Thread: Doctors the best COMBAT class now?

This is not a joke. lol

A few days ago, I reached master doctor. yay! After which, I started to make some pretty good quality Enhance Pack D's (I could buff for 1800-2100 per stat). I thought to myself, sweet... "after the next patch, I'll be able to buff myself in town and go on a rampage with my few pistoleer skills".

Well, the patch came along.... with a nerf to knockdowns (making it cost 3 to 4 times as much action) and a reduction 75% in PvP damage. I didn't think much of it until last night...

So I buffed myself in the medcenter, and had something like 2200 health, 2300 action and my standard 1100 mind. Then, I buffed my quickness to 1700 thinking that it'd help with the knockdown nerf. Heck yeah it did. I went out to the Narglatch Cave, and could still spam pistol whip with onlookers wondering how.

It wasn't until I got back to town when I realized the new PvP effectiveness of Doctors. I came back from the narg cave (with buffs still intact) and went to the starport (mind you I was overt rebel at the time). I'm sitting there waiting for a shuttle to come, and out pops 2 imperial players from the shuttle... one of whom is a master pistoleer. A firefight started and I was pleasently surprised at the 75% reduction in damage. To make a long story short... the master pistoleer who probably had novice medic, was trying to knockdown everyone and heal himself while his action bar just took a beating. Even with the 75% damage reduction, he was down an out in a matter of 2 minutes. This is while I am beating up on his buddy with my knockdown attacks and novice pistoleer attacks.

Has anyone else begun to realize the potential of doctors now that buffs work? With HAM costs being the only disadvantage to many combat classes now, hybrid doctor/combat professions are going to easily step past these restrictions.

P.S. I love buffs.

Well, I doubt Doctors are the best COMBAT class, lol. But, regarding buffs, I tried to make EXACTLY this point on the SWG Discussion boards yesterday. Too many whiny bitches don't understand this game. There was this thread by some loser who was complaining that knockdowns were useless now that they cost like 150 action instead of 40. I posted that if you have a Doc buff your action pool and quickness (or stamina, or both), all of a sudden you have 2000 action and it only costs 50-80 action to use the knockdown (because as your sub-stats go up, the effective cost of specials goes down).

I for one think the devs were absolutely brilliant to adjust knockdown the way they did. It makes the Doc Buffs actually MEANINGFUL, so that people can only use the SPECIAL moves a lot when they have been buffed up. An unbuffed character shouldn't expect to spam out knockdown, considering how powerful it is.

Brother you aint kidding.

I did full advanced D enhance packs yesterday and went out to try them. Action cost on PistolWhip was between 0 and 12 (depending on amount buffed).

Guess when I need cash I can always sell buffs now. If it weren't for mind damage I would not have been killed at all last night.

Yeah, were it not for mind damage, I wouldnt die either. I think this is why I need a good helm. Wearing no armor is finally getting to me lol.

Lol Im dumping pistol and going rifle. Im swordman and the focused attack on the mind should be vicious with the rifle... Wanna sell your bowcaster? LOL. I can't go real high and keep my doc and I'm not giving that up but I need range..

I have master surgeon and advanced medicine. With experimentation do I need to go any higher to use those advanced enhance d's?

I LOVE the Enhance D packs now that they work (if only they'd fix the targeting on the radial menu!). Even with my packs made pre-patch (no stacks on advanced) and Lowca's *really* crappy reactive gas, I was still buffing 700-1500 with a droid in the field. THIS is why I took Master, and I'm everyone's new best friend with the increased HAM costs. It's fantastic.

Here's a tip: Master ID doesn't take a lot of skillpoints. Argue about the
time it takes to stat migrate, and I'll introduce you to where all my other
points are.

Its only because Pistol Whip needs to be brought in line with the other knockdowns, it currently still costs way too little compared to the others.

I was in the Ty cantina last night on Corellia, Chilastra, healing my BF and mind wounds.

My Mind Pool is set at 900...I walked out with 1500. And didn't even notice it until 30 minutes later.

Tried it again later on that evening, same group of entertainers, same result...

So...apparently...the entertainers can give your mind a nice buff how it works or how long it lasts I'm not sure...

But really, ANY player buffed with both spice, doc enhancers, food, and entertainer enhancers will be a forced to be reckoned with.

Sadly, most of the playerbase hasn't caught on to this fact.

May be dependent on how long you sit there?

Last night I was pretty injured in my Mind Pool. Two clones without a bind(i don't bother to bind since i can heal myself and my mind wounds give entertainers xp) so I was there for a while.

And it was a big group and some were pretty advanced...
