In your opinion. I read the TKA post that was on the forum this morning, but I'm curious what everyone thinks.

I started as Carbine, good choice, bad choice? Let me know!

Creature Handler! Be able to tank with pets and have time to concentrate on keeping everybody healed up.. Yet still contributing to battle.

Nothing wrong with the choice of Carbine, Creature Handler and Pistoleer are also good options.

Personally I am a 4/4/0/0 Creature Handler and a Novice Pistoleer.

Carbine is good because nobody expects it. Carbineers have insanely high HAM costs on their weapons, but if you are a buffed doctor, the HAM costs don't affect you. You can spam specials that would be suicide for other carbineers to use.

I agree. Pistoleer. And a box of grenades doesn't hurt, either.

I can't decide, just because I seem to have to get in close (IE. use pistol) to hit well when I run in to heal. Perhaps I'll do a bit of both. But mostly carbine I think.

RIFLEMAN lol, go for it, its super fun, i posted here last night "just a new doc" i don't think the title was flashy eought but i had some points about rifleman in there, you are ranged, buff'ed and when your team is dead you will be safe and revive them heal pet's

on endor if your with a half smart team , they recall there pets let anouther 1 tank and i'll heal in a few E's

"if you rush in to heal some 1, take off your rifle.... its a must"

Carbine is good fun and all - and you can get a pretty spiffy attack just getting the burst shot attack box (1st box counterinsurgency) - BUT - if you do a lot of healing, the delay can be pretty **edit** annoying.

I am only a novice doc myself but 8 boxes into carbineer. I constantly incap myself waiting for my heal to go off between shots.

With pistol I never had this problem. I really enjoy carbine attacks though, especially the area of effect - so I have gotten used to dying/being incapped regularly. Probably be better once I can actually make/use decent buffs. It's action incapping me 99% of the time at this point.

IE I open up with a special or two, find myself at half action pool, hit heal self, mob runs up, swats me twice, hitting my legs and bang, down I go before the stim fires. Maybe I am just unlucky, but if I were using a pistol I'd be able to heal between shots a lot more effectively.

However, if you go to master carbineer, your delay will be acceptable =) You'll never cap at 1 shot per second unless you throw BH carb into the mix, but if you do that you certainly won't be doing any doctoring either =(

Right now I have a Master TKA/halfway to master doc, a half mastered swordsman/novice doc and an 8 box carbineer/3 boxes doc. I have to say, the most effective combo seems to be either of the melees. I even get heals off faster it seems swinging a darn two handed sword than I do with my **edit** carbine =(

It just depends on your style of game play.

For me TKA is my best choice because if I have to fight, then the enemy has gotten too close anyway. My main purpose is to keep everyone alive (only defib if I have too), so I'm close to the group at all times.

I am in this boat right now as well. I am Master Doctor, CM 4/2/1/4 Marksman Carbine 3. Carbine is good because of its range but the delay for heals sucks. I was a Novice Pistoleer 1/4/0/2 but the Point Blank was killing me. Right now I'm not sure if I like CM all that well and thinking of going CH instead.

Combat Medic

play smart, use your ranged support skills and poisons, and you're actually quite viable as a MD/MCM
