I really can't believe that they could make such a stupid move.

If things stay the way they are, there will be very few people willing to do the doc grind. I mean come on, does anybody really expect new players to grind medic when the only way to get XP is to heal a player while they're fighting a creature or NPC....and when doing this causes all the other creatures or NPCs in the area to gank the medic? Who's gonna bother?

This will mean that there will be fewer and fewer healers available to groups and it will have the opposite effect of that intended, which was to get people to group more. Yes, if I'm not mistaken this was done because the devs weren't happy with the way we were playing; they wanted us to go out in groups rather than solo because....I don't know, I really have no idea why the devs would or should care how we play the game. If I want to solo a lair buffed that's my business, and if I want to tumble afk or heal a tumbler and master the doctor prof in a day or two and it's not hurting anybody, that's also my business.

At the very least mastering medic or doctor shouldn't be close to impossible, as it currently is.

So if nobody bothers with medic, nobody's going to bother with doctor, which means that eventually it'll be as tough to find somebody to heal your accumulated wounds as it is to find somebody to image design you.

This is going to mean that people will be force to leave their characters sitting in med centers or camps AFK for hours and hours to let the wounds heal on their own. Ironic, since one of the things the devs were trying to stop was afk people.

When you make anything for public comsumption your job is to give the customer what they want....not to force feed the customer what you think they need to have! This nerf by itself has not suckedall the fun out of SWG for me, it won't cause me to stop playing forever, but it's definitely a step in the wrong direction and if these people don't do something to make things better for healers then it'll be very clear that they just don't give a.....I'm simply too angry to end that sentence without an expletive so I'll leave it unfinished.

Actually...

I mastered Doctor on combat healing (mostly) and wounds. Under Post-CU, by being clever about using the various heals at the right time, and using Hate management, I've been capped in Medical XP forever... I really have to get off my butt and turn it in for FSXP.

IMO the most annoying aspect about being a Doctor is not Hate or being out-damage-healed by Jedis (if you have Jedis you should be fighting stronger Mobs anyway, and that's where Doctor shines), but it's gaining no XP for Wound healing, and generally having Jedi do that better than Doctor, since Jedis aren't burning Force for combat ops.

One thing I really want to know is what's the effective rate of Wound healing for Jedis. As a Master Doctor, I can't run out of Mind when Wound healing because of the timer. Can Jedi's run out of Force, when Wound healing? Do Jedi's run out of Force often enough to make the lower effective Wound heal rate of Doctor worthwhile in the medium-term run? After all, one doesn't sit around anywhere constantly Wound healing.
