How can you easily heal a group that has more than 8 players? I ask this cause using the hotkey method (ctrl+#) it only accepts up to ctrl+9...and taht makes other players (since ctrl+1 is yourself) so if you have more than that...how do you easily select them?

Cause normally i hunt in groups i need the combat xp as well so i'm fighting and healing at the same time...and sometimes i don't have the luxory of bringing the mouse over their name and selecting them.

So anyone knows the answer i'd greatly appreciate it

Check your keymap (under options>controls>keymap I believe). There are commands for selecting group members -- if you don't like the binding, you can always rebind them elsewhere. The default might be shift+F2 and so on, but my keymap is so custom now I wouldn't trust anything I tell you . ..

That solves character selection, ensuring you are in range to heal them is a completely different issue.

I use the method of mouse selecting the name then using /follow to move to them then heal then click the next and /follow. I also create a macro that sends a /tell to them to stop moving so they don't waste my time having to chase them around. I will also use /drag to move incapped players toward me. then use /assist on people in combat to do my targeting. Then I don't have to do any moving on my own. Hope that helps out.

well i do do all of that.

But see in the midst of a battle and ina huge group, it can be hard to just firstly find the person then mouse click em, which is especially hard to use in large groups. Using ctrl+2-9 is a godsend for those first 8 but i wanna know if there is a hotkey shortcut for the others?

I remember looking for a way to do this in beta when I was writing my medic guide, but I didn't find one so I got used to clicking the name in the list and using /follow. I hate being the only healer in a group bigger than 8 anyway, it's really not workable when you have 6m range and people are running around. And if the pets are also grouped, it's hard to distinguish a player with 200 points remainingfrom apet with 2k remainingin the heat of battle.

I'm in Lone Star PA, Starsider. Every two weeks we have a planned event of a large raid on Fort Tusken. The groups are large, and the damage flies. I can't really give you any other hints than what you do already, but:

1. Carry a crate of stim Bs. Give one or two out to those people who have novice medic and let them know they're responsible for watching their own HAM bar, and not to rely exclusively on me to save their butts. Many people have at least novice medic and can hotkey a stim B.

2. Tell the other players not to spam the expensive specials just for the hell of it. If they do that, they'll need more healing and they'll probably die if I can't get there.

3. Tell people before the battle not to kite the doctor. If they run from a creature, I make an effort to follow them but not at the expense of the group. If they run off too far, I'll justreturn to the group andlet the kiterget incap'd. They have to know my limitations, and I can't make house calls.

4. Click the name in the group list and check the distance meter and the direction of the blue arrow. Custom hotkey #1 - heal damage. Hotkey #2 - heal wound. Hotkey #3 - cure poison. Hotkey #4 - first aid. This way I can go control-1 shift-F1 and cure myself quickly, then control-2 shift-F1 and cure thegroup leader.

5. Let people know in advance where I'll station myself and whoI will concentrate on healing. Generally this is forward of the pistoleers and behind the tank somewhere. Try to work with the group leader so we have an actual, you know, strategy. The closer everyone is, the more likely they'll all live -- I let them know that so there's no misunderstandings.

6. Drag incap'd people back to the group where they belong.

7. Advise the group that if they get severely injured, to /peace and fall back to where I can help.

8. If the group can't follow the above advice, they can die for all I care. I'm not asking too much.

The annoyance of chasing people around in one of the main reasons I went Combat Medic. But back when I was getting all of my exp using regular small stims, if I was in the group mainly for the purpose of getting medical exp I would just simply never fight. Never enterering combat allows you to to be able to click a player name whenever you like and then follow the blue arrow to them. I never had any problems healing people this way as long as they didn't run away from me.

In a place with a concentrated group in one area, it's not so difficult. I use my Alt key like crazy going from mouse-movement to look. I just click on thier name in the group window and hit F6 (where i have my follow key mapped) and slap a heal. I generally never even look at anything but the hams in groups of 10+.

I tell people not to worry as I use very good stims and if they're getting beat up that's good! I don't like to waste my stims on over heal. The only time I do is if multiple tanks are taking too much damage too fast.

Sometime I line up a mind shot on whatever target I see the tanks have aggro on, and then spam peace. After all a little weapons exp doesn't hurt.

Also, I use a slower rifle (laser or dl20a) to initiate combat, then go to a spray stick if the combats going good. With a 2 second timer, I can still que up effective heals.

Not any big strategy or something you probably didn't know already, but take some time in a group of 5 doing a few missions on Lok and you'll get this method down in no time. But be careful out there.. people like to spread out and fight multiple mobs in different directions(that's why I mapped a follow in the first place.)

Regards fellow healers!

I must look really dumb then

Usually, I just keep an eye on the group stats, use ALT to select the person (if they are taking damage) and run after them like a headless chicken!

One shot of a stim D can usually bring them back to full health, and if they die, I just rez them and carry on
