Thread: Doc fees after CU?
I'm asking that because in the past I have, out of the blue, been offered rates like 250K/hour to act as support against things like the GDK (to keep players disease-free).
I've turned down these offers in the past (preferring a non-combat med center setting up until now), but with the shift to a field role for docs, I'm wondering if these scenarios won't become more common.
Damn us greedy/not greedy docs and the devs who do/dont like us.

Good luck. We are going to revert back too "You need us more than we need you". MD will be pointless without a group.
Some people actually like to heal. I'm not gonna charge anything. I actually like being a needed part to any group.

Anyone think we will start seeing Docs in starports advertising fees or rates for support on group missions?

I've seen/heard this before, too. And I figure this is what is expected after the CU (from the info provided thus far).
But--isn't this really what the role of a Combat Medic should be? Not sure when these roles got confused, or why.
Anyway...my 2 cents...

As for Perkins' post, you can bet that rate will drop substantially, as many docs will probably be more willing to group hunt.
And Jalinsol, I think the idea behind combat medics ig and irl is minor wound treatment, whereas the role of doctors is major wound treatment. CMs will still have area heals, but the docs do say they'll be of much lower power than the docs' heals (not area). It will probably work out to where having both in a group will be the best route to go.
You know why?
Itemless healing.
The average player will not be able to tell if you are using enhancers or not... so no cost healing = no cost grouping.
Players never pay for things that don't cost you money to do.. Hell even with expensive crafting, we have never reliably been able to charge for healing in the field.
So I would not expect any cash for pick-up groups at all. Players will be players.
Though, on the bright side, unless you are doing something very nasty, you won't need to use enhancers all the time anyway, so our costs to adventure will dro pas well...

Not true....Players don't tip us now and we have items that cost money. On the flip side they will throw 10k or more at an AFK Entertainer just because they needed BF/wounds/buffs to be take care of. Don't get stuck on items...We as a profession set the price on our abilities.....not the people that don't play it. If it was up to them our buffs would be free to.

This is a 3 year long issue (yes 3)... I don't expect the CU to change it.
Doctors that charge to group, or demand a bigger cut of loot will be generally left on the sidelines.
The rationale has always been... I ahve to pay for my gear and decay as well (guns, armor etc.), you doctors can pay for te meds out of your cut... Mind you.. this was true with expensive crafting meds... I don't expect free meds to make it easier... just much harder.
Honestly, with the changes as put in the CU, Docs really don't have a right to demand more then an equal share on missions if they are using no item healing.. because they are creating no costs.
If they are using expensive, high-end enhances, yes they deserve cash... but I don't think they will generally get it... at least outside a group of friends.

agree
There will not be any reason for a doc to ask for more than their cut. For this I am glad. I always disliked the idea of people wanting to tip me becuase I had healed them. This is about the only positive thing I see about free healing.

We don't have a right??? Then they can be cannon fodder and lay on there @$$es screaming for a rez.....Thats what I think. Oh you got a disease or poison that sucks....oh your bleeding and have no life...darn I forgot what button to press to get rid of that. Sounds like a pretty darn good right to me. Don't wanna pay they you can clone take your decay, because I don't really care I'm still alive and kicking.
Now mind you I don't expect anyone to actually play like that....but the need for doctor is still there, just like it was back in the day.
I understand what your saying and its a good point. But honestly I have never seen any problem with taking a Equal cut....It's just not a big deal to me. I like grouping, I like healing, and loot credits are the least of my concern. I'm far from rich...infact I think I have like 500k....but even gettin 1k from a mission is better then getting nothing.
