing but it shows I can hold my own. the macro is /peace /heald self /bodyshot2. I bought a probot with med crafting and medical brains that also acts as emergency tank for me. Its really nice sitting in a waterfall on naboo crafting away

You dont have to do combat to make money, just find a need and fill it. Tipping I doubt will ever be any kind of income for us, untill the combat types realize they havent seen a doc in the med center for a week or two and there tired of sitting there
