I had a Doc pre-CU.

Post CU, everyone claimed Doc sucks...

Guess what? They were wrong

I now have two Master Docs because I took the time to learn to play the class properly post-CU. Doc/Pistols/4000CM and I can heal anything that gets thrown at me. Doc/TKM and I can tank 2 L82s, 3 if I work hard... and still kill them solo

I solo, I group, I PvP, I rock

As a doc/tkm how do you stop getting knocked down?
its so frustrating and you cant get up for ages.
There doesnt seem to be any dizzy state applied that can be treated as before, just a knock down that cant be counteracted

Pre-CU (Aug '03). this was my first Elite Profession and i have not changed it other than taking back the skill points from Medic that are no longer tquired. I took it for the fun of healing in combat and for the crafting (no, serious about that)... Something about trying for to craft the best subs and final packs is fun.

Post-CU.. i am still trying to learn how to play Doc again in the field. This weekend i learned a lot and can handle heals for the full group as long as i am not tanking as a TKM. but still can handle the group (with one or two incaps now and again).

After all is said and done, i still like the profession but i feel that they really hurt those of us vet's with the CU.. i am not a sipporter of the CU, but since i want to play in the realm of SW, there is really nothing i can do but learn it and master it..

there is a 'knockdown' recovery... look in 'ctrl + a', pretty sure it is under the combat tab..

I took master doctor for my own purely selfish reasons. So i can survive longerif i am out soloing. So I can buff myself and my guildmates. So i can res my guildmates and others. So I can tank a little better and a little easier. The bacta infusion is an amazing ability in my opinion. I rezzed one of my guildmates who is a jedi after he was defeated by a bh. Ok, so i took master doc not make money but to help myself and my friends out.

It is another good day to play the CU.

There simply aren't enough healers on Shadowfire, Jedi included, to support the number of groups out there. I wanted to do my part to make the game more enjoyable for the folks that prefer not to be a healer or spend money on stims.

I wasnt far along in the ranger tree when pub 17 came out...I wasnt selling the hides I was collecting, camo got nerfed...so I respeced to 2003 Doctor and am gonna play it the rest of the way. I love the fact that I can help my guildmates and others that I'm grouped with in combat and after combat, and I cant wait for the ability to rez. Its fun for me, and plenty useful. Sure the buffs arent what they were pre-CU, but they do help.

I started doc pre-CU. Mainly because I'm a roleplayer by nature and was looking for something not combat intensive. I figured being a doctor would allow me to interact with and help others and would make a good main profession, with some pistols for a mainly defensive ability to supplement it.

I've stuck with doc (and myoriginal template)through the CU because, although the nature of the profession has changed, it still is the closest to what I was looking for. Advancing in doc is now solely combat based, but I'm really looking forward to finishing that so I'm free to go where I can heal others. I enjoy this as I am able to solo many things (I am in a guild, but it is newer and not everyone is always on when I am), and my role in a group is fun as well. So it makes for a good all-around template.

My only real complaint (now that they've upped the heals somewhat) is that the xp can only be earned in combat. I really would like to see this changed, mainly for wound healing, but inany way they could. Even though it wouldn't really affect me much at this point, I think it would make the profession better for everyone, and especially newer players.

I took Doc/TKA because:

  • I like helping other players. This is theprimary reason that, although I've re-specced back and forth between TKA/Doc and TKA/CM, I've always come back to Doc. A CM outside of battle is unable to help others with wounds ( or, to a lesser degree, buffs ).

  • I like the ability to be self-sufficient. Post-CU, I can adventure perfectly fine with nothing in my inventory ( not that I do, as I'm too lazy to take stuff out of my inventory until it gets full ). I haven't and won't reach self-sufficience ( still need Entertainers for BF, and crafters for speeder bikes ), but right now I have a minimum of shopping I have to do in order to go adventuring. Since my play time is limited, I like to be able to skip prep work when I want to.

  • I receive a certain satisfaction in group adventuring by keeping the others alive. It's a challenge (sometimes more of a challenge than others) to me to keep my group standing, while they do the killing.

  • The occasional "thank-you"s I hear from other players ( particularly after a harrowing rescue and /revive in hostile territory ) are nice to hear.

  • The rare tips are nice to have.

I am a roleplayer and Doctor is the centerpiece of the character. The only way I would get rid of Doctor from my favorite avatar's template would be to reroll.
