Thread: Medical Droid
Someone told me you needed to be in a camp to use them. Can anyone conferm this?
The Woodpile
Medical droids are great, but here are the rules
- You can only call them in a house, a camp or in a city. But after they are called they will follow you. THey go slower than you do and get caught on corners in cities, but if you can keep them with you you can heal wounds anytime in the wild. They even swim!
- You cant use them in the cantina but they are great around town... see the guy in line ahead of you at the bazaar has some nasty wounds, slap a wound heal on him.. it works great...
- if you camp you can heal wounds anyway so no need for the droid, but you can call one in a camp and then after leaving the camp he will stil be with you so if you are not running too much he will be able to keep up
- If they get lost (or left behind when you take a shuttle hehe), you can just pop them back into your data pad and call them out again...
Another wonderful droid is the crafting droid. Imagine being able to experiment when you craft you are resupplying yourself with meds in camp... or crafting meds while waiting for the shuttle. You can even craft (and experiment) in the med center!
Hope this helps,
Syd
Please someone answer his question. Do the droids heal, and if so how do you do it. I have been trying to figure this out for 2 weeks.
If you group with them (you have to program them this command, and the command will show on the info on the data pad), then you can heal outside the hospital. That means, you can heal the "Black Damage" on the HAM bar.
In some circumstances this is not possible there was a patch 1 or 2 weeks ago, but I forgot what it said.
With a surgical droid (not a droid with a medical module) you are supposed to be able to heal everywhere.
Droids with a medical module might give you a healing bonus, at least I think this is planned or on test centre. DE are able to do med modules level 1-4.
I hope this helps, and please correct me if my info is wrong.
They are actually percentages of the med center heal (base 100, or 1.00)
A level 1 me3d modulae is 35 (35% of the med center modifier).
I think level 4 is 80 (80%).. but that may be level 3.
Camps also ahve heal modifiers based on the med center.
If a camp says it has .65 heal rate, then it operates at 65% of the med center value (camps also autoheal at this percentage of med center).
I don't think 2-1b surgery droids are supposed to be able to heal anymore. Nobody seems to know. There is a droid that can heal other droids though.

You don't need to group with your droid to use it to heal. But you are absolutely right that the droid does NOT heal. It just let's you heal in places you normally would not be able to, like out in the wilds without a camp, or jeven just outside of the med center inthe city.
The surgical droid is no different than any other droid. It is just a shell. The ability to use your heal skill comes from having a Med Module in the droid. Pick whichever droid shell you just happen to like.
I think there are actually 6 levels of med modules. The higher the level the lower the reduction on your heal ability becomes. Med Centers and Houses give you a 1.0 heal ability (you heal for 100% of what you are capable of healing). Camps and droids have some lower modification of that. Like cout-level camps have a heal rate of .65, so a medic only heals for 65% of what they could heal for in a Med Center there. Not positive what the modifiers are on droids yet, and it makes no difference until the patch anyway.
Finally you can also get droids that also have a a fod and chem crafting station built into them. Droids may only use one crafting station, period. So don't let a DE sell you one because it has a Food & Chem and a Weapon crafting station in it. One of those two stations will never work. The station will act like a personal crafting station allowing you to make higher level meds. It probably will never be as good as a standalone personal crafting station with all the bells and whistles and experimented for the best effectiveness, but it certainly works for most field/med center crafting needs.
But, since there is no place in game with a 0 percent bonus... is it really a bonus?
Minimum is 35. it could be +35 to wound treatment, or it could be anywhere else in the formula.... definitely not 35% of total though. I ahve a 35 droid atm (though maybe it is intended to be... this is still listed as being fixed in big patch).

Who knows, really. Either way you look at it the med center or houseing is supposed to be the top spot for heals with a rating of 1.0. So all the other numbers are a base off of that. I guess that's the most importnat concept of it all.
okay not batteries right?
But i don't get the use of it. Since i can only call him in a camp or do i get something wrong? Can i call him anywhere? But in a camp it is no help.
When i am in a hospital, do i get an extra bonus?
So is the concensus then, that the crafting stations that can be installed in droids, are not as good as the personal stations that you can put in your home?
I was thinking of selling my home and buying a surgical droid with a food and chemical crafting station instead, but I won't do that if the stuff I make in it will be inferior.
The craft stations are indeed equal to private craft stations.. Right now there is a bug where the same droid cannot have 2 different stations in it... one or both may stop working.
1 craft station works fine though.
