Thread: /healWound should NOT give TEF
but i keep hearing how medics are getting killed all the time in med centers for simply healing wounds of overt/tef'd players. Coulddn't this be implemented pretty easily to solve this problem. Healing wounds wouldn't give the healer a tef, but healing damage would. What are your thoughts?
I think alot of people have been saying that you should get a warning GUI saying "You heal that guy, you get a TEF", but personally, I think that there should be NO combat allowed in med centers AT ALL.
Its used too much for griefing when people run into med centers killing everyone with TEFs.
Are you kidding me?
So, we rebels raid Bestine. We kill Imperials, but they can run into the med center and thier Imperial doctors can heal them without us being able to do anything about it? Haha, no thanks.
I'm a doctor. I've been killed so many times in the med center, I can't even count them. I expect it though, my faction was raiding/being raided and I was healing the wounded as they came into the med center so they could then turn right back around and go fight. Imps would have been stupid not to keep me incapped.
Don't want a TEF? You have two choices - don't declare a faction, or alternatively, sit in an oppositely aligned faction city (i.e. Rebel go to Theed/Bestine) and heal the opposite faction.

Neutral players simply can't perform actions that would have given an aligned player a TEF (at least, in most cases, including this one)
I think the OP was saying that healing WOUNDS wouldn't give a tef. So what if a person is getting attacked and he runs into the med center I shoot him a wound heal for 80 points say? Whoever is shooting at him is gonna take him down faster than that. I shoot a heal damage on him, then I get the tef.
While they at it, they may as well take the tef from trading with overts out too. That was an oversight from the get go. Inconvievable that they would make it like that on purpose. If they did, then they have bigger problems than we thought.
Well, in the case of a raid, you setup your doctor(s) in a med ctr, at a camp, or other "safe" location so the fighters can get buffed/healed etc... the Doc should be guarded by an overt or two. Leaving your healer unprotected is no excuse.
If my city was being raided, and I saw their unprotecteddoctor healing/reviving/buffing them, the Doc would be the first on my "to incap" list.
If you are a faction player, and you help out your faction during a battle, you most defintely should get a TEF, even if you are only healing wounds. Quite simply, if I incap and DB someone, giving them those wounds, and you come along and heal them so they can come out fighting again, sorry you are my next target regardless where you are.
However, in the case of random raids, where it is mostly a free for all and any docs are healing for xp or what have you, I won't come into med ctr to engage. But if you are healing outside, or come out with a TEF, then yes I will attack you without hesitation.
I don't get at allhow people can be suprised by this... if you help someones enemy, you become their enemy as well. You need to ask yourself if that bit of xp, or that tip you -might-get from healing that TEF player is worth possibly getting killed over 3 seconds later.
I will have to respectfully disagree here with you, BadLarry. I would love to have some sort of GUI that would ask me whetherI am willing togain TEF by healing someone or not heal the individual at all. However, if you are choosing to aid the enemy during a time of war (which we are in currently), you are in fact an eligible enemy combatant (imho). I know how frustrating it is, when all you want to do is be a dedicated healer that sits in a hospital and be the "angel of mercy" to the side you feel is in the "right." But, you are helping one faction gain competitive advantage in the battlefield.
It would be interesting if they allowed neutrals to heal anybody, regardless of faction, in a hospital ... but until that day comes....
Healed wounds + someone stimming = a lot of problems in PVP.
Making med centers no-fight, is even more exploitable then wounds.
The medic TEF safety rules are as follows:
1.)Overt players have a symbol next to their names.
2.)Covert players with a TEF, now have a flag on their UI... ask them if they are TEFd before you heal them.
3.) Don't heal the above, and you will be 100% safe.

Oh.. the solution is to ask everysimilarly alignedperson you come across if they have a TEF? Gee, it's all so clear now ![]()
Perhaps making the TEF indicator visible to others in your faction makes more sense. Why not show the faction icon next to a player's name when they're TEF'd?
_Macabre_ hit on a good idea there - as long as the TEF flag showed up (just like it does now for yourself and your pets) to members of YOUR faction, it would do a world of good and no one loses.
