Thread: Hey Doctors This Is Why I Don't Tip You
I'm not saying all Doctors or Medics do this, but I just ran into this recently so I thought I'd post it here.
I run into the Med Center and sit down. Start opening my pack to treat myself of Health & Action wounds since, even though i'm a soldier, I have First Aid I & Organic Chem I. Well, before I can even begin, some guy runs over and heals me completely of Health & Action. So I leave without tipping him.
Why did I not tip him? It's because he didn't ASK!! If you do a player a favor without being asked, don't expect payment in return. How about just standing there so the soldiers without med skills, or whomever else, can request a heal.
Also, as a side note, it would be nice of you to set prices. With an Entertainer I can easily tip 1cr per wound & BF since it heals very quickly and costs them nothing but Action.
For you guys it sometimes costs wound packs when you don't want to take a hit to your Mind pool, so I can understand requesting a fee. Tipping on my own is hard because I don't know what to give. There's no standard.
Actually I agree with this line of thinking. When I was skilling up I personally did not care if I got tiped or not if I just started healing someone without them asking. As to me I was doing it out of the goodness of my heart. I mean you don't see doctors rushing out to the lobby of the hospital to heal you, you have to ask to be healed and fill out a crap load of forms for them to even think about seeing you.
Now what irratates me is when people ask you to heal them and then don't tip. If you are not goign to pay anyways just wait there and you will get healed by that one medic that just goes around healing everyone to maximize their xp gain.

They probably are rushing to heal you because they need exp. I agree with you on this though. Unfortunately this ruins the business for the doctors who are healing as a way to support themselves in game
However most of the people who I heal doask for it and then dont tip. That is just ourright rude. Well they onlydo it once because they go on the ignore list.
If you tip entertainers 1 credit per bf and wounds healed than you should at least be tipping your medic/doctors that amount.
I can't speak for every doctor out there but It does cost alot of money to get the advanced components inour wound packs (dantooine berries, lokian wild wheat, talusian water vapor, dolovite iron etc.) So maybe 1.5 credits per wound would be ok with me.
Good post.

You know, DaiShan99999, this is a very valid point that I hear a lot. In fact there are many times now (not always) that I don't heal anyone unless they ask for this very reason. Don't get me wrong, I don't stand around and refrain from healing because I am worried about the costs or because I want to tip ... Igave up on tips a long time ago.I do it (or don't do it?) out of respect for players like you. I just hope that this doesn't offend OTHER players who do need healing but don't know that they have to ask now.
I know its asking a lot, but you could say that you aren't looking for any service when you enter a Med Center too. I fyou don't want to get healed, just say so. Or buy a droid and don't go into a med center at all.

i agree with this... i am tired of the same thing... plus then they start PIMPING their warez...
(if they are making 1500 per stimp-b w/ 33 shots, i don't think they need tips by the likes of me)
*sigh*
What are you talking about 1500 per stim pack b? Thats outrageous, no stim pack is gonna sell for that much. I buy from owee, and spend at most 500 per stim pack b (top of the line stuff too btw). If i could sell them for 1500 i could be rich.
All doctors and medics need to understand that becoming a doctor or medic means being poor. I became a medic/doctor to heal people, not to make money. I do not ask for tips, but i allow them to happen if they want to. In the medical center its almost a fight to heal people sometimes. All of us are trying for medical xp, so we heal anybody we see. Tips are always nice, and i personally am a lot more attentive to people who do tip. If someone tips me i will get the last 5 points of str or con etc.
THrust
Their fault.
As for the other posts:
I've never sold anything while in a MedCenter. Stims, Woundpacks, Rezkits, nothing.
If I go in there, which is rare if ever, it's to heal myself or heal someone who as asked me to meet them there(usually friends or PA Mates).
But if I am there...and I'm doing nothing but waiting...and I feel like being nice...I'll drop a couple heals on folks without asking for payment.
And if they say 'thank you' at the end, well, that just makes it worthwhile.
Basically...A 'Thank You' goes a long way.
1) There ARE some servers/planets/cities where a highly experimented Stim-B can be sold for that much.
and
2) Not ALL of us are there for XP.
Fine by me... If you didn't ask for a heal, I wouldn't expect a tip for volunteering my services.
If you did ask for a heal and left without tipping, it's still not a big deal. You probably won't be high on the priority list next time though. ![]()
I run over to heal peoiple as soon as I can without asking, especially when the place is swamped, so that they can get back to their adventuring.I made the decision when I took Doctor that I would heal people, be a support character. What I hate is like has been said when someone spams for a heal and then doesn't tip or runs out after a heal without even saying thank you.
All most doctors want is appreciation and if you can tip, whether it be resources or credits, please do so nothing more nothing less.
My two cents for what it is worth.
Vortexala, I am totally with you on everything you said. I could have written that post thatshow on the money it was.Its rare to find me in a Med Center unlessI am bandaging myself, a friend or someone who PM'd (yes, some doctors even make housecalls). Even then, I normally just use my droid.
It kind of sucks that the only way to make a living as a Doctor is through crafting/selling stims (if I wanted that I would have been an architect) or by running missions (if I wanted that I would have beena CH or TKA). But hey, watcha gonna do? I'm of the opinion that Doctors are a pretty useless profession ... who needs em when you have clones? At least my friends and guildmates appreciate my services and thats really the reason I became a Doctor.

(btw, you won't sell many Stim-B's for 1500cr on Radiant either)
Heck, I get medics healing me when I go in without my doctor title. I'll sit in a corner to avoid them and go afk, but they still come to heal. Don't expect a tip for 80 total wounds spread across all stats; some people like me go in for a brief afk to clear all wounds.
Reminds me of when I first played EQ. I was a cleric, sitting in the middle of nowhere somewhat damaged. Someone ran up, healed me, then demanded payment. Umm, no.
