the short and nasty of it: it sucks, and imho, its useless.

first, a little about me, I mastered Doc way back when almost no one knew about macros, before holos, and I can honestly say the only grinding I did on it was for the crafting. I'd venture to say I'm one of the "oldest" docs in existance. In theory, I looked forward to a little medic helper droid, I thought "great, Ill have an assistant out in the field, this will make my job alot easier when Im grouped." Im somewhat of a perfectionist, as Im sure most of you docs are, I hate to see anyone in my grouped incaped. So any assistance is welcome in the healing department.

the report:

I threw reason out the window, thinking to myself "the devs are reasonably logical, perhaps this droid mod will boost the power of the A stims, and the droid won't heal you for a mear 80 points. so I made a batch of my best As, 94/12 laughable by any standard, but its all the droid can handle. I loaded the droid with the stims, hotkeyed /request stim, and attacked a crazed durni using my poor hand to hand skills. I was incaped before I found out you have to have the droid selected before you can hit the hotkey. User error, I admit that, but in battle, does anyone really want to take the time to select the droid to use it? anyway, I sat there for a good two minutes having that droid heal me, little by little (I should mention that my HAM is mind stacked, and I wasn't buffed)

The droid's mechanics work like a charm, it could be a bit more user friendly, and just have it heal you when you /requeststimpack without having to select it. But the droid is a waste. for several reasons:

first of all, you must be capable of crafting Stim Cs to fill the droid with As. Anyone who can craft Cs has no use for this droid. Second: Anyone with basic medic skills can buy Stim Bs, most of you probably have a side business selling your top quality Bs.

I realy don't want to sound negitive here, so, any diffrent views on the "medic" droid mod would be most welcome.

If you ask this doc, let these "medic" droids use Bs, and they will be usefull.

I am in conflict over this. On one hand droids should have some incredible capabilites. Certainly dispensing stims should be withing their power. However, I don't know how I feel being replaced by an R3 on the battle field. For that matter, I don't think surveyors or scouts should be put out of a job either.

/sigh

Well, the devs made you need Pharm IV (stim C's) just as a skill point waste, to thwart the cries of...

"No one will need us, every novice medic will have a droid, wah!"

So, that said, I think the following types could benefit from the A droid...

Four Noobs with no Doc in the group, just starting out, one has the Parm requirements and the droid.

They are leveling in front of Coronet killin durnis, each player can request a "shot" at any time, while the "medic" is busy fighting/ too far away/ incapped...etc.

It has no use in the Nightsister cave with a group of 10 l337 d00dz with 2 master d0cz.

Does the owner get medical XP?

How fast is the droid? (at performing the request)

yeah ok but it is still a waste
seriously does anyone who is not a Noob and learned of stib b's even use stim a's????
no cause they are a waste, when I can craft a stim b that will heal for 1000 HA why would I use a A that heals for 200? even in a droid?

Just noticed this thread as I was on my way to the Smugglers' Forum and thought I'd sneak in and throw in my 2 creds as I was somewhat interested in this droid module.

As a (hopefully soon) to-be Triple Master (Master Smuggler/Pistoleer/TKA) there's no SP for any Medic skills at all. Also, I'm rarely in a group, so no Medic there, either. Therefore, with this droid, I could get at least a little healing help out in the wilds when I'm by myself.

If the droid can hold a good number of these stim-A's (though stim-B's would be nice...), it still has some potential usefulness for me, even if they don't heal too much at a time. So, does it hold a good number of these things?

Yah, I know. But, if I bought one of these things and had a Medic load it up, I can still call it and use the stims until it runs out, right? Then just get it loaded up again. Would that work, or do you have to be a Medic to even call the droid with this module?

Found the answers in, of all places, the DE forums. Looks like someone made an R3 that holds around 600 charges and can heal every 2 seconds (with all 6 spaces in the droid filled with Stim Dispenser modules). Anyone can use them, but the droid has to be transferred to the Medic to fill it.

i think its neat, in particular for non-docs. I dont think was a doc present I do however think as a doc I w/ill use it for fun and i think it would be useful. I can't heal everyone all the time and while i am healing apoisen or two people can heal themselves a week bit. In particular if they die, loose there buff and i have t run off to heal or res someone else, it DOES do a good heal on an ub-buffed person. 100 pts ainy awful, aint good but aint awful.

How much do the adv stim a's heal for??

I consider these droids to be a slap in the face of medics. True, these droids can't compete with a Master Doc hitting the Stim-E's on an incapped buffed player, but these remove the medic from performing healing duties in combat. The scout droid only steals xps from the scout using it, but it lets the scout get lazy when harvesting. The survey doesn't even survey, it goes to the planet you tell it to, opens the survey tool, and sends you a snapshot of what's on the planet. No waypoints or stats. The survey droids are really only good for checking for resource shifts.
