Now, I realize the plight of all my Doctor Friends out there, but you must ask yourself with your millions of credits in your wallet. Does the Game rely too much on Doctors?
The Answer is Simple, Yes.
What does everyone need to Grind, Hunt, PvP, PvE, anything Combat orientated in this Game. Doctor Enhancements I know its a sad fact , but don't you think scaling down the reliance of needing a Doctor is good for the Game, I know its not good for our Wallets, but think about it am sure we will be able to retire on what we already have . We could just keep the Prices the same, therefore earning more from Buffing in Cent or somewhere else, or increase them to come in line with our lost Crafting Revenue.
I don't know about you guys, but this game has depended upon us for too long. I feel that we have got into a rut and lived an easy life; where everyone else has to fight for survival, oyr demand is inelastic we are an essential Good no one can practically play without us.
So let SOE change the system, I am sure they thought it through: P
Just my 2 pence.

CH went from being one of the most usefull, interesting, and unque prof in the game to being one of the most rare and obscure prof. It was one where we let SOE change the system and assumed they had thought it through.
Anytime you have a vested interest in something then you should let your feelings about that something be known. Never assume the other guy will.

i think the dependence on doctors is large but only because of how the system works. you cant take on much of anything without killing yourself. you cant even duel others without killing yourself. you eat away your own HAM pools too fast without some sort of buff. and im not talking about spamming specials, using just one special can really wound you without being buffed.

everything above is true,
BUT, dont forget that we are also tied for second, in highest amount of SP needed to reach master. (only CM , BH and comando need more) <--- dont nit pick if i missed a tree hehe...
i am SURE they will reduce significantly the amount of SP needed. i am assuming down to like one max two tree's of medic, just like any other combat prof... espechialy if one tree of medic will go to crafting ---> BE.
And it might well be that our enhance buffs as we know them will become obseleat, but we will certainly be needed to heal in the field...

Healers will allways be required. I don't like the way things are now though, where people rely on docs for buffs so that they have little need for a healer in day to day combat. I prefered things before buffs were commonplace, where you got healers into a group to go out hunting so that the healers could keep you alive during battle, not prevent you from dieing before it
I'm not to sure what I think of the new enhances, simply because blair's post was so vague but I'm hopeful that they will be shorter term buffs which play less of a significance on your survivability, they should be a nice perk, not the norm. I hope they will make healers in the field more common

This is a good point, but it will be essential to have a healer after CU . Hopefully this will encurage more guild comitment and team work.

Personally I like being able to solo some things, of course I conceed that someone with a hammer should be able to take a krayt dragon, but I do not want to have to be in a group for everything. As for healers, I dont want to go on a group hunt and have to rely on others to protect me, or rely on the generousity or others to make credits in the game. They could have modified the buffing/ham system without completely changing it. HAM bars could have went to 2k with buff power changing with duration ie long term 2hr buff 500 max buff, 45 min 1500 max buff. So for high end content you would need a doctor with you to reapply buffs and heals, but if someone just wanted to do missions they would be viable on their own without a buff. I remember the old days without buffs, not PvP because by the time I was "ready" for PvP buffs were starting to become available. I remember being in a group of 20 doing reb missions, the 6 st's would kill half and a doc would have to rez everyone, or you would have to clone and run back to join the group. It was not fun and if the game goes back to that I will leave.

Docs are too critical right now for even basic play.
Too many times I spent tons of time and some creds to get buffed. Then, go into battle only to die 10min into it and there we have it, 20K down and 30min spent just so I can go do it again. Many times I have logged in frustration at this point.
Less need for buffs is needed.
But, buffs need to be usefull still.
Current buffs combined with current armor makes things stupid, I mean, soloing an enraged racor lair that spawns 10 rancors on me with suffering hardly a scratch is... Stupd.
These three things have been addressed in the CU, they have not given enough of a picture to know what roles doc will have yet, but the fact that they addressed these 3 crazy things is a huge thing for the gamebase as a whole and that is a good thing.
I have a doc alt, and he will probably stay that way.
Also, don't be afraid of losing your crafting. Medics will still craft meds, as well as BE's.
I think it will be like Tailor/Chefs dependence on BE's for enhanced materials/meds. This will be Medics crafting meds, that can be enhanced by BE goods.

But yeah...everything except this statement is true. The current game relies far to much on buffs and armor.

If you a clever doctor the statement is true.

Not really...Some people play the profession because they like it.....not to make money.
I've been a doctor for 90% of my game time of the past (almost) 2 years.....and I have only broken 1 million maybe twice.
And that was because I sold non-doctor stuff (Pikes, Crystals, etc). There is far more to this profession them buffing, and while you can pull a profit from selling meds, the time investment is not worth it for my playstyle.
So no, it has nothing to do with being "Clever" and it has nothing to do with being a Doctor.

When did this happen? Doctors have to spend nearly all the profits aquired on resources or new meds. Its for quick cash yes, but very little total. SOmone running missions can aquire more easially (I know, I;ve tested it at master marksman and made more)
