Thread: Ninja Buffing or a Bug?

Heres the story:

Several times in the past few weeks I have been buffing in my regular spot (Theed Med Center), and have gotten the "already has an enhancement" message. It has never been for all their stats, ranging from just one stat to three stats on one player.
One of the instances involved two players that were grouped. I couldn't buff three of the stats on one and two of the stats on another. This last one was a return customer. I had buffed all six stats previously, and he came back about three hours later to get another set. The stat I couldn't buff was his action, but my stamina buffs have the longest duration, so I know that they should have all worn off.

I bring this to the boards because just earlier today, I was sitting out on Dantooine and saw another Master Doc tell one of his buffing patients that someone must have ninja buffed him. The guy responded that his stats showed his action modifier as zero.

All of my patients also reported their modifiers as zero, and aside from this last guy, they all also reported that as being their first set of buffs for the day.

Having them log doesn't seem to help, eating food doesn't help, and taking a hit in combat didn't do the trick.

Any other docs out there having this happen? It's pretty rare, but man it makes my customers mad to get a 3k health buff and then be stuck because I can't hit their action

"The stat I couldn't buff was his action, but my stamina buffs have the longest duration, so I know that they should have all worn off."

Isn't duration just like the actual buff? Ie: just because your buff pack says you have 10k duration, it can vary just like the actual buff amount can vary.

I don't know what you mean by "modifier" or if that's a different issue. But regarding duration numbers on buff packs, i take them with a grain of salt just as I do the actul buff amount listed on a pack.

I've never seen duration vary on a buff. It's always been the number of seconds listed, in my experience (and I've done a LOT of group buffing.) THat being said, Action is a low duration buff for you? Seeing as action only requires a general organic and inorganic, nothing speciific, it should be the easiest one to got the best resources for. For most folks Action is the longer duration for the highest buff level.

Nonetheless, has anyone else run into this kind of a problem? I can't say that I have.

Well, I should say that I can;t say that I have unless Ninja buffing occured. (And when it has occurred I noticed that someone buffed me with one of those lowballers and I made sure to tell them not to do that without getting the patient's permission first.)

I've been seeing lots of ninja buffing on Scylla recently. I'm not sure if it's Holocron docs or some other phenomena.

The main problem was that they were SO insistent that there were no modifiers. That's why I can't see it being a ninja buff.

Good point about the durations Zarlor,I may have written them down wrong in my haste, so I'll double check those tonight.

But I know there are docs out there this is happening to because i saw it happen to the guy, so I'm wondering if there is something that I can try when this happens to have them reset their stats, so the modifier is reconized as zero

Of course, they could just all be bonkers and have been buffed

Well, hopefully we will be gitting a rebuff ability at some point in time that would allow you, if you buff comes out to adding more to the stat than the current buff has, would allow us to just overwrite any garbage buffs that might exist.

This happens to me all the time. All the time. Perhaps 10-20% ofall customers on any given day cannot be buffed because their 'already enhanced.' This is at the top of my list for things that need fixing.

Ok. But is it on the list? In other words, is there a commonality of situation in which you know someone will be unbuffable with this? If so we can use that as a method of tracking down the problem. For example, we know that if you logoff or go link dead for long enough your buffs will drop, but the timer remains active. So there we have an obvious pointer to the problem. Without that we're just shooting in the dark. We need something more to help the Devs find the problem IF this is not a ninja buffing issue. (Hopefully we'll have a fix for that soon enough.)

I am currently unable to buff my action due to a bug, whether it one discussed here or not I do not know.

I am getting the already buffed message yet Iast buffed myself several hours ago and was logged off for 20 minutes.

I have 0 showing in the modifier column. I know I am not buffed yet th eserver insists that I am. This has happened every day to me for the last three days. I was have a friend kill me to "fix" this buff bug.

Also, it has only happened to my primary (of course ) bars, never the secondaries. Yesterday it was health.
