Thread: A lil upset over Resource Prices

Ok for me this is a bit frustrating.

I have a character on Chilastra I managed to get him to 4434 CM and Master Doc. I had alot of fun with the groups I was with being the support role kinda guy. Area Stims rock as do ranged ones and healing states and diseases etc also is good too.

My rant or frustration is the outrageous prices that Organics Sell for. I can understand if it's some really high quality stuff that spawned months ago and nothing close to it's quality is in existance at all. But paying 10cpu for resources that I could barely make 300 power stim with is just rediculous. I am mostly refering to creature harvests as Mining resources Costs Money rather then Harvesting from creatures from which if you got a mission for that creature were paid to Kill.

I can't sell the stuff I make as I would have to charge more or the same amount as stuff of better Quality.

I've searched the bazaar and ran from Vendor to Vendor and it's pretty much the same problem

1. Bazaar sells at 10CPU minimum no matter how lousy it is.

2. Run from one empty Vendor to another (This is the most annoying thing about this game to me)

3. Find a Stocked Vendor that sells for low CPU but have to buy like 100000 units. (yet to see a vendor with Meat like that)

I've already taken steops as buying my resources seems to be a futile process. I dropped CM picked up Some scout and a good combat Profession.I'm really upset about these prices and once my combat profession is good enough I'm gonna try to undercut these darn insanely priced meat Gatherers as much as possible.

I guess I just made a mistake and I should have went Artisan/Scout before doc and Massed Millions of resources before going Master Doc.

They cost that much because people will pay that for them, that's how free markets work.

I'm a Scout 4040, Swords 0332, Novice Doc 2222, working my way to Master Doc and I have to restrain myself from selling what I harvest to other docs. When they offer 40-80cpu for certain meats, it's almost painful to hold on to that resource, but Itry toas I know I'll needthe stufflater.

There are probably decent to high quality resources being sold at reasonable prices all the time, they were probably in those empty vendors you speak of.

My advice to you Don_T_Shoot is to hold on to all the Avian and Herbivore meat you can especially if it's of good quality.

I see people advertising to buy certain meats for high prices but when people try to sell any quality for IMO such a high price it's downright frustrating.

Yeah you could be right and those empty vendors probably had what I was looking for. I also have a feeling they got bought out and the stuff is being resold for Much more.

I plan on only buffing myself, Get my credits from Missions and like I said do my best to undercut this Insane Meat Market as best I can.

I refuse to give into those price gouging PC. That's why I have novice scout. I drop scout, pick up artisan. Find the resources that I want, throw down a couple of harvesters, drop artisan pick up scout, then start harvesting any meat. The only problem comes when there are no good resources (like now). THe only reason I can make good buffs now is that I collected ALOT of avian and reactive gas when it was 990 quality a few months ago, so I have it in abundance right now. However, that supply won't last long if it doesn't improve soon.

Well novice scout and vegash is good if you don't want to make huge quantities. The problem is that the few doctors who do make stuff in bulk need as much as possible and they set a very high benchmark for everyone else trying to buy the organics.

Couple this with the fact that you're also paying for someone's time to harvest this stuff, it's not like a mined mineral where you can just plant the harv and come back a week later.

I guess it just comes down to how much you want it. Honestly for avian meat and herbivore meat you could spend 200cpu for the avian and 100cpu for the herbivore and still come out with a profit. If you're content not buying it and making a more modest amount then that's your perogative.

Try being an armorsmith and a doctor. You want to talk about inflated prices.....

Well, you obviously haven't spent any time hunting resources. I hunt all my own meats. In a 3 hour session, I can get buffed and mind buffed, fly out to a planet, and if I'm lucky end up with 8,000 units of meat. More likely, I'll end up with about 6,000 units. The buff (if I couldn't buff myself) would be 10,000 credits, the space travel (roundtrip) would be 5,000+ credits, when I'm done it will take 5,000 credits to repair my bike, and I'll need armor and brandy. Chances are the mission reward will only be about 3,000 credits, and I will probably be able to run around 12-15 mission. So my income, not counting the meat, is maybe 45,000 credits, and my costs are 20,000+ credits.

So for 3 hours of running around, I have 25,000 credits and 8,000 units of meat. How much should I price the meat at to make it worth my time to hunt meat? If I hunt Janta, I can make 600,000 credits in 3 hours (easily), and have the chance to loot some stuff while I'm at it. That requires me to charge 70 cpu for my meat to make me come out at the same financially.

When you pay for meat, you're paying for time, not quality. Hunting meat is not "playing". It's work. It's not done by the players who log on and don't care about money. It's done by the players who are trying to build up some credits. And the players who want to build up credits have to set their prices in the context of what else they could do with their time.

I wonder how many hunters then complain about the price of buffs...

best practice is find a good guild that helps you with that.

i was a CM/doca long time but the total inability to get your resources really sucked.

most CM/Docs i know have alts for hunting of are in guilds that supply the stuff for you.

another possibility is - dont use adv. CRDMs in stims. that resolves the Herb meat problem.

or drop parts of CM when a really good avian/herb spawn is and get some marksman and scout skills. grinding the medical parts of CM back is a matter of 1-2hrs

BrJLa, you hit it on the head. The underlying problem is the mission payouts. Making 600k credits in 3 hours is absurd.

The money faucets are huge, while the money sinks are miniscule. Mission payouts have put a massive amount of credits out into the "economy" but there are very few mechanics (none of which are effective) to take that money back out of the economy. Of course, this leads to inflation and the subsequent bloating of resource prices.

I don't think the pricing you mention is unfair at all. Harvesting meats is not exactly an easy activity to get large quanities of it unless its Carn meat from Rancors. Most of the team, you'll be lucky to get 15-30 meat per mob for Avian meat. If you're looking to do any kind of factory run - you'll need 15K Avian meat and 25K Herbivore meat - thats for about 120 buff pack sets. Thats a lot of meat that needs to be harvested.

You need to compensate for the hunters time and also factor in how difficult it is to get the quanities you're looking for. If the current spawn is in like Tatooine, Talus, Naboo, Corellia - yeesh, what a royal pain to get any large quanities of meat from those scrawny little mobs.

You try getting just 2000 Avian meat from Tatooine - see how quickly you contemplate jumpting out the window after your 500th Nuna kill.

Until they increase the harvest amounts for Rangers, the prices will always be driven high..

That's the funniest part about all this.

You don't have to look far down this board to find a thread named "Buff Prices - Time for an increase i think." It discusses the option of raising buff prices. It even has a neat little formula rationalizing charging almost 30k for a set of buffs.

Where did everyone expect this to lead? If buff prices rise, then the hunters will cite that as a reason to raise resource prices (be it a valid excuse or not). This in turn causes docs to bellyache about profits and raise their buff prices again.

So I'm doing my part in ending this vicious cycle. First, I will never pay for organics or inorganic resources... not now, not ever. Second, I am going to pass these savings on to my customers and start charging 5k for a set of buffs.

Now, when any hunter tells you he's charging you so much because of buff prices, just tell him to go see Cypherr for a cheap buff. Then he can sell his meat for less!
