Thread: I love the new doc profession.
The incentive to heal people's wounds is also gone.. not only can it take a few minutes to heal someone who had a few deaths in Space (even as Master), but you don't get anything in return. Maybe a 'thank you' and that is good enough for me, but any none master is out hunting to get their exp. I think I've read somewhere that SOE plans to remove BF from the game and make people go to the Entertainers to 'get something good' instead of 'cure something bad'.. that change in philosophy doesn't seem to be true for Doctors.
I will stay Doctor, but I still don't like how SOE made a 1-sided cleric out of a once great and diverse profession.
after returning from a year long break, im horrified at whats happened to the doc proffesion. i still havent figured out what the heck has happened to my doc, but all i know is that when i quit a year ago, i had about 2 mil worth of buff paks. now they arent buff paks. in fact, im still not sure what they are. i just know they are useless and make me worthless. so far i have been asked to heal wounds or damage about 20 billion times. is that my only purpose now? to be everyone else's servant? what makes my toon of any value to ME? sure it seems valuable and convenient to everyone else, but how am i supposed to get personal enjoyment from my character. being everyones personal healer is not what i worked hard to get my master doc for. i did it for my own enjoyment. i think thats probobally why everyone made a master doc...... so THEY could enjoy the game. not so everyone else could take advantage of your hard work to make THEIR game experience more enjoyable. so far i have refused to heal any wounds or damage. im not doing crap to help this community if i get no benefit from it. call me a selfish doc. i could care less. where is my personal game enjoyment? thats what i pay 15 bucks a month for.
now i dont mind healing people. i always did it before, but it has to be an enjoyable aspect to the game for me. what can i do to enjoy this game again? is there anything fun about being a doctor anymore? i cant wear my armor, arm my weapon, or do any of the things i did to enjoy the game a year ago when i quit. not only that, but when i reinstated my account, i was naked, weaponless, and buffless. i kept getting this message that i could respec. what does that mean? can i trade in my doc skills for combat skills? also i was above the skill cap so i had to drop some skills. one important question i have is- can i drop medic skills and maintain my master doc skills? if so, what disadvantages does that have? someone please help me to figure this crap our and i might start helping others in the game by being their personal physician for free.

Hello all , first off i wasn't doc before cu so i didn't make a killing off of 10k buffs. But i am very much valued in my hunting groups and my guild. I go to Eisly when i don't have much else i want to do and heal new people i heal wounds wherever i see them for free. Sometimes people tip me but i don't care if they don't. I am a master bounty hunter as well so i can afford my lifestyle in the game without tips. I just don't see the big deal about it all those that got to make 10k per buff are rich now so why complain about it you made your money. I just enjoy the fact that people are so wonderfully happy when i can give them wounds a good healing. It might not be the thing for everyone else but i truly enjoy it. I make new friends get to chat about alot of stuff get a thank you from everyone i heal. What's not to love?
Sweeno987, yesyou can respec out of doctor for a combat profession if u choose too. Doctor is now considered a combat profession. You can drop 2 lines in medic, the one with bacta toss and the crafting line and still keep Doctor. Doctor and one elite combat proffesion does equal level 80. I have got Master Pikeman/Master doctor, TKM and Master doctor is a nice combo because with TKM u don't need armor because u get an ability called innate armor. I haven't tried doctor with a ranged proffession but i am sure it will work good together as well. It just depends on your playing style. Also, the token respec is a one time deal if you don't like what u got after that then you will have drop and grind whatever it is that u want. A lot of ppl lost a lot of stuff during the conversion. The Bio-Engineers got all of our crafting and the 10% buff is working as intended u can increase the time some by medical droids( not sure what else u can use to increase time). But the three hour buffs of last year will not be coming back.

Maybe you just had to play the old system to understand why some of us are upset. Buffs arent the main issue I havent really heard too many people complain about not making money for buffs. As far as wound healing, it takes way too long to heal them, Wounds that I was able to heal in one or 2 clicks (about 1 minute) can take about 15 minutes to heal. Healing a complete black bar takes too long now. Not getting any XP for it makes it even worst. Why would aspiring doctors hang out in the med centers and heal wounds? There's no XP in that, they have to be out in combat gaining XP. Thats why its so hard to find a doctor.
Crafting is gone. Like someone mentioned before, there was an excitement that came with finding out that dolovite or class 4 petro had finally spawned, or learning about some uber dant berries. Going out and placing the harvesters and finally crafting some great stims and wound packs (I didnt craft buff packs). That part of the game is gone.
With a doctor you could be a crafter, a healer and a combatant (when combined with something else). If i wanted to craft all day I would craft and when I was done with that I would heal wounds at starports (med centers before they became dead). Buffing was also and option (usually did this alongside wound healing). Hunted for meats which I used in my medicines, and also there was theguild events such as the Corvette, base raiding, Krayt Hunts, etc.
Let me get this strate. Pre CU you were able to:
Hunt, Fight, Craft, Buff and Heal.
Hmm, to do all those things you needed Scout, a fight class, and Doc. All 250 skill points needed to be used in order to do all those things. You could not do all those things with just Doc.
Now, with 250 skill points you can still
Hunt, Fight, Craft, Buff and Heal.
Forexample, if you pick up 0004 BE (which means you have scout) and perhaps CH since you already have 1 line of the same scout, and doc. With this build you can still use high end weapons, armor, have pets to tank for you when you hunt, craft at a master level.

i cant wear my armor,
What do you mean you cant wear your armor? If your talking about your Comp armor that was there Pre-CU did you know that you can refit it to any armor type you want? Select the armor and hold it down, on the radial dial you will see an option that says something like Refit. Select that and follow the path that leads to an armor type that you can use.
arm my weapon,
You could not use any weapon as a doc pre CU so I am not sure what you mean by this comment. Post CU you can use 80% of the weapons out there as they do not require a cert and as a master doc you have the CL level to us most weapons. To use a weapon pre-CU you had to have a fight class, in the CU you do not. If you do have a fight class in the CU, however, you have access to more specials. There are a few exception of course.
or do any of the things i did to enjoy the game a year ago when i quit. not only that, but when i reinstated my account, i was naked, weaponless, and buffless.
This had nothing to do with Doc. This had to do with your dropping your account.
i kept getting this message that i could respec. what does that mean? can i trade in my doc skills for combat skills? also i was above the skill cap so i had to drop some skills.
The respec is a very nice tool that allows you to rebuild you character. It was something SOE gave us so that if you did not like how your old prof turned out in the CU you could change your build without having to grind again. There are many querky rules on how often you can do this so please be careful and only respec when you are sure you know what you want.
The reason you were suck when you logged in was due to the new prereq's for the different prof. Nearly everyone had a similar issue.
one important question i have is- can i drop medic skills and maintain my master doc skills?
Yes, Doc only requires two branches of medic now, rather than M. Medic.
if so, what disadvantages does that have? someone please help me to figure this crap our and i might start helping others in the game by being their personal physician for free.
Most folks would say that M. Medic and the crafting line of medic are not very valuable when you compare it to the skill point costs. So my general advice is to drop these.
The CM line of medic (x4xx) is still valuable to a doc as it gives area and range heal skills. If you can afford the skill points I suggest keeping them.
There are many many things that have changed in the CU. It will take a good amount of time to get used to them and to fine tune your new skills. In many ways it is a new game, but with your same old friends. Take time to get comfortable with the new game before judgeing it to harshly.
ok. for now, ive decided to keep doc so i can heal my own wounds and damage. i was pretty far along in the pistolleer tree, but it wasnt even that good back then. im actually glad i can respec out of that. what would be a good path to pursue so i can do something to enjoy this game? is carbiner, pistoleer, or rifles better? in the old days, rifles own, but im sure they have nerfed the heck out of them too. any other combo suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i must say though that this whole combat revamp has made me one bitter doctor. i used to be very generous. this makes me want to be a very selfish doc. why should i support the community that campaigned so hard to have me nerfed into uselessness? if i can buff, how in the world do i even do it now? what about the millions i invested in resources, buff paks, and stims? does customer service just consider that a wash? i worked hard for my money and possesions. they are either all gone now or worthless. im very jaded, but i feel that this game has let me down. i do appreciate the oportunity to respec my toon, but i didnt want to do that in the first place. i just wanted to be a doc like it was when i worked so hard to achieve the profession. its just very disapointing. i would appreciate advice though. i need to know where to go with my toon now. i want to have fun with the game again. obviously being a pure doc is no longer even worth logging in for.
as far as my friends go: im very disapointed to see that they have been driven from the galaxy as well. most of my friends were docs and CM's. what made them all leave? not a single one of them is left. in fact the whole community of SWG seems to be greatly dminished. makes me wonder if its even worth playing anymore. it also seems that they have almost nerfed this game into non existence.
please provide me with some working doc templates though. i worked so hard for doc that even though its worthless now, i do not want to drop it. maybe they will wake up sometime and make us valuable again.

I did mention that you have to combine doc with combatant.
The reason why I didnt go 0004 BE is because Ive been told that most of the stuff you craft (the enhancers) arent worth the effort and resources that go into crafting them. I know the stronger stims (D's and possible C's) are worth the effort, my guildmates still use them. Before I was crafting wound packs, rez packs and stims (B's C's and sometimes D's), sounds like now all I will be crafting is stim D's (and maybe C's)
Marrow, any idea what the CL is for that template is (the doc/ch/be)? And does that include Master CH? Mighttry it out on a toon i havent respec'd on. CH was one of the professions I enjoyed
I totally disagree and here is why. Doc's went from selling Stim packs, Selling wound packs to medic's. Crafting buffs, selling buff packs, selling buffs, being the only one who could rez.
Now we can't craft buff packs to sell to other docs, or stim packs to sell to the whole population, and really why sell a buff when it takes no effort to make it? Its like heals, I heal for free to. i see no point in charging for my "magic" skills.
So basically EVERYTHING I did, all the 5 things I used to make money have been taken away.
It disguests me the way they change everything all the time.

Well, unless I have done my math wrong I believe you can Master CH and Doc and get 0004 BE (which would make you a lvl 80 toon) and still have 5 points left over. I cant seem to find the character builder (im at work) to confirm. With those 5 pts you could pike up 4244 medic for another healing option or x1x4 BE for a bit more crafting.
The advantage with this build is that you only need 2 novice boxes (scout and medic) yet it enables three elite prof. Good use of skill points.
I was a CH way back in the day and enjoyed it. I see a lot of potential there in the CU and have thought about going that way. I still have a lvl 54 woolymander that would be fun to play with again.
Another option might be CM/BH/BE but I dont think you can master both CM and BH but the added firepower from BH might be nice to play with.
