Thread: Doctors Hear The Call...
Today is the day we stand up for ourselves. I am starting a thread dedicated to "Stop the Healing" until people learn that, we too, Need cash to live our lives. I'm not asking you just to throw down and stop healing but start asking for tips up front and if they refuse to pay let them sit in the med centers. It is stupid that we heal a player with 800+ wounds to primary and 300+ to secondary stats and he got up and walks away when we are done. People don't realize that it costs us on average 400+ credits for one wound pack and when we use 2-3 on them puts us up to 1K in expenses!

I'd suggest more doctors do what I do: keep a list. If I heal you, and you don't tip me (even one credit says 'thank you'), you get put on the list.
It's a big list, and it's growing. If you're on the list, you can rot as far as I care, unless you tip me cash up front. Doesn't matter if I'm the only doctor in town, doesn't matter if you're on fire. If you end up on the list, you gotta pay before you get healed.
The list is pretty draconian, but it's how I have to play things now. When I was a low-level medic, it wasn't all that expensive to heal people. Now, as I pick up doctor levels, it's getting more and more expensive. I shudder to even think at the amount of credits it'll take me to grind up my medical crafting to a decent level so that I can buff all the people who come in demanding it (and thinking it's their right, not a privilege I choose to grant).
Come to think of it, I may just start posting my list on the Lowca board, just as a service to other medics and doctors. PM me, Lowca medical-types---if there's enough interest, I'll post the list.
I dunno---maybe it's because I hang out primarily in Bestine, home of the evil eighth-grade PvPers, but it certainly seems that lately I and the Bestine medical-types I hang with are getting FAR fewer tips.

this is actually a good idea u could probably get all the masters and high lvl healers to do it but most novice healers wouldnt' bcuz of the xp. I understand though as soon as i started to make enhances i spent over 200K for harvesters, traveling and resources.My fav part about not getting tipped is dancers complain all the time about getting tipped yet they dont have to survey.harvest, or buy resources then we have to craft all this crap and dancers get tipped way more than healers all i can say is stick it out till u get master doc cuz once u can do buffs the money starts rollin in.
We feel your pain! If you look back through the board you will see that this is a frequent topic of discussion. Many of us no longer wear our titles or heal outside of our circle of friends/guild..sad but true.
Honestly though, how can we expect to get tipped by children who have no real world experience. Their money comes from Mommy and Daddy so they have not clue how hard it is to work. If you are an adult and do not tip, well shame on you! Economics is economics whether it is ingame or irl.
BTW, I do like the list idea.

Okay, then, guys... how about we start posting our "lists" on the boards of our respective galaxies? I'll do s'more playing tonight, then post my list on the Lowca forum.
I know, I know... posting is fraught with danger, TEF kills and spoofing by non-docs with an axe to grind, but what the hey, why not give it a shot?
Maybe then peeps'll start getting the message and begin dropping us a pittance for our time and trouble.

What is the money problem? I go on mission runs with people, revive if the fall, and get my cut of the profit from every mission. I am also a pikeman, but that is not very helpful. Doctor can just go on missions. It is so easy. Say " I have revive", " anyone want to group hunt?" if you are in a town with anybody, you will have a group in no time.
Learn to use your skills. Don't just sit there and expect people to give you money. If that was intended, there will be a carge for heals. It is a tip system because you are suppoesed to go out and earn it. Wound healing is so easy. Go out in danger's face and heal. You will earn money fast. Try it.

Like someone said before, I don't heal outside my friend's/guild. The only time I heal outside is when someone sends me a /tell. I tell them upfront that they're gonna have to tip me. I look at their damage and give them an estimate. I'm not greedy, just like all you doctors out there trying to make ends meet, I just want something for my time and expenses. Plus this way, I don't have to compete w/ medics or other doctors in med centers. I'm out and about and heal people w/ my droid out and it's much more convienent for them so they don't have to run to the med center. Think of it like a delivery. You've got your basic cost, and a tip... but you get to control your tip.
Typically, the best tips I get are ones that I heal that aren't even at a med center. Cloning facilites, cantinas, out in the field... wherever. But I do agree, we should "CHARGE" upfront. I've been stiffed. It sucks.
I did the list thing too, but sometimes, a good person just doesn't have any credits to tip at the time, but intends to make it up to some medic at some time. The list is unreliable I think. I eventually cleared my entire list out. But I'm still gonna keep some on the list that are just plain jerks.
People please. DO NOT HEAL unless given a reason to. Let these cry babies go run missions with wounds and see how fun it is w/o us. If not alteast force them to get healed by a medic. Then they'll appreciate the "luxory" the "priviledge" the "generocity" and the "skill" that we have EARNED, once they get shunned. WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER PEOPLE!!!

Here is my question to you. What about those Novice Docs? Why would any Experienced player want to split the loot with a doc when he can buy Stim B's that heal as well as some D's and keep himself alive? What is the frigg'n use of a medic/doc if they use the tank and have healing kits for themselves or pets if needed?
That is the point medics are expected to be in the cantina. There was a young kid in the med center when I arrived. I remember seeing him out in the fields of talus fighting chunkers and getting hurt bad but I had to run to pay the house bill. so after getting back from the PA I find him in the med center and his first words to me were.. "Where were you.... I've been in here for a long time..." I ignored him and walked away. Come on people decent amount of respect is owed to those who help you the most.
Learn to use your skill?!? If y ou note this is the doctors forum not the Combat Medic or Medic forum.... Doctors are the ones who are supposed to stay in the med centers by class default. And anyone who is a doc know that between having to have Scout skills for herb meat and Artisan for Survey for the harvesters what skill points do we really have to use on weapons skills? you go ahead and run into the lions den if you feel safe enough but I wont. When I can't even rid myself of a group of pirates you expect me to go set up camp in the middle of tusken for to heal people!?! yea I'm real safe there....

I know a bit about slander and defamation (actually, it'd be libel), seeing as I'm a pro journalist in RL. Doesn't apply here in the slightest.
My list of cheapskates is about to go up on the Lowca board. Let the chips fall where they may. Anyone who wants to follow suit, feel free. If it backfires, I'll just go TKA.
