I was in Coronet buffing people (this was my first time buffing for money) and I found that I was inundated with SPAM and TELLs. It was very fustrating. People were sending me messages asking how much for my buffs. I hadtwo dead charactersasking me to resuscitate them. I had people asking me to train them. On top of all that was the SPAM flying around. There were 4 other doctors buffing nearby too. It was nuts. Because I tried to reply to as many of the messages as possible, I ended up accidentally buffing my action instead of a paying customer. When I ran out of buffs, I tried to leave to get more and several of the people in line tried to follow me. I told them to wait (none of them had paid me yet), but they wouldn't. I hopped on my bike and sped off with them in hot pursuit. I did mange to lose them, but then one of them sent me a message asking me to send my waypoint to him when I reached my destination!!! When I returned to Coronet, I put onaTusken helm and changed my clothes to hide myself. I almost feel like one of those movie stars that has disguise him/herself from crazy fans!!!

It can get crazy sometimes :/

If I get tells I answer them sometimes.... but I never answer with a tell back.. I just write it out straight in spacial.
Spammers = /addignore.
Tells that ask me to come somewhere is most of the time just no response, a followup message = /addignore.

If someone asks me for price etc, I dont say anything because my macro will tell them every min.
If they cant wait, well, their problem.

Ofcourse, if I dont have a queue at all I'll answer everything

I can add that I did public buffing the first 3 days of being doc, but now I just dont have the energy anymore.
Its fun to sitdown and talk to people while healing them so I might do a short buffsession every now and then, but I am not spending hours on public buffing anymore.
I dont need the money, and even if I did I make more money running missions.

Yep, if I need money, I run missions. I join a solo group and use a town with an Improved Job Market and my TKM side can run two 32k Janta or Mokk missions every 3 minutes. So, I make 64k in the time it takes to make 20k buffing. I will public buff when there are no other Dr's around but not on planets like Coronet or Naboo. I just ignore stupid or silly requests and have an addignore list of over 500. I heal wounds, disease, and poison for free and will sometimes res people that are close by and not in a situation that I have to fight my way in and out of. If I res and they gets killed 5 minutes later, I ignore them from then on.

You have had your first experience with the "Doctor Tef".

Welcome to the club!

Here's what helped me, before I stopped buffing the public:

1) Create a macro that tells your rate, the status of your buffs, and any special instructions you may have for those who want buffs or other services. Either loop it so it repeats at a reasonable (but not spammy) rate or hotkey it so you can fire it off manually at intervals.

2) Set your profile to include the same info as the macro. Some people will examine you and will see the instructions there.

3) Set yourself afk and make your afk message say the following:

a. Your rates and instructions, again.

b. Instructions to stop sending you tells, but to communicate through spatial or email.

c. Whether or not you are rezzing, healing, etc, and if so how they should contact you. Personally , I never travel to rez anyone. It's your choice. You have to clone and they can too.

Even with all of this, some people will ignore the instructions and try to bully, cut in line, beg for a discount, nag for a rez, etc. Ignore them. If it gets bad add them to your ignore list.

You are a doctor for yourself. Period. Any help or assistance you want to give is your choice. Nobody should get away with treating you rudely. The ignore list is your friend.

Stand up for yourself and direct the crowd. Don't let it direct you. Be friendly but firm and polite.

Those who can't or won't listen, get nothing.

Those who follow you or tip you anyway when you say you're done, get nothing forever. Personally, I'd keep the tip, too, as long as you have previously told them no.

Have fun, make money, and good luck.

Every time I log in I'm terrified they changed the game to Dance Dance Revolution without telling anyone after holding a "focus group"

Thanks for the tips. I'm definitely going to use them.

And dont forget if you have enough customers, turn your title off.

Create a buffing macro too

So you'll have time to answer tells if you want

Set up the following macro when buffing

/reply Yes, I am buffing. Currently, located at [where you are]. I charge [x amount]k for them. Here are my stats;

/macro thismacrosname OR ui action toolbarSlotxx;

I like to leave it running all the time that way I get everyone who replies...mind you if some one gives you a tell like you friend asking where the starport is that'll keep getting that and you'll have to dump. Some people have it set to just click a f1-12 button and boom you reply back

this way when you get a tell you'll auto replyto them with all the info you need. yes tells are annoying but look at this way....they could be paying customers.

"Yes, that was the shuttle leaving right after we bought our tickets.....yes, your right, we could probably swim faster to the planet and back two times before the next shuttle gets here."
