Just wondering if the Doctor-brawler types (Fencer/TKA/Swordsman) have had any success using armor while fighting? If you wear armor, do you also wear a helmet?

I never found it necessary to wear armor. I was a Master Doctor, Teras Kasi Master for a while. I found that I could kill almost any target very quickly with my specials, but armor would increase my mind cost of those specials.

If you can get a good dancer/musician buff before you go out, combined with your doctor buffs, armor is nothing but a plus. But without any mind buffs, I think that Armor is only a hindrance.

Without armor, I could solo anything except a Giant Kimo, Krayt Dragon, or Jedi Master. Doctor/TKA is a good combo.

before I changed to combat medic, always wore some 50% composite after getting buffed for PvM made a big difference in the ammount of damage I was taking. The mind costs were a nightmare though, fight for 5 minutes, sit for five minutes, fight for five minutes...etc.

If things looked like they were getting a little too serious there was always moun gold, oh and take the helmet of when your low on mind after the fighting helps a lot.

I fight most stuff with an encumbrance sliced Helm and nothing else. I like protecting the unbuffable pool.

Once my buffs got over 1k, I migrated nearly all my points to mind. Now I run around buffed 24/7 and put on composite chest/leggings whenever I need. They only hit my willpower for about 125 anyway. I'm still looking for a good helm, tho.

Yes, if you are going TKA/Doc you will jack up all your mind stats w/ migration if you want to take full advantage of being a doc and using armor. With buffed stats your lower H/A and their secondaries wont matter. Also, make full use of a macro that takes all your armor off and puts it back on with just one button. Take it off after every fight, only wear it when you are actually being hit. Also, you can take it off during warcry and such then throw it on right before the mob is ready to start hitting you again.

The harder the mob hits the more reason you have to wear a good suit of armor. If you have 50% resist to the damage type, you basically can now take 4 hits before the damage you've taken is equal to just 1 of those hits without armor. Using PSG's on top of armor is basically like wearing 2 suits depending on the resists of the PSG (they are currently bugged and the stats will migrate on ya after loading).

If you had a psg and armor both with 40% resist to the same damage type and are then hit w/ that damage for 1000, it would drop to 500, then 300....then the 300 hits the armor and drops to 150 then 90. If you just had the armor on it'd just drop to 300.

I was under the Impression that PSG's and armor did not stack.

You mean you thought that you should just wear one or the other, but if wearing both it gave no extra protection?

I wear mabari most of the time. For tough fights, I put on my composite helm. I tend to use blind and bleed alot. I keep specials to a minimum while wearing armor.

Been using encumb sliced ubese set and havent been having any problems with hams, Mind regens sometimes too slowly but then I eat verxxxxxx (cant ever remember the name correctly) and/or muon gold and no probs at all. I haven't used helmet yet tho, should get one and use it after mind drops below 40% then just berserk all the way.

bobakett2...yeah thats what I meant. My PA's Master Armorsmith informed me that the protections will not stack if you equip both simultaneously.

I wear a full set of composite, not sure if its the best way to go but with buffs it works well. If you have powerboost and get a mind buff, you can get all you hams over 3k. With that and armor you are pretty much overpowered.
