Thread: Doctors unite: Buff Price...

I was thinking... shouldn't we set a price as minimum for all docs? like 15k... i'm tired of having to buff for 10k and making almost no money...

I know that you will say "some won't respect/know about it"... but most doctors i have met listen when i talk with them about a minimum price for this area, then we all set the price to 15k... and sure people whine, but then we joke about them and laugh... maybe we should make a black list and just not buff those annoying whiners??...

just a few weird ideas... please don't flame, don't one-star, comments and constructive critizism(sp?) is welcome...

the better your buffpacks the more you can charge and get away with it, there are too many doctors to bring this around right away, if u have really good packs charge 12k, people will pay it...... if it's worth it.

you're following a precedent set months ago, don't expect it to be easily changed.

I'm not whining, flaming, one-starring or any of that crap. If there's something I'm missing, I'd love to hear it.

However, I just whipped out Windows calculator and did a quick test. I got a rough number as to how much it costs a doctor such as myself to craft one 30-charge Enhance Health D pack: 11700.

That number is assuming 50 cpu for EVERYTHING involved, including the stuff that isn't that expensive usually like wild wheat.

Divide that 11700 by 5 to find out how much it costs a doc to buff one person on all 6 stats assuming (s)he crafted all enhance pack using purchased resources. It works out to about 2340 credits. My guess is that if I went through and figured in all exact numbers for all resources involved the actual figure would be much lower, since the best Lokian Wild Wheat I can find on my server sells for 3cpu on the bazaar.

I guess my question to you is how are you not making any money at 10k per buff?

Well your theory is flawed, since you suggested that the crafter used all bought ressources, and good Avian (900/900/900) goes for 400cpu ... at least, on my server .

Indeed , even with 10K he does make profit, but the profit is not SO immense when we think about the time it takes to acquire all those ressources...

But is it true that even at 10K, profit is made, and that was the subject of this thread.

Hehe, well I've never even seen 400 cpu for Avian meat, let alone paid for it. 100cpu occasionally on the best stuff, but I think that's balanced out by the fact that few people pay 50 cpu for the other stuff I included. Also I've never been personally bothered by gathering resources or crafting myself. I shop pretty often.

firstly thats the big prob if you buy all your resources you make nothing.. second 400-500 cpu for good avain is VERY common on farstar

I've not had much problem selling my buffs regardless of price. First-hand experience buffing in Coronet last Sunday: There were three Master Doctors and one non-Master, all giving buffs. We Masters were giving them between 2400 & 2500 power buffs for prices ranging from 8k-15k and the non-Master had 2000 power and was doing it for free.

Every one of us had a long line. I guess my point is, it doesn't actually matter a whole lot if you're charging 8k or 15k. People will still come, and they'll pay the "extra" 7k just for the hope of getting through faster.

So, say you only buff 20 people in an hour because you didn't have a steady lineand the 8k person was able to buff 25 people, because he did have a constant line--you've just made 100k more than him (gross income) and aren't running through your packs nearly as fast.

i can see his argument if he's going out and buying packs from other people

i set of buffpacks = about 15k * 6 stats = 90k

bivoli = about 20-25uses, 80k.

plus brandy, travel expenses, etc

total = 170k plus extras

with 26 uses per, thats only 260k, minus 170, is 90k profit.

that's not a whole lot for nearly 2 hrs worth of work. but if the buff packs are good you can get away with 12-15k per buff

90k isn't a lot for one run, but you do that 3 or more times a week, and it starts to add up. I did that for a few weeks, and got me enough money to start buying extractors, and started making my own buffs. The avian was hard to get, but that's where my friends and guildmates came in. Then I made 25 packs of every buffpack, 895 power for 2hrs 54 minutes..... not too bad. 25 * 26 uses * 10k per = 650k. Most of which just became profit.

it's not easy... but if you want to get ahead that's what you need to do. I just dropped 8 gas extractors down on some awesome reactive gas... I don't necessarily need it, but I'd be a fool not to get on that while I can. Now I can make buffs at 910 power for 3hrs and 20 minutes, just with one mineral change.

It takes time, and patience, but as you work up, you start getting money, then you'll have buying power, and can get what you can't find or don't have time to get.

My buffs are 2400ish for 4h... i buy atm coz i need to make the money for the factories, extractors and so on... and it was really just coz i'm crazy and want to create a doctors union with minimum wages... this might really be a rp thing.... i just thought about it... and it's not just the materials the costumers pay for... it's our time... we sit there and buff them, then they whine and complain(not all i know), this should cost too... thus i think 15k is fair... tho after the solo group nerf i think we need to charge less just coz i feel sorry for the combat people...

haha i dont know about 50k... thats a little extreme, there are few exceptions when this is appropriate

someone whom you know is paying in advance for their next few buffs

someone is paying for a group of people

someone decides to be nice for going out of your way if u just "stop to buff someone real quick"

you've buffed someone 4 times and they haven't paid you and they want buffed again

you're buffing someone with REALLY good janta packs

... that's about it, asking for 50k on a consistant basis is just rude

I always set my prices by my standards. If someone doesn't like it they don't have to pay. I don't have time for the 10k whiners.
