Thread: Doctor's Unite, Don't let this covert nerf go in!!!
As a Test Center player, I can tell you -- it's all true.
Mission payouts are being re-scaled. "Beginner" level missions -- levels 6-15 or so -- will be paying out MUCH less. Your Tatooine kreetle-lair mission that currently pays 800-1200 credits will soon be paying out 400. The average reduction is between 50%-75% for these missions.
However -- the missions are much quicker to do. Where a kreetle lair today may spawn 15 kreetles, the new mission lair will spawn 5 or 6 total.
The trade-off comes for higher level missions. These will pay more. I can't tell you how much more, because I'm not powerful enough to get these missions yet.
Also, there will be "profession-specific" missions. Some of these -- the Explorer "Hunting" missions -- are very profitable. You're required to kill a certain number of creatures (currently on TC it's a multiple of 15); when you do, you get your money. A 45-critter mission currently pays out in the 5k-7k range. 15 critter missions pay about 1000.
So the mission payout isn't TRULY nerfed -- you can still make good money at low levels. You just have to work more at it.
Will this affect docs? Darn tootin'. I pick up a couple of lair missions on my way back home because the 3k I get from them pays for my Lok trips. If those two lair missions only pay 800 -- I won't bother. Iwill, however, pick up hunting missions and just kill stuff as I see it. No rush.
Do I think docs and medics will have to start demanding payment? Yes. And it's not a moment too soon.
This makes sense, So they will lower the payout of generic destroy missions then put the real money in class specific ones.
The flaw to this plan is that it still relays on Reaganomics when it comes to service professions and we have all seen that a person can have over 200k in thier bank account and still tip in the 200-300 for a full heal. This isn't going to help.
I agree that it should be fighter classes that make the money and dispense it throughout the rest of the classes, but when the fighter class still prove that they would rather either sit on the funds or spend it on weapons and armor this make the job harder for service classes.

Yeah except all classes but the medical ones will have class specific terminals...So now we will be the only class complaining about money. Even entertainers will have mission terms. Once everyone gets mission terminals and has a way to make class specific money, medics will still be complaining about lack of ways to make money. Since we will be alone, everyone will basically start to say...MAN you guys are still whining about tips and payment? go run missions...even the entertainers and the artisans do it~ why cant you?
Anyone see that one coming?!
welcome to SOE economics 101...
I prefer to do FedEx Missions. They take just a little time as Destroy Missions for the same amount of reward. I normally do 3 round-trip missions from Kadaara to Theed and net about 6K in a half an hour, give or take.
I would love to see medical missions implemented. Say, having to deliver Poison Cure kits, etc. (something we've manufactured ourselves) to an outpost Medical Center Representative, or whatever other scenario you'd like to invent.
lol i can do destroys for 3k in 10 mins out of kaadara for about 10k every 30mins...
but then again im not really using my med skills by doing that im using my pistol specialist skills...and u arent using med skills running doing delivers...
remember combat types get both xp and money...
I really don't like doing either, to be honest. Why is it that when-ever source of income comes up, that those classes that can/should, imo, rely on the generosity of other players, those players are called lazy, and told they should be running missions? I would much rather spend my time playing the game the way I prefer, healing players in the field or in the med cens.
Of course, when we ARE doing missions, then players bitch and moan about no healers (or entertainers) being "where they're supposed to be", i.e med cens or cantinas. THAT one always slays me.
You hit it on the nose, Jas.
Lots of folks calling those players intersted in the issue of how Medics do/could/should/would make money "whiners". A rather non-procutive manner of name calling. They should just say that they LIKE making money doing destroys or deliveries and think that is enough, and leve it at that.
The name calling does nobody any good.
And it really is funny seeing those who enjoy combat more, saying we should just "get some pistol skills" to do destroys or some artisan bitching"sell solar power, for cryin' out loud" how they also complain when nobody is at the med center to heal them when they want it.
/shrug
Makes you wonder how we ever get around trying to make suggestions for game improvements or things to take a look at without expecting a flame war.
I completely agree
I hate doing missions...i hate doing faction missions...
but i do it cuz this is what the game has forced me to do in order to function...
seriously tho, medics want to heal its why we made medics, so why not just give us medical missions...that way we can get money for what we do best.
why do all the other non combat classes get terminals but not us?
"why do all the other non combat classes get terminals but not us?"
Are we sure that there will not be medical missions by the time they move this patch to the Live servers? Maybe they overlooked them or are still testing them internally.

Actually, Zarlor, my point previously is that forcing people to tip in the med centers is NOT the greatest of our Doctor concerns. People *are* whining about combatants not tipping enough; from my perspective, it's not name-calling so much as pointing out that sitting all day every day in the med center complaining about Bill Gates the Master Architect not sharing the wealth or whatever is *not* constructive, is *not* solving our problems, and with that as our "top issue" none of the things that are actually broken are going to be looked at.
I have novice marksman. That's it for my combat skills, and I'll be dropping it shortly because I'm running out of points. I don't like blowing stuff up because I'm not any good at it and I don't *want* to be. I don't make my money running my own destroys -- I make it running around healing people in the field. In return, I take them to where my missions are and they blow them up for me. I don't get combat exp for it, but I still get the cash -- and I honestly think that this is the way it *should* be.
It bothers me that it seems like the same people over and over again are complaining about the "lack of money-making" in the medic and doctor professions -- and then refuse to do anything about not being able to afford their own large house or their own personal PA. I can tell people time and again that you can make scads of money selling high-quality stimBs; in fact, I have a fantastic working relationship with several people, some of whom (thank you, Viso and Anderson) buy in such bulk that my house (used to store crates of components and little else) is paid up for the next two months. I suggest this to people, and they complain that they don't like crafting or having to hunt for resources. Or I tell people what I do, partnering with combatants on missions -- and they complain they don't like combat. Well, honestly, what else is there?
I call them whiners because they come across as people who don't want to have to work for their money. They don't ever want to craft (except the nine gojillion BECs on practice it takes to get Master Doctor), they don't ever want to survey, they don't ever want to talk to anyone else, they want to sit in the med center and have their woundpacks handed to them, their skills automatically trained, and have fountains of credits just dumped in their pockets.
Wanting the devs to institute these magic fixes is not a legitimate concern. It's a whine, and I'm going to stand by this.
Well now that I have your attention.
There is a post on the main board about SOE lowering mission payouts. Some have said as much as 50% less.
Now I don't know about the rest of you, but missions are about the only place I can make money to keep myself in medicines. Especially if you want to make the more advanced medicines. Even if I did not have to maintain my own harvesters I would have to pay the other poor smoe that IS maintaining his.
Since there is nothing in place to force anyone to pay us for our healing services, other than the doctors just saying "No I am not healing you unless you pay".
Anyway I am trying to drum up support to keep this nerf from making it even harder for us casual gamers. I am sure there are going to be those that agree with the change, OK great then you do not have to do missions because you are the better player, for me maybe i need a little help!
